Like many of the 'originals' on this thread, I'm going to take my bow too. Jaspers are getting easier to find everyday. Enjoy your 360s - I'm sure some of us will be back when the next mobo comes out or MS's next console starts the rumor machine going.
God Bless.
You almost certainly have a falcon, only a MAJOR snafu at the factory would lead it to be otherwise. Falcons are much more reliable then older rev mobos, though right around now they have been out in full force for over a year. Time will tell, but indications thus far relate fairly decent...
Highly probable from NewEgg as they are mainting skus for both older Arcades and XGX-00019 arcades. Dell on the other hand, might still be hit / miss. I've put both skus in their search engine and end up on the same product page.
For what its worth, I was just in the Best Buy in Princeton NJ. They have a ton of Jasper Arcades. The first 5 I looked at were all Jaspers.
I STILL think the best deal in town is getting a Arcade, then buying the Live pack from Amazon. You end up w/ a Pro and a 3 month LIVE card.
One...
You have a Jasper. The PSU is a 175 watt version, but that is only b/c MS is working down their inventory of PSUs. Don't sweat it, the console is a Jasper.
I've never heard of a console marked 14.2 and a power connector on the console being a Jasper. Are you sure the console has the 'split bar' on top inside the power connector? This doesn't add up.
You are quite welcome !!!! Hell, the Arcade is so cheap I have this unfounded unneccessary urge to buy one as a spare. Compelete waste of money, but for some reason I can't shake it.
Well, you know what THIS means don't ya? Time to get a Falcon and do a heat comparison, then return the Falcon. What will this gain you/us?
A. You will know for sure, beyond even a Anandtech disection, what the temp diffs are between the two mobo revs
B. You can say you've now owned 6...
Darrell, you definitely take it to a new extreme bro !!!! Most of us would be happy w/ the Jasper and whatever MS did to fix it. You're hardcore !!! Nice to see though ...
For me, I'm going to leave it alone. If it goes belly up on me, I'll just send it back to MS, sell the refurb to...
Thought about it, but figured that thunder would best come from you. :P
Anyway, any chance you can use your pull on that site to get Anand to do a HEAT ANALYSIS on the different revs? I was thinking having the same game loop the intro scene or whatever for 1 or 2 hours straight on each...
If you put that part # in at Amazon, you also get dropped to the Arcade, though it makes no mention of the part # on the actual page - so its unclear what you may be getting.
Also, the Dell site show a 256MB memory unit as a included accessory - again unclear as to what you are getting.
I...
For any that care about searching Bucks County PA - Montgomeryville area had no Jaspers that I could find at the Target or Costco. Costco has a MOUNTAIN of 360 bundles right at the door - I looked through 8 and saw only Lot 836s. Darrell's Lot #. :)
FWIW, one of the reasons I'm checking in (way too often/day) is I hope to see you and Jasperhunter snag one. Darrell you were so gung ho in the beginning w/ information and helpfullness - you deserve one that's for sure. Keep the faith bro. Just don't let the return window exprire before your...
From what I understand, there should be little to know differance in run quality between the first runs and a few weeks out. There MAY be a marginal differance between a first run and a near last run --- JasperHunter pls. tell me if I'm off base here.
As for the PSU, if you get a 175 I think...
JasperHunter, you have to change your top stickie. The 256MB doesn't seem to be in Pro consoles but your note says 'Never seen a Falcon with it and never seen a Jasper w/o it'.
HDMI by definition supports audio. So yes, if you want to play the audio out of your TV, go ahead - it will work fine. If you want to run it into the stereo - my solution is a option.
If you have a HDMI cable screw the Elite. Buy the Arcade and a 120GB drive from Amazon. Cheaper then the Elite. If you need optical to your reciever, run the optical from the optical out on your TV (if it has one) to your reciever (this works great for me). Other then the headset (which is...
Lots of stuff on this in starting on page 25 of this thread. There may be earlier LOTS that are Jasper, but apparently I'm the first to post about a Pro.
Cool. That explains my my Jasper Pro does not have the larger cache. Though I still think JasperHunter may be onto something w/ MS nulling it on the mobo or some other wizardry.
Only way to distinguish it w/o opening the box is to look for the 12.1A part of the sticker. Its to the left of what you can see easily in the box cut-out. You have to shift the xbox as far to the right as you can, then lift the cardboard a smidge. See my pics I posted earlier, then imagine...
I still don't get it though. If my Jasper Pro can boot into NXE w/o the hard drive, doesn't the cache onboard have to be bigger then 16mb?
I'm wondering if JasperHunter is onto something. Do they just 'null' out the extra cache on Pro consoles?
I don't know ... MS has lost a LOT of money on this RRoD problem. Jasper is the 4th (technically) mobo out for the 360. I would hope they have it figured out now. I can honestly say that after playing COD4 for 4 hours last night, the air coming out the back of this rig is lukewarm at BEST...
Okay guys, here are the pics.

For the record, I can't find a sticker on the mobo, but I can't see for squat inside there either.
Also, taking off the HD, I was able to boot into NXE. Under System/Memory it did NOT show anything.
Yah, I'm festering on this point as well - it made sense to put the memory in all consoles. I was going to turn mine off and take the HD off and restart, but wasn't sure what that would do.
I can honestly say that after playing about 3 hours of COD4, the console is barely warm in the back...
