I had to upgrade to the flash beta because I couldn't play hulu full screen on my 1920x1080 on stock e6400 speed ;/ I notice it a bit. Yah I'm looking at ebay too.
I'm hesitant to get a used one just because what if someone is offloading theirs because of the same situation I'm in?
Since I wasn't planning on spending a lot for 1 more year, After hearing the praise about our E6400s, I will just get a new LGA 775 board and continue to overclock it!
Any recommendations on a new LGA 775 board? The Gigabyte GA-EP45 is selling for $130.. ideally would like to spend $70-80 but...
So what do you guys think? If the E6400 is to slow for my current needs should I replace the mobo to overclock it some more or it's not worth it to invest in another LGA775 motherboard?
I have one of the Corsair HX-510W PSU I doubt it's that. I suppose it could be the motherboard, I hadn't thought of that. If it is the motherboard it might push me to jump to LGA 1156 I guess. It's hard to determine where I'm going to get my most bang for buck at this point for games. If I get a...
I have a ASUS P5B-deluxe with one of the first E6400 it's running stock speed at 2.13 now. It can only stable at clock. I had it running at 3.0 - 3.3 for over 3 years. It's not cutting it anymore. I'm surprised I got so much performance for so long from it!
I'm either looking at another budget...
Does the ASUS P5N7A-VM integrated video support HDCP? Why is that better than just picking up the HD 4350? What would be the best way to get 7.1 sound to from mobo to receiver with those choices. There's not digital sound output unless the HDMI does it on that mobo?
Would e6400 at stock play...
So you're saying just upgrade the video card for a new gaming machine? The e6400 is at stock right now. I had it overclocked for 2 years at 3.0ghz it won't do that stable anymore. I think it will be the bottleneck.
I want to build an HTPC for my tv room. I have a 46" 1080p tv and a 7.1 surround system (Onkyo 606 receiver is really nice). I want to use my current gaming rig as parts for most of it and build a new one.
I think I want my budget to be about 1200 for now because I'll reuse my old video card...
[list=1]Overview of the problem
I dropped the laptop. Every time I turn it on it shuts down at the windows loading screen. I tried reinstalling the OS as well and it does it again. I took out every piece and re-seat it in case the fall dislodged something.
Full description of the problem...
It happens on all resolutions and refresh rates. It's my secondary monitor. I swapped the DVI cable with my primary and slot on my 8800gts and it still does it. So I'm positive it's the monitor. It even does it over the "signal not detected" box when I don't even have the DVI cable hooked into...
I have a 19" BenQ that was recommended in the LCD thread a year or so ago for fast gaming. Mine has vertical lines through it and it's all distorted. It even does it on bios screen. I've already had this crappy monitor in for warranty for not turning back on and power issues. I believe it's out...
The ami beep chart on the p5b-d only has 3 options heh. Mine is hardware failure woot.. doesn't tell me much. I don't know why a system would be so stable then do this. I think it's my video card and maybe a stick of ram went out too.
I pulled the battery out. I'll pull the manual out and look for the jumper.
edit: Ok, I cleared it by the jump setting. Don't think it was an overclock crash though because in the manual it also said that the mobo does it itself on reboot if the overclock crashed or something. Same symptoms -...
Hey, I built this system in Nov '06 and everything has been stable till now. Specs are:
ASUS P5B-Deluxe
E6400
Crucial Ballitx ddr2-667 1gb x2
EVGA 8800GTS (recently new)
Corsair HX-510W PSU
For about 4 months the E6400 was oc'd to 3.2 then I dropped it down to 2.8 and left it there. The...
I'm no noob to building computers so I offered to help my friend figure out why his 6800 go in his alienware laptop was always overheating. I knew that OEMs use those big thick thermal pads that were bad so I brought over my AS5 and we set to work removing those things they had about 5-6 on each...
Sounds like your memory maybe your PSU took it out with it? If you're sure everything is connected try playing around with your memory 1 stick in / 1 stick out see if it will post, if not try to find just another one to see if you can get it to post.
It's probably Vista and it's drivers especially notebook ones are terrible since they rely on the manufacturer to release new ones. I'd look for alt drivers.
I would of reformatted/reinstalled windows as the first thing you did. What unique or odd devices/drivers might you have hooked up to your computer? Are you running XP?
What kind of motherboard? Does it have a link on when it shuts down perhaps during stress like orthos or prime 95? If so then maybe try another PSU if you can. If it's a good company (Asus ect.) and your motherboard isn't that old you could probably get it repaired or work something else out if...
I still tried to do copy the ntldr and ntdetect back to C: like a normal issue would be but I got could not copy the file in windows repair and even a simple dir command wouldn't work in repair.
I'd get a reliable PSU probably like the Corsair HX series and try that first. You're going to need it anyway when you piece your system back together anyway right?
Well, I updated my p5b deluxe to the latest bios. I go to reboot and I get NTLDR is missing. Press ctrl alt dlt to restart. After some googling I figure out how to repair and what to replace but when I go and try that, noticed it changed all my partition letters! My windows install dir was...
That's what I was pretty sure of, so that's why I'm asking.
]It's an ASUS P5B-Deluxe. I built this system last November when everyone was putting together their OC'd C2D system and lots of people used the P965 and everyone was toting this ram and other D9 micron chipped ram as the best...
I have one now well one my mom wasn't really using I grabbed it. It's heavy has a back up battery and all that jazz right? I will RMA the other stick just wondering what the "cause" of this problem was for future reference and understanding. I was under the impression that the chances of a power...
So, I'm not sure if there is correlation here but I thought I'd ask. A thunderstorm rolled by a week or so ago and flickered the power. I have my computer on a pretty nice surge protector though so I thought no worries and left it off till the storm passed. I go to turn it back on and .. just...
When I used my x1950PRO I stayed on 6.12 drivers and ccc. It was perfect for the x1950 pro. But every time I tried to update even a 1 mhz memory overclock would cause flashing. That or try differnt kinds of drivers or atitool to overclock but they don't let you overclock the memory. It was a...
I still like the Corsair HX610W PSU over that one because it's modular but that one does have better sleeving. To each his own though. Spending all that money though I'd get some better ram and a heatsink for overclocking and drop to like the E6420.
Hey all! I found this http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=30981 on my problem after more googling. Apparently I'm not alone. I used the technique in that thread but adjusted for my bigger monitor and it worked.
I just upgraded to an evga 8800gts 320mb superclocked (found real cheap on sale) from an x1950pro. Dual Screen these 2 monitors. After I installed the 8800 and put on the latest drivers from nvidia. The Acer shows text blurry. However, the BenQ is perfect (it is set as secondary) but my Acer...
The cases at ~50 range are all going to have their faults. What matters more at this price level is the stuff inside :P. For those recommending retail. There is no way you're getting what I'm picking out for close to 1000.
What do you guys think about...
Yeah, I was definitely going to wait the weekend while I could scour the net but I'll have no problem waiting till probably Wednesday to see some prices change.
