I played on tugboat last night for the first time.
First of all I had a blast. I apologize to any team mates who thought I was crazy running around not knowing where to go. I'm sure I also gave a few of you some good easy kills. I'm not very good at this game.
I play from my couch on a 55"...
I have pre-ordered BF 3 on the PC but have been out of multiplayer gaming for a while. The last game I really played against people was Modern Warfare 2 on the 360.
Battlefield 3 looks amazing but I'm nervous since I don't know the maps at all and have no idea how to control the vehicles. Is...
Lossless audio out of HDMI makes sound cards irrelevant.
I used creative products for years but now I do audio through my graphics card.
With a good setup it sounds great, and by having the audio programming done using CPU resources you don't have to worry about some games supporting EAX...
I game PS3, 360 and PC games on a 55" TV with a 7.1 surround system.
It is amazing. Gaming on a small PC monitor doesn't compare.
I have a wooden lapboard that I use for my Logitech G15, and G9.
I use a USB-IR converter to use the wired keyboard and mouse sitting on my couch.
The 2...
I installed Doom 3 now that I finally have a kick but 7.1 surround sound system.
I have been lusting after this game for years but wanted it to be super immersive on my 55" TV with 1080P graphics and full surround.
I spent hours trying to get the dang thing to run on my computer. I got...
I have to say this thread is encouraging to me as I play more games than anyone I know. It's good to see that there is still a good PC gaming community that plays through lots of different series of games like I do.
Also AdamK47 wins the thread for having the most games installed and the best...
I only have one game installed at a time. I try to finish all my games so I don't want a bunch installed distracting me from whatever I'm playing.
Just finished Vampire Bloodlines. Next probably Doom 3 + ROE.
What are the chances that some of the complaints about the PC version can be fixed by mods? Could you mod in the ability to choose your companions armor?
I have a sb X-fi Platinum on a computer with Windows Vista Ultimate 32. Is it possible to use analog out for games from the back of the sound card and optical from the front panel for movies and music? If so will I have to manually configure the output each time?
I'd like to use the digital...
Awesome. Thanks so much for the advice. I will probably just get the stereo to RCA splitters then. I'm planning on hooking my X-Fi up to a Denon 3808ci once I get my 7.1 home theater setup after taxes!
Why is that? I have a sound blaster X-Fi platinum. If I want great surround sound for games through my receiver how should you hook it up? With the home theater cables Creative sells?
Someday maybe, but with the current infrastructure and the horrible DRM that I'm sure will accompany digital downloads I wouldn't hold my breath for it. I give Blu Ray at least a 10 yr life cycle.
I only buy SD-DVD if the movie is in the $5 bargain bin and it doesn't have a lot of special effects. Otherwise I buy Blu Ray, although for most I will only buy BOGO or wait until I have gift cards to spend. I won't pay $30 for any new movies. I'm sure the prices will drop soon though.
I was planning on upgrading to a Q6600 and 8800GTX after the July price cuts, then I found out that the 8800GTX won't fit in my case and that the G90 or whatever this fall should be significantly more powerful. Now I'm waiting for that. I think Crysis and Bioshock are going to bring the 8800GTX...
I agree with you. I am holding out on Penryn and Nvidia's next mobo and high end GPU although today's rumors point to the G92 as a midrange card. I'm still confident they will release a high end card this fall though. With Bioshock and Crysis out they would be foolish not to.
Yeah, I really had high hopes for this stuff but it seems like Intel and Nvidia just know how to manufacture stuff more reliably and on time. I was holding out for the R600, but after that flop now I'll upgrade to a G92 and by that time Penryn should be out.
I have a Microsoft Habu mouse I got for Christmas. All of the sudden it is randomly losing it's connection to the computer and the OS detects that there is no mouse, and then that it is back again. I'm running windows XP and have switched the USB port the mouse is on. It has the latest drivers...
Best gaming CPU+mobo+GFX+Ram for $1800
This system will be for the best gaming possible at 1920x1200 on my 24"CRT. I have an OCZ 850w power supply and Thermaltake Tsunami case already. I hope to overclock the Q6600 to at least 3ghz.
Right now I'm looking at
BFG 8800GTX =$600...
The new forum is up
http://global.dficlub.com/
I sincerely hope the new forum is successful and I hope that DFI mobos continue to push systems to the extreme.
Gary, thanks so much for the hard work testing and updating us so far. I for one have been following this mobo for several months and am very excited about it.
One quick question if you have time.
I plan to game at 1920x1200 on my monitor at home. I know you can't know for certain since...
I hate price gouging, so I intend to wait until early next year when the prices go down. I'm waiting for the R600 anyway so by then the RD600 should be out and hopefully stable. Gary/others, I hope some people do some comparisons of the best memory to OC this board.
Gary, Thanks for all the info so far. When you review this board can you let us know if a Tuniq Tower 120 will fit in a mid tower case? I have a Thermaltake Tsunami VA3000BWA waiting for my new build and I was planning on getting this mobo. Also, will the PCI express x 16 slots only having x8...
