One of the five buildings in my apartment complex caught fire about 5:00 am Friday morning. As you can see, the building was totally destroyed. Everyone got out safely, thankfully. There's a bit of drama surrounding the story--way too much to go into in one post. Just wanted to tell everyone...
I was trying to retrieve some data from an old Win98 drive that I haven't messed with in a while. It would *almost* boot--it froze at the desktop before any of the icons loaded and then went immediately to BSOD-- something like "Fatal Exception in VXDLDR blah blah has occured and will be...
I wasn't sure which forum to put this in, since I didn't know if it was an OS problem or what.
Anyway, computer boots normally until it goes to the desktop. It briefly shows the desktop then immediately BSOD's and complains about "vxdldr" problem. If you "press any key" to get past it, it...

I wasn't paying attention to how fast I was going and got busted. I deserved it; I know I did. I know everyone will say "Don't b!tch about tickets when you know you're speeding." I'm pissed, but at myself. I have gone four years without incident and now this. Dammit. Not really a point to...
I took this picture awhile back of my girlfriend?s car. I took it on a crappy disposable camera she had. Well, she just got it developed and I was surprised at how well it turned out. I really wasn?t even paying attention to the background when I took it. It?s a crappy scan; the actual...
Update:
After fiddling around some, it no longer shows the CPU error. But now, a few minutes after startup, it will either hard lock or spontaneously reboot randomly. Sometimes it will run for an hour or so before it exhibits this behavior. I've tried everything I can think of; please help...
I was driving yesterday in a rural area and noticed a kid (about 4 or 5) standing in front of his house with no one else around. Then I realized he was walking around with a clear plastic bag OVER HIS HEAD. My first thought was of course "Where the hell are this kid's parents?" I don't...
I noticed that the LED on my CDRW stayed on constantly and the HD activity light stayed on also. I rebooted once, and it went back to normal. Then they started staying on again, and a reboot wouldn't fix it. I tried several different things and nothing worked. Then I realized the CD tray...
I was just sitting here, wasting time on OT, when a loud bang shook my apartment. It was quiet it the room, so it really scared me at the time. It was so loud it sounded like an explosion in the woods behind the apartments. That's the second one today! Those crazy pilots at the air force...
The last several days I've been checking my speed on dslreports.com and several other sites, and have been getting between 2.5Mbps consistently and a peak around 2.8 from Cox Cable. Does this sound too fast, or is it about right? A neighbor down the road says he is getting about the same...
When opening certain programs. Then it says pstores has committed an illegal operation and will be shut down. Has anyone heard of this? What can I do to fix/stop it? It's really annoying!
EDIT: Forgot to add I am using Windows 98 and Outlook causes the problem most frequently.
I'm helping a friend decide on specs for a photo editing rig for her small photography business. She isn't very computer-savvy, hence my "help". But I don't know a lot about system requirements about such a rig. She wants to spend ~$1500 including software. Like I said, an entry level rig...
EDIT: Oops. . .Hit enter too quick the first time!
Call a crane. This what happens when you drive a 735 Timberjack track loader into 20-foot-deep mud. This happened to my dad's logging crew.
Uh-oh
Uh-oh again
This is a huge, 75,000 pound plus piece of equipment. It took three days to...
Not even a bump in the road to you lifers, but I'm proud nonetheless. Don't have much time to devote to ATOT, but I enjoy it while I'm here. Thanks for the great community, everybody!
Funny,this is my 100th lock
hahaha party time! :)

Audio in WMA and WinAmp skips while downloading (such as with Kazaa) and/or while a web page is loading. This problem just started--can't think of anything that may have caused it. Any ideas?
This may be a dumb question, but I just don't know how to get "from here to there." I have a BBA in Finance, but finding a job in that field has been tough, plus I'd much rather work with computers. I think I'd like to work in Networking or maybe Databases. Is this even a good idea, the way...
I recently installed Kazaa Lite--since then on several websites I have to press "back" several times for it to go back even one page. Also on many websites the banner ads don't load. I'm not really complaining about that, but it is a little annoying to see large blocks of "page cannot be...
I'm sure this is a stupid question, but what does this mean? I've seen it several places, and am curious as to what exactly it means or refers to. Anyone?

I was thinking of getting an R/C car--I had one years ago, and don't which ones are good anymore. Traxxas? DuraTrax?
I know there's some R/C guys out there--thanks in advance!
I had a debate with a friend of mine over the correct way to pronounce the name of this great automobile. I'm not going to say what I think it is in case I'm wrong:) Thanks guys!
Just heard on some morning financial show that RDRAM was supposedly to have a price increase of around 60% over the next year. I know many people could care less about RDRAM, but since all RAM has been on the rise lately, it wouldn't be too suprising if regular RAM and DDR RAM had a similar...
Have run 3DMark 2001 and get scores around 1800.
Setup:
AMD Athlon 1gig
KT7-RAID
128meg SDRAM
GeForce2 MX
WD 20gig 7200rpm
Does that score sound low, or about right for my setup? Reading things around the net and it seems that people are getting better scores out of a similar setup. Thanks!:D
The northbridge fan on my Abit KT7-RAID board squeals at startup, but after a minute or two it's fine, but annoying nonetheless.
Is this fan essential for proper cooling, or can I just unplug it? Thanks!
