True, the heatpipe inside the Zalman is a great idea, yet not a selling point for me.
Right now I'm runing the ThermalTake and it is really a great PSU!
Now I should eaither wait for the retailers to restock for the HD 4870X2 or wait untill Nvidia or ATI comes out with a new revisions of...
Great webpage you have, if you are from the jonnyGUru webpage ! ;)
I made some calculations on how much I really need and I found out that I might top 800 watts with this PC if I installed 2 4870x2 cards.
The Zalman has no power switch on its back side which really annoyed me and its...
Greetings,
I'm going to buy one of the following PSUs and I'm just can't really decide.
The Zalamn ZM 1000 or the ThermalTake Toughpower 1200 ?
My PC is overclocked and here are the specs :
C2D E 6860 @ 3.7 GHz
Gigabyte X38-DQ6
4x1 Kingston DDR2 1066 RAM
4x1 WD SATA Hard drives...
Greetings, I'm giving my wife my trusty good old 8800 GTS 640 and buy my self a new 4870x2 card.
The problem is that I'm not sure if I have enough Juice in my PSU unit.
My gear has the following components:
Gigabyte X38-Dq6
Intel E6850 overclocked to 3.7
4x1 GB kingston DDR2 1066MHz...
OK to give this thread some CPR.............................
There are news about a new BIOS for the X38-DQ6, it is the F8 Beta BIOS.
Have not tried it or heard people talk about it but I'll try to catch a copy or post a link if possible !
Hello Mr. Beagle, indeed this is a fine BIOS compared to the ones before it!
I would like to give a small note to any one who is going to own or already own this mobo with DDR2 RAM, make sure you get PC2 8500 RAM (DDR2 1066 ) or above.
The performance of DDR2 800 will hold it back!
I've already reported the new BIOS on the usual X38-DQ6 Topic 3 days ago and no one replied!!!!!!
It is a very fine BIOS indeed, most of my overclocking problems seems to fade away with it.
on the performance side, I haven't touched any real improvements over the F6B but again I have not...
I'm in the airport right now and have no access on my computer...sorry...but Google it!
From what I've heard last night from people and friends who used it they say it is the best F7 based BIOS out there but this is only after using it for a couple of hours so I can't tell unless they use it...
Ok here are some news for you all........ there is a new BIOS out there, Ver. F7h.
I'm downloading it right now, but still not sure if I'll have time to test it cause I'll be taking a flight tomorrow morning back Home!
Guess what....for some reason my X38-DQ6 will overclock fine if I only change the FSB speed and the memory devider and leave the rest to auto!!!!
My motherboard will Auto. the voltage and all the other settings, I'm running my E6850 @ 3.6GHz and haven't tried to push higher.
If I manually...
Ok this is unbelievably strange !!!!
I'm able to overclock my e6850 to 3.6GHz and my RAM on its default speed of 1066 MHz CL5-5-5-12 by making all voltage settings into Auto !!!!!!!!!!!
If I try to manually set any voltage it will not work and I'll get a blue screen as soon as I enter into...
The problem is....I'm not overclocking the RAM....
I own a kingston PC8500 RAM which is supposed to run at 1066MHz and they do if I set the multiplier manually to 3.20 and not overclocking the CPU.....works really fine.
Now with no voltage increase on RAM....the mobo BIOS shows Voltage of...
Ok this is annoying I tried BIOS f6b and what ever I do as soon as I overclock the CPU the motherboard will not run the RAM at 1066 MHz in a stable way !!!!!!!!!!!!
Am I missing something here !!
OK I got the ThermalTake V1 HSF and let me tell you...it is a nice hardware indeed!
Now I tried to overclock....but let me tell you I'm not new to the overclocking world, I've been overclocking since the days of Pentium 1 !
Any way, I found a strange behavior from the motherboard that I...
I tried to get my self a copy of that BIOS but I can't get my hand on what ever I do......
From what I've heard though......it is not worth it yet....
Still all the F7 BIOSes are Buggy as Hell and it is better to use F6B at the moment !
The f7f BIOS is out today, still a beta BIOS!
Since the F7 series BIOS I've heard that there is an increase in overclocking with this Mobo.
The F7f BIOS fixes the PCIe 4x Bug !!!!
I would like to see more fixes and flixability when using 4 sticks of RAM !
Hello Mr. TheBeagle.......
Do you know a good way to attache an 80MM fan to cool the RAM?
Also, I can't decide which cooler to buy, the thermalTake Big Typhoon VX or the Maxorb?
Enjoy it, it is a nice Mobo................. ;)
Mr. TheBeagle, I have an 80mm Fan and I would like to use it to cool the RAM but I can't figure out a way to attach it to any thing !!!!!!!
Any ideas?
OK the new Creative X-FI drivers seem to run fine!
Not a single BSOD at all !
By the way, I got a thermalTake Cyclo to cool my RAM but the space between the VGA card and the RAM is just too close for the Cyclo to fit :(
I found out I have an 80mm fan from my old computer and I think I...
OK I made a fresh install of windows vista 64 and the x-fi doesn't cause BSOD any more !!!
Creative has some new drivers I should try.
Any word on the F6 series BIOS for the x38-DQ6 ?
I was thinking of overclocking but since my PC is fast enough for my needs I'm going to back off the process of overclocking and buying a cooling system for the time being !
My Target now is to wait for ATI new cards and maybe buy 2 for CF support with my x38 since I heard amazing thing about...
Hmm.....this is not bad at all, what RAM do you use and how do you cool them ?
May u stat. the RAM settings that you are using?
Also what voltage are you running that CPU at ?
