I recomment the ASUS M3N78 PRO (http://www.newegg.com/Product/...?Item=N82E16813131320)
and AMD Athlon X2 4850e 2.5GHz (http://www.newegg.com/Product/...?Item=N82E16819103255). I just built a PC that I'll be using as a server 24/7. Runs stable and cool with low wattage since the AMD chip is...
I just bought the P35C-DS3R (mine says rev 1.1) and am trying to install vista 64 ultimate into the intel matrix raid0 partition.
here's my steps:
1. enabled raid on the intel controller in the BIOS
2. created a RAID0 and RAID5 partition in the raid setup
3. downloaded the latest 64 bit...
About to pull the trigger on this board... just have a question hopefully some kind person can answer.
I'm planning on install 8 gigs (GeIL Black Dragon 8GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/...?Item=N82E16820144074)
Is anyone using 8 gigs on this board? Any problems with overclocking and...
i'm getting ready to pull the trigger on an Asus P5K Premium motherboard, Q6600, and 8 gigs of ram. the system is for gaming and work (heavy use of vmware).
my question is...
1. will there be any problems on this motherboard using 8 gigs?
2. will i be able to overclock with 8 gigs (all 4...
i've tried changing the video.con file. BF2 just dumps me out to the desktop after the game logs in. if it was a matter of the moniter not handling the refresh rate, i think the moniter would go blank or something. the problem is more with the game configuration... it's not detecting that my...
anyone running BF2 at 1920x1200? i have two eVGA 7800gt in SLI and a Dell 2405fpw montier. i've tried the shortcut parameter tweak +szy +szx and i've edited the video.con file (both tweaks are well mentioned on the web). however, when i start the game, it just dumps me back to desktop.
i can...
I'm thinking of getting 3 XFX Raid cards (5SATA ports each) for a total of 15 HDs. Putting 5 HDs into the supermicro enclosures would be perfect... the only problem is finding a case that will hold three of those enclosures.
Are you saying three supermicros will fit into the Coolermaster...
i have two eVGA 7800GTs in my case and they're load and hot! NV Silencer 5 rev 3 is coming out in Oct that will support the 7800's. was wondering if anyone is using two Silencer 5's on 6800's in SLI?
how's the fitting? and trouble with 2 video cards?
i have the lian-li V1000 case. thanks.
i bought a XFX SATA 5Port raid card with 5 Maxtor 300 SATA150. It's running Raid 3 (striping feature of raid 0 plus redunancy of raid 5). have been really happy with performance so far although nothing has crashed so i can't attest how easy it would be to recover. the best part of the Raid card...
i have an eVGA nForce4 SLI momboard and a S12 550w in a P180. i had to get an extension for the 4pin mobo connector. the extender is pretty cheap and can be bought from newegg. i would worry more about the physical dimesions of the psu and the noise (i assume you like the P180 for it's quiet...
the reason i was looking at the BigWater SE is because i'm a noob at liquid cooling and figure it was a good starter kit. also, i'm primarily interested in the quiet aspect of liquid cooling and not looking at extreme cooling performance. i'll probably do an easy overclock, but nothing too...
when i play BF2 at 1600x1200, the game covers the entire screen... no black borders at all. response is decent too... i don't see any ghosting. anyone with dual 7800GTX should have a moniter (or two) to give the video cards a challenge. :)
i would go for the X2 3800. i just built mine and now all multitasking in XP is really smooth... plus i hear the X2 3800 is a great overclocker, although i haven't oc'd it yet.
definitely go for the 7800... prices have dropped quite a bit.
quick update... got my dual dell 2405fpw setup with 2x7800GT's. 2nd moniter does run at 1920. when switched to SLI mode, 2nd moniter goes blank. am very happy about the setup except i can't get BF2 to run at 1920! will only go upto 1600x1200.
btw, i plug each moniter into it's own video card...
my gaming system has two eVGA 7800GT in a Lian-Li v1000 case. I'm looking to get the Thermalake BigWater SE... was wondering if anyone has this combo. Keep in mind that i'm a noob to watercooling (but no noob to system building :))
i got a two eVGA 7800GT's running in SLI attached to dual Dell 2405fpw. when i'm gaming, i put it in SLI mode otherwise i'm doing dual 1920x1200 resolution. it's awesome, but i think the better price point would be to get two 2005fpw... you can get one for under $500 with coupons! also, seems...
if you really want a powerful AND quiet PC, then get into water cooling. otherwise, check out some of these parts...
Seasonic S12 series of power supplies are really stable and quiet. You may also look into Antec Phantom series of psu.
Gigabyte GV-NX66256DP video card. A fanless 6600...
one quick note... just saw newegg had the Maxtor MaXLine III 7L300S0 300GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive (has NCQ) on sale for $132. that's the drive with 5 year warranty.
sale is for today and tomorrow only. it just picked up 3 myself.
I've been doing alot of shopping myself since I'm in the midst of building my dream system. Base on your requirements, I'd say you're set with a good configuration.
I would only suggest checking out the Maxtor DiamondMax 10 6B300S0 300GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache Serial ATA150 Hard Drive at...
thanks for all the response. i guess the best thing is for me to get the hardware setup and running before buying that 3rd PCI video card. i sure hope i can run dual displays at 1920 with SLI. will let you guys know how it goes... moniter doesn't get here until sept 13... dells takes for ever...
hi. here's what i have on order... should be coming soon.
two 2405FPW and two eVGA 7800 GT.
I plan to run the 7800's in SLI and use the dual DVI ports to the moniters. I just notice that the resolution specs on the eVGA website says: 2560 x 1600 and 1600 x 1200 Max Digital
I'm assuming...
