I have two routers that I wired together. This configuration has worked for several months without a problem, until just recently when they decided to act up. In order to help, you will need to know a little about my network. I have two sides 192.168.2.1 and .2.2 the .2.1 is connected to my...

    Dedicated Server Behind Router

I'll check prices for a smaller connection. OC-12 is the fastest. They probably won't run the fiber optic cable, and it's all underground to the nearest pole that is 1/2 mile away. I'll defiantly upgrade to the 15/2 with the servers allowed in the TOS. I'll just run a server for me and some...

    Dedicated Server Behind Router

My ISP can run Fiber Service. I'm not sure on the exact speed, but their website says it has speeds scalable up to OC12. They allow servers in their business class service. I will be upgrading sometime soon.

    Dedicated Server Behind Router

I am expecting to set up a server this summer, and I know that I will receive a static IP address from my ISP, and I have a dedicated box to run the servers. I was wondering if the router will mess up th IP address for the server, because it is different than the networks global IP address. If...

    UPS Battery Explosion

I am getting servers soon, and I obviously need to get a UPS. I've heard stories of their batteries exploding and since they will be in my bedroom, I really don't want a battery to explode. Should I be worried if I get a UPS of it's battery exploding?

    Adding a HDD w/o RAID

I was wanting to get another HDD for my computer. It is running a Intel D945GNT Motherboard, and has 4 SATA channels with built in RAID. I want to install the HDD, but I don't want to run RAID with it, just have it regonized as a separate HDD. Is this possible, and if so, how do I do it in...

    RAID Booting

    LAN Party Servers

I am setting up an LAN Party and I will be using Dedicated servers. I was wondering what software to use. Crossover or regular wiring?

I am getting ready to wire an ethernet cable with two RJ45 Plugs on each end (like a giant patch cable) it will run directly between a switch and a computer. I was wondering if I need to wire it as a crossover cable, or as a regular cable. (I am using this guide.)

    Good Server Case

That's true, but I was aiming more toward that they're in the same spot, kinda like a rack (they're too expensive though). I may buy rack cases, then mount them into a homemade rack. Rack Cases are a little pricey though.

    Good Server Case

    P2 Server

I have an old P2 board laying around w/ memory and Ethernet. I am planning on building a dedicated server for counter strike, and I heard that you can run a server with a p2 and a bit of RAM. I was wondering if that will work, or will it flop. If that doesn't work, I will use it for a file...

Safe to use a higher Voltage/Amp AC adapter on notebook?

With That voltage it would seem fine. Be care ful that you son't severly overcharge your battery, because they can catch fire and explode (and I mean explode) but the half volt higher, and the extra amp won't hurt.

    PC to A/V Receiver Connection

There are linksys streaming audio things. I haven't used one personally, but they run on a wireless netwoerk and use file sharing.

Why is my WAN access light always blinking?

It is because your ISP uses a switch that repeats the signal to all clients, so your router is getting your neigbors Internet requests, but rejecting them because they are not addressed to your network.
  37. D

Is it good to put a router in the attic?

It would be smarter to mount it onto the celing. It would be one less layer to send the signal through and more accessable. You can run power and ethernet through the attic, then drill through the sheetrock to get them to the router.

    Server PSU

I have a 450W PSU that is laying around. I was wondering if it would work for a p4 server. I'm not sure of the brand becuse the label with that info got scratched somehow. The server would be a small file server with about 4 users, and a counter-strike dedicated server.

    HDD - External Vs. Internal

I would go with the internal drives. They would have a higher access speed (it sounds like you don't mind the speed though) You might be able to find a raid 1 card for redundancy. In windows, you are able to set the hard disks time when they turn off after inactivity. I'm not sure if this...
