good to hear that I cant damage it that way. I'm not sure how to short the pins, but i'm fine with resetting the battery, so I'll stick to that if I need to.
what does upgrading the bios really do btw? give me more options or make it more stable er somethin?
I've got to head out after this post, but I'm curious. Can the not posting hurt the comp? like fry something? or it just means I'll have to change settings back. the main reason I'm afraid of that is because I thought maybe it could damage something.
Thanks much for the help though, I'll try...
yes, it was working. But.. when I rebooted to change to the next set of options you specified.. It would not post. I never got to try the second set.
it booted with the
mem 100
cpu clock ratio 10
cpu clock 232
cpu overvolt 5%
but when i rebooted to change to the next ones, it would...
I've got all the settings back to default and it boots ok now.. do I still need to redo the CMOS battery? what does removing/replacing it do anyway?
I'm kindof weary of changing the settings back to the original ones you told me, cause it was on those when it would not post. I never tried the...
bad news I think.
When I went to reboot and change to your new set of proposed changes, my computer would not post. It merely made 2 low toned buzzing noises. I tried to press the reset button, same thing happened. I turned off my computer for about 5 minutes, kicked it back on and it booted...
Ok. I've changed these settings. CPU-Z now shows my core speed ad 2320, it was 2200 before. How can I tell if this is stable though and not going to hurt anything?
ok.. I've changed them around.. and the memclock still shows at 100. I'm not sure if this matters, but it used to check the ram every boot up, not it just says 2000whatever kb OK, I thought I had changed a fast boot option er something before to skip the check, but I could not find that option...
I do have access otherwise.. are you asking that so I could come on and be talked through resetting the cmos battery afterward if it does not post? If it could be harmful to my pc I may not want to do it.
ok.. so I was curious though. The two sets of ram I have in here, does it matter that one is 184-pin and the other 2 are 240-pin? and one says DDR, one says DDR2?
mushkin 1GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Desktop Memory
mushkin 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM Unbuffered DDR2 400 (PC2 3200)...

of what parts of bios? or just.. all of it?
also, dumb question perhaps, but is there any way to do that without using a camera to take the picture? Because I do not have one, but I could write down any info from there that is needed.
I've read the quick and dirty A64 clocking guide by Zebo, but I honestly don't understand any much of it. Maybe I shouldn't even be trying to overclock if this is the case, I don't really know much about this stuff and have a hard time learning, and if that's the case its cool. I can't afford to...
will be under $100 for price range.. can't afford any more than that.
she listens to mostly alternative rock / rock ... she said she loves to hear the bass, current speakers have ... 0.. don't wanna rattle our walls er anything though
currently on my wife's computer all she has is the PoS speakers that came with her HP computer. She wants some that she can listen to music on without sounding like shit. Don't need anything spectacular, no surround sound er anything, just something that sounds good to play some music...
I have a Radeon x850 graphics card. It has a DVI-I Dual link output on it. I've always just used the D-sub connector though. I recently got a new hanspree 19" LCD monitor that has an HDMI input on it.
my question is, will it make much of a difference if i switch from the d-sub connection to...
havent run the mem test no.. I'll do that when i get home.. in bios my sata thing is set to IDE mode.. but... tbh... my comp stopped rebooting itself since i installed the older ati drivers... that last debug one i posted has been the only time it rebooted since puttin in the old drivers...
is there any way to tell if my disks depend on it or not? cant find a more current driver anywhere... its the same one i already have is the newest i can find
when ye say deleting it... do you mean i could just delete the m5289.sys file? also... the vendor... would that be for the motherboard vendor? i pieced this comp together so all the parts were just ordered from like newegg 'n a couple others
the driver is from 12/1/2004 btw
