Ok, here's the update:
So I did the cleaning as directed. Now the power stays on, and the computer begins to boot. Once the bios starts it freezes and the top 1/4th of the screen flickers with veritcal lines and that's it.
Motherboard?
Thoughts?
@ketchup79: Moved to Germany!
Yeah, the voltage is different. I lived in 110 before and here its 220. I did check the Power supply and it says that it takes both. In addition, it doesn't have a selector switch between the two so I'm assuming that the change is automatic. My other computer power supplies haven't had an...
Thanks in advance for your help.
I recently moved to another country and had my computer shipped. Upon receipt I attempted to power up. The lights turn on and fans spin for about 5 seconds, then stop for a few seconds, then spins up for a few seconds, then stops and this repeats over and over...
Just ran a calculator on http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine
With all the upgrades I plan other than converting to 6970 (leaving the GPU as 6950), the recommended wattage was 393 , when I substituted to a 6970, it said 478!
Is it really take an extra 80'ish watts to run a 6970 over a...
Thanks in advance.
Just built a new computer, and it is running great. I had some quick questions about my power supply.
Components:
CPU: i5 2500k with a coolermaster hyper 212 plus heat sink
GPU: Sapphire Raedon 6950
memory: 8 gb of Gskill 1600 RAM
SSD : OCZ vertex 3
HDD : 3 TB WD...
Just checked it out last week. More electronics in one place than I could ever imagine. To my HUGE disappointment, the prices seemed to suck.
all the 560-ti's were around 280000 won or about $260. The 2500k was also about the same price.
I was really hoping to be able to get cheap...
Yeah, luckily my brother lives 5 minutes from a microcenter in ohio.
Regarding the GPU, I definitely want to nearly max out the settings in Skyrim at 1080p. Do you still think the 6870 would still be the way to go or should I hold out for a 6950?
1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
GAMING, PHOTO & VIDEO Editing
2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread
I dont really have a hard limit my philosophy is to spend as...
Interesting, I'll take a look at that. Thanks. Any chance it may just be loose or something? Again, Its weird to me that it is not constant. Or is that not so weird?
Yes, an externally hooked up monitor looks perfect.
So does that mean that there is something wrong with the hardware, and not just a software or driver issue with the laptop? Why would it intermittently happen. Again, sometimes the screen looks perfect.
Any solutions?
First, thanks in advance!
Ok, so my laptop is having weird screen issues. Intermittently it will turn cyan (teal blue) with weird shades of blue and ghosting of text. Every once in a while there is a magenta ghosting of text too. It comes and goes at various times, and I have noticed...
I'm no expert, but I think I would try to stick with the intel 2500k for the CPU. It seems to be on the of the hottest CPU's now. Its definitely more expensive though. Places you could make up the difference.
1) the CPU cooler. You may not need one. Your CPU will come with one, and unless...
I'm looking for an iPad like device, but with a larger screen - better for reading textbooks, journals etc (pdf's in full page format) without having to scroll as much.
Anyone know of any tablets either in existence or in development that might fit the bill?
Thanks in advance
My setup
C2D e4300 (not overclocked)
2gb Corsair XM2
9800gt
Want to play Crysis / Fallout 3 etc. .
Will I be CPU limited? Would overclocking the e4300 be enough or should I upgrade? If I do upgrade would a e7300 be plenty of CPU?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
I'm currently running:
e4300 not overclocked
2gb Corsair XM2 RAM
I'm upgrading to a 9800gt from a 8500gt
For games like Crysis/Fallout 3 etc. Will I be CPU limited? Would it be enough to just overclock the CPU? Or should I plan on upgrading to a new processor? Would a e7300 be...
I'm finally upgrading my passively cooled 8500gt on my HTPC. I watch mostly movies, but want to play games as well.
I've decided on the 9800gt (or equivalent pricepoint ATI card). I haven't seen any completely passive models, but a VERY quiet fan is ok. I don't care if the fan kicks up a...
Just went today to take back a 1TB WD drive which was $250 after tax
Don't forget to check the 500gb models!! I just picked up 4 x 500gb Seagate drives for $39/each at the Lacey WA store (no more by the way). The 750gb model was 160'ish
The model was ST305004FPA1E2-RK on the back of...
$229 with $30 rebate and possibly an additional $10 with Google checkout and free shipping. NICE! Not eSATA but usb 2.0. Either way, this is way cheaper than a bare drive.
LINK
Not 100% sure, but this is probably a WD drive, That's my my other Calvary turned out to be.
You can actually get it for $208 AR with FS. Its $228, -$10 for Google checkout or New Buy.com customers or whatever . .
Plus during checkout they offer you a free 1 year magazine subscription, which if you read the fine print allows you to send a rebate for $10 instead off your purchase.
I'll be needing more storage soon. Realizing that 1TB drives are relatively new, I'mcurious if there is word or news of larger drives coming. Anyone have any idea?
I just set mine up last PM, and noticed the EXACT same thing. I'm running a 8500gt DVI- to HDMI cable with the newest nvidia drivers (may 19). During fast motion I see that horizontal line as well. Its hard to see, but I noticed it fairly quickly. I hope there is a fix?
quick question, just starting my build. I first screwed in my brass standoffs and with those in place my motherboard is WAY too tall. Its not even close. If I take off the stand offs and just place the Motherboard directly onto the 6 raises cone-like metal parts it lines up perfectly. I've...
