    DIY LCD Monitor (Laptop screen)

Well you have none of the limitations of hardware from your laptop or tablet, you don't have to worry about network connection issues. Because basically you are using a monitor that is directly connected to your PC. So it just works, period. Originally I was inspired by the concept when...

    DIY LCD Monitor (Laptop screen)

I'm making a DIY laptop (14" Thinkpad Yoga) LCD that will be connected to a lapdesk so I can hang out in my living room and use my desktop from two rooms away. As I have used this concept for some time with a motorola lapdock and this works great. However, the lapdock monitor is a TN screen of...

    Do I need dual band?

Thanks for the replies I did end up getting a mikrotik RB951G-2HND and hopefully RouterOS frustrates the crap out of me (While learning me) I will try that firmware, and perhaps use the tp-link as a switch. Would disabling the wifi on this thing potentially make it it more stable as well...

    Do I need dual band?

So my TL-WR1043ND v1 is currently not performing as well as I hoped, as it needs a reboot every other day. I live in area where my two neighbors have wifi, nothing else is really interfering with anything. I had no issues with wireless devices and their performance. Only one device...

    Cheap man's nvidia shield (Lapdock)

Thanks glad to share, it is tempted to try other projects, either with the raspberry pi or an android solution for an actual mobile experience. Was considering buying a Hisense Sero 7 Pro with a broken digitizer for super cheap and velcroing it to the back of the lapdock.

    Cheap man's nvidia shield (Lapdock)

Actually the title of this thread is misleading as the streaming from pc concept of the shield was my inspiration to this. To start at the beginning, I wanted the ability to play games or use my desktop pc in my TV room but in a small form factor (As I already have hdmi/usb 1.1 ran to that...

mATX case new Rosewill vs Lian Li/Silverstone/Fractal

Edit: Pictures of non-modular PSU in TJ08B-E, motherboard is ASRock Z77E-ITX Had to actually cut a part out of the backplate of the CM 212 evo so it wouldn't rest on a transistor. http://cdn.overclock.net/8/8a/8a626fa2_Jms7Q.jpeg So, should I remove or keep the hdd cage in...

mATX case new Rosewill vs Lian Li/Silverstone/Fractal

Thanks! Unfortunately though hardhead mode is now enabled for me. I enjoy a challenge. I don't see there being any airflow issues if I play my cards right. I'll let you know how it goes, but my computer won't be completed til a month from now.

mATX case new Rosewill vs Lian Li/Silverstone/Fractal

I'm going to be a rebel and get non-modular, since from what I read from the comments about the room behind the mobo. I just wonder how damned I'm going to be.... :)

CPU being eaten by video card

The AGP Hotfix drivers were used. While the drivers work (Although could only be installed via manual installation), they did not remove the CPU usage issue.

CPU being eaten by video card

Just want to pick your brains, I have been trying to fix an old Dell Dimension XPS. At first I thought there was some malware or some nasty virus eating up the CPU resources but after a total wipe and reinstall of the OS, I have determined the video card is the issue. The processor on this...

    Attention Mid-Range System Builders - Updated 08/01/2015

Thanks, will hope that it perhaps is quieter as well. I do like the fact it is smaller, I am currently using a CM 690, and I liked the Sonata that I came previous to that in terms of size (although ironically the Sonata was louder, but we can blame the dvd drive that was in that system)

    Attention Mid-Range System Builders - Updated 08/01/2015

I have seen that people have been steered away from the HAF 912 due to lack of usb 3.0. However comparing the Corsair 200R, other than the USB 3.0 is there any advantage over the HAF 912? (Other than size, sometimes smaller is better) I just don't see me taking advantage of front usb 3.0 ever...

    Budget GPU For Diablo III

My actual curiosity since the GPU requirement is so low, how would Trinity run diablo3? I'm not even concerned about a constant 60 fps, I'm talking the cheapest of the cheapest computer setups. But completely playable.

    So my 4870 is dying

hurray! Finally a wee bit better on the cooling after reseating.. I actually reached 37C which a HUGE improvement over prior 50C @ 3.2GHz at idle. (From the previous cooler) On load it now won't touch 65C. Apparently these HDT coolers need a little different approach on applying thermal...

