    Vista64 Help

Hi Maudib. I also downloaded the latest Jmicron drivers and kicked a couple of things in bios. So far everything seems ok. Obviously I'm not the first one to run into this problem. Thanks a lot for your help. Scratch

    Vista64 Help

Greetings Maudib. I believe the solution (in my case) is to not use the Sata/Pata connection on the board or to disable Pata in the bios. I'm checking further, but I think I'm good to go. Virge, you want to weigh in? Scratch

Virge... You may have just saved my bacon here. (and Maudibs sanity);) My HDs were hooked into the two SATA/PATA sockets, so I switched them to the last two SATA only sockets. Everything seems to be OK. I have to check it out further in the AM. (Mom wants her dinner) But I'll bet at this point...

    Vista64 Help

Yes...I do remember reading something about that in one of the forums. Board is a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R. Nicest board I ever had. If it has that bug, I wonder if Gigabyte has issued a fix? Oh...The reason I'm able to now write on the drives is that I forgot to turn the UAC back on. Guess I...

    Vista64 Help

Yes, still there. Shows full control. Still edits out write capabilities for all users even if I just try to lock out one. Then the only way to revert back is to take out UAC. Tried another drive and got an error message. Couldn't lock anyone out. Interesting. Wonder if this shouldn't be...

"Try it again logged in with the account with your name" Sorry... Same result. Apparently If I change something in the Security section it affects all the users. The only way I found to effect a correction to my actions is to take off the UAC. Make the correction and then turn on the UAC agaib.

When I did this I believe that an adminitrators account was set up. "In the Permissions for H:, hit the Add button. In the box for Enter the object names to select, type the name for your account, then hit the Check Names button. Doing that should fill in the path for your account. Hit ok...

Greetings Maudib, and thank you for your efforts on my behalf. I was successful in setting up the additional account and it seems to work well. I ran into difficulties with the second part of your instructions: "I'll use it to explain how to remove access to the H: for it." I went into...

Vista64 was playing real nice since I installed it a week ago. Now it seems to have its own mind. Went to transfer a couple of pics to a permanent drive and got a notice that "This Drive Is Write Protected" Hell, it wasn't Write Protected" yesterday. Ran a virus scan: Nada... If anyone has...

Hmmm... After reading this thread I checked my last invoice for my new build from the Egg. 12 items, 16 lbs, 3day UPS shipping. $16. Well packed in a 18"x13' carton. Not too unreasonable, I guess. They have always been good with returns in the past. Hope the foregoing doesn't signal a...

OK- I've narrowed my choices to two DFI boards: LP UT P35 T2R LP LT P35 T2R Seems like the major dif in the boards is that the UT supports Hyperthreading, and the cooling is upgraded, most likely to facilitate oc'ing. Not sure if there is anything that I'm missing. Not convinced that the...

Greetings PC Surgeon: No reason to think your a smart ass. Interestingly (or not) as long as I've been shopping at the Egg, I've never used the power search. Seems to be a useful item. My first foray produced 14 boards: 8 Asus, 4 DFI, 1 Gigabyte, and 1 MSI. I'll sort through them and try to...

After much deliberation, I've decided on a P-35 board. Not earthshaking info, I know, especially for you experts, but a real move forward for me. This will most likely be married to an E8500. Anyway my first (old) build was with an Asus P4-Te. I did find the build easy and had no problems for...

Thanks for your advice Akhilles. "optimized for dual core" Think I got that from a review of P-35 boards somewhere. As far as budget goes, I don't mind spending a bit more for a board as I don't change that out very often. Since the first thing I generally up-grade is the vid card, I'm...
