    New build, ~1200

    1. What YOUR PC will be used for. Everyday machine used for general usage/movies/surfing/etc., some 24/7 use, cpu-intensive Monte Carlo simulations (similar to Fritz), some gaming (mostly Diablo 3). 2. What YOUR budget is. ~1200 (1000-1500) 3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts...

    Newbie overclocker: Q9450 & Abit IP35 Pro

Update: Am now fully stable at 3.55Ghz (444 FSB). Final settings: vcore 1.3075V mch 1.44V cpu vtt 1.25V ich 1.05V ichio 1.50V cpu gtlref 67% I tried using your settings, but I could only get windows to load at 460FSB (3.68Ghz). Since I seem to be hitting the wall I would rather keep...

    Newbie overclocker: Q9450 & Abit IP35 Pro

Don't have uGuru installed--it doesn't seem to work for 64-bit Vista. Problem was definitely the CPU VTT; I increased it to 1.25 and ran OCCT for an hour stable. Could boot Windows at 3.6Ghz. I think I'm happy with 3.55Ghz, though. It lets me run my RAM at 1066 Mhz in 4:5, and I don't want...

    Newbie overclocker: Q9450 & Abit IP35 Pro

My setting is called "CPU VTT Voltage". I think it defaults to 1.10V -- with mch set to 1.25 (default) the max vtt setting is 1.17. I will try boosting it up to around 1.3V though. My vid is indeed 1.2375. Currently doing stability testing with OCCT and Prime95. I'll let you know how it goes.

    Newbie overclocker: Q9450 & Abit IP35 Pro

My VTT defaults to 1.1V, with settings of 1.13V, 1.17V, 1.21V, 1.25V, and 1.32V (max). uGuru is crashing in 64-bit Vista. CoreTemp reads my vid at 1.2375V. EDIT: My Core temps climbed into the ~70 range while running OCCT (though around ~65 according to SpeedFan), so I am a little...

    Newbie overclocker: Q9450 & Abit IP35 Pro

Thanks very much for the advice. After some tweaking, I was able to get it to load at 444Mhz (3.55Ghz) by increasing Vcore to 1.3075, VTT to 1.17, and MCH to 1.44V. Won't load Windows at a higher FSB with these voltages. I'm happy with my current 3.55Ghz, but it's not prime-stable (although...

First build in 4 years (everyday/gaming)

This is likely a 24/7 machine for everyday use, gaming, video encoding, various other tasks, etc. I plan to OC this quite a bit, and I want cool temps, a stable system, and so on. Noise isn't that much of an issue. I don't plan on upgrading this for awhile: 8GB of RAM when it becomes...