    So my 4870 is dying

And to see the awesomeness of my motherboard. Set at 1.35V CPU-Z shows 1.312v at IDLE and 1.28v at Load.

    So my 4870 is dying

Only thing I can do at this point is reseat the new cooler again. Its funny though, I thought maybe being how my front intake fan is disabled it would make a difference turning it on. All it does it make noise, no change in temps what so ever. Hell, even with the CM 212+ I don't see much a...

    So my 4870 is dying

Ok now for the update on the CPU side of things, I ended up getting the CM 212+ I would say I only got about 5 degree drop at idle, but it seems to hold its own a little better on load... Before I would hit 70C at stock while on load. Now I will not break 60. So, onto the wonderful...

    So my 4870 is dying

Nah I don't have a switch, and I didn't replace it because I was cheap and lazy, and I was happy with the temps at the time. Although I probably switch the side panel fan with the front fan, I would imagine drawing in air at the front would be pretty significant. (I'm assuming it is suppose...

    So my 4870 is dying

Heh I'm a bastard to this computer then, from the beginning I disconnected the front fan (with the blue LED) and the side fan.... I only recently reattached the side fan. Don't know if I have it in me to have that stupid LED going again. Who knows maybe this is all the reasons for my woes...

    So my 4870 is dying

I have a CM690, so I doubt ventilation is an issue. Its about 76F in the house. The 4870 was artifacting even at 'lowish' temps, to test it I would run the fan on 100% (Blow dryer noise), see that is pretty cool, fire up a game like Crysis and it would still fail in like a minute. I doubt...

    So my 4870 is dying

Eventually I shall buy the Corsair A50 cooler (When I get the moneys) and depending if I see some real changes with temps I shall attempt an OC. I should receive a 6870 tomorrow. The only thing I to keep my eye on is how my memory will impact my OC, being a noob and all.

    So my 4870 is dying

I believe I bought the Scythe originally for its ability to be quiet and not OC ability, I'll check out if (and how) speedstep is enabled. My motherboard apparently has voltage droopage issues, however I should still be able to get a decent OC out of it if I can get these temps down.

    So my 4870 is dying

I did use artic silver 5 when I reseated (and when I originally did it as well) Although I'm sure even right now I could probally keep it under 75c at 3GHz, I just wasn't sure what I should limit myself to on the heat since I am OC noob.

    So my 4870 is dying

^^^Beaten on the 12mb cache. I went ahead and bought the 6870 listed above (thanks), being how I wanted deus ex anyways. I reseated the CPU cooler earlier today because I thought maybe that was the problem as well, however the temps only dropped only a few degrees. Perhaps it is the...

    So my 4870 is dying

Good to know, the 6870 @ 159 AR with dirt3 and deus ex is pretty hard to pass up. However, the problem I'm having is getting this damn q9450 to decent temps in order to OC to begin with. I thought since I had non-stock cooler I wouldn't have issues, yet at stock I am having 50C idle and up...

    So my 4870 is dying

Thanks for the suggestion, so a GTX 460 or 6850 would be the max one would recommend this computer to take? I probably won't buy a new card immediately as my 4870 still works as long as I don't open a game. (Well barely, I downclocked all the way possibly prevent artifacts in windows)...

    So my 4870 is dying

Wanted some advice on what video card would be best with a Q9450 @ 2.66 (I suppose I could overclock it if nets me better options) Wondering what would be the best performance choice before hitting a bottleneck. Thanks (And I don't need a new video card right away, if the 7xxx series...

I recently bought a new Visiontek 4870 1gb. Tried several different catalyst drivers, however the manual fan control option simply does not exist. Googled my life away, but to no avail to this issue. Any suggestions? Using Win7 64bit if that helps. (Have another Visiontek 4870...

    4870 and WC3

Ok apparently going into regedit, I noticed that WC3 had set refresh rate to 75. Which in any other circumstance would be ignored, being how I have an LCD that is only capable of 60Hz. Changing this to 60Hz fixed my problem. Who the hell knows. I suppose the good news is I learned I could...
