Ya it must have been in bad shape because the last year the lumina was made (in the US) was 2001. It has had 8 years for it to be beat up. Although they never made a 4cy lumina or a lumina lt.....
Sounds like a Passkey issue to me. I have a 96 Lumina with a resistor in the key and used to not start randomly for exactly 3 min. I ended up wireing in my own resistor. Anyways, I don't know much about the newer passkey systems but founds this video that might help you get started.
This is a very common issue on GM's. The rust isn't from gas on the outside of the paint, it is rusting from the inside out from when rain enters in behind the gas door and drains onto the inside sheet metal. The only true way of fixing that would be to cut that area out and weld in a new piece...
The only MDF trim I have seen as HD/Lowes has been pre-primmed and is meant to be painted. I hate going through 20 pieces of "select Pine" trim to find one that isn't a hockey stick or has 10 knots in it.
Getting back on track here I saw a fairly decent recliner on the side of the...
My dads 04 civic lx was doing something similar to that. The tank would be almost empty and the gauge was correct. You would put gas in it the gauge would take anywhere from 1 second to reach full to 30-50 miles for the gauge to go back up. He got the cluster replaced under warrenty. However the...
A 2x12 is really 1.5" x 11.25". If you need 2.5" I think you are going to have issues with a single piece of wood which is why I recommended to build a mini ramp with 2 levels. For example the bottom level could have a 15" long piece with a a 8" second piece on top... Although this is 3". You...
These are similar to rhino ramps but I built something like This and love it.
Went to the HomeDepot and found a slightly warped 12 foot 2x12 for 75% off or 50% off cant remember. I would get a 2x12 for added safety because you don't want to roll off the side of it. These work great and are...
and struts aren't a wear item? Hmmmm I guess struts should last forever given this theory........
Although I do agree that leaking struts @ 40k is bad.
In past videos he 'claims' that it is a 'redneck nose picker'
Beside that his videos are great to watch. Hours of fun and you don't feel so guilty because you are learning a lot in the process.
Ya I have a Craftsman 7.0HP front wheel self propelled mower and that thing is so heavy that it is actually easier to mow with a lighter manual push mower especially if you have a smallish yard with lots of turns or hills. As far my self propelled mower it does go decently fast but turning that...
Weird, the first time I ran the small test core 1 failed on the last test but it didn't BSOD. I ran the test 3 more rounds it hasn't failed again. I also ran the long test once and it was fine. O-well I better bump up the vCore one more step to be safe. I will move to orthos next and let that...
Thanks, I changed it from blend to small FFT for now. I kinda wanted to test the ram too since I did overclock it a little. The ram seems stable so now I will work on mostly the CPU. How long should I let it run on the small FFT and large FFT settings?
I got the CPU today from UPS and popped it in and fired it up and noticed I had a E0 stepping chip =D I started out @ 9x445Mhz vCore 1.36v with the ram 1:1 @ 5-5-5-15 2.1v. I ran prime95 for a half hour and it was fine. I kept lowing my voltage two steps at a time in the BIOS and I am now down...
Well, I thought I read somewhere that you didn't have to bump up the voltage so high if you had your multiplier less. But as I said I have only overclocked once before so I know just the basics to it. I think I will try 445x9 @ ~1.368 volts to start out with the ram 1:1. I shouldn't have any...
Wow, didn't mean to start a fight lol. So what I got out of this is that running it at 9x 450 would be slightly better for my ram but if my ram can take the 1066 speed then that would be fine too? From what I have read is that most ddr2-1066 ram is just ddr2-800 ram with looser timings (atleast...
I ordered a e8400 to upgrade from my e6400 CPU. Anyways while I wait for the new CPU to arrive I thought I would try to figure out the best way to overclock the e8400 to 4Ghz.
My system:
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R
CPU: Intel E8400
RAM: 2x2GB OCZ Reaper PC2-6400
Power Supply...
Did you read the article?
The engine isn't going to catch on fire based on just starting the car. As these cars are getting older, more are leaking a little bit of oil which is why GM put out a recall because they see it as a potential issue if you brake hard.
My car doesn't have a low fuel light so I never like to go that far under a quarter tank. There is no sense to run out of gas if you get lost or stuck in traffic for some reason. It also isn't good on your fuel pump/filter because it can suck up the junk from the bottom of the tank (I know thats...
Even if the JMicron raid isn't the fastest but should it be 100MB slower at the beginning of the drive and cause a speed wall at 170mb? Do you think this cheap silicon image based card would be better?
I know, if I had ICH8R I would use that instead of the JMicron crap. I have tried 128K & 64K stripe sizes. With the 128K stripe size I maxed out at around 160MB and with the 64K I am now at 170MB. I have tried the latest RAID drivers from gigabyte and the lastest drivers from JMicrons website. I...
Ya, those speed are around what everyone is getting with two of these drives together. If you notice how that guys curve slowly curves down but my curve is fairly flat at 173MB for 70% of the drive then starts declining like it should. I think a setting isn't set up correctly or I need another...
This guy for example used the entire 1TB array to get those speeds. I know I may not get up to those speeds because I am using crappy onboard Raid, but I would think I would be able to get closer than what I am getting.
I just got two 500gb Seagate 7200.12 to put into Raid 0. I am running a Gigabyte ga-965P-s3 motherboard. Looking online other people have gotten around 250MB max, 200MB average, and 124MB min transfer speeds with two of these drives. Here is a screenshot of what I am getting Link. I am getting...
Ya, I think the issue is with ATI because the recorded shows work fine on other windows 7 machine with Nvidia cards. I didn't know if someone had a setting or tweak I could do. I also have a Pinnacle USB 801e se tuner that I am using for OTA stations. The HD OTA stations are fine in media...
I have got this weird problem with my Hauppauge 1600 tuner card. When I try to watch a HD QAM channel in Windows 7 Media center, every 10-30 seconds I get a second or two of digital artifacts. I took an example screenshot Here. Anyway, if I stream the same QAM channels to my Xbox 360 the video...
I assume you have the 3100 sfi V6. I changed mine on my lumina with the same engine and was real easy. Here is a Pic
First you want to loosen the bolt the first arrow is pointing to. Then you want to get something (I used a pair of channel locks) to pull up on the tensioner so you can get...
Got an Antec 900 for xmas and moved all of my crap over to it over the weekend.

I have been running this setup at bsel 1066 since I bought it. Mine crashes after a couple minutes in orthos. I ran the stress test in the Intel TAT program and it ran all night long just fine. Other than Orthos, it is running solid as a rock. I have tried to crash it by transcoding dvds and...
I bought one of these at Target about a month ago and already got my $20.00 MIR! I paid 38.98 at the time. This keyboard and mouse is great for $20.00 that I paid for it. Looks like most targets have them lower than 38.98, so you could make money of this :D
