    Asus P8Z68-V Pro BIOS update?

Hey guys, I'm getting ready to put together my new computer this week and I'm looking for a little advice on possibly updating my motherboards BIOS. I'm not sure what version is currently installed (any way I can tell?) but I noticed on the Asus website the newest version is 1101. Should I...

    OCZ Vertex Plus 120gb question

I saw both of those kits on newegg and they are priced very well and have lots of reviews. Could you tell me what the difference between Ripjaws and RipjawsX is? Would the G.Skill be better than Mushkin Blackline?

    Need help choosing a cooler

Looks like an incredible cooler, but unfortunately is a little bit out of my price range. I'm looking for something in the $60 range with $70 being the limit. Is the Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme still a good cooler?

    OCZ Vertex Plus 120gb question

I think I made the right decision. Sure, the drive could have worked perfectly, but after reading some complaints about OCZ I'd just be much more comfortable going with the Samsung product. Also, since this is the memory and storage forum, rather than making a new thread can someone...

    OCZ Vertex Plus 120gb question

After seeing Anonemous's post I decided to just return the drive and get my money back. I ended up leaving the store with my new motherboard (Asus P8Z68-v pro). I think I'm going to order the Samsung 830 128gb in a couple weeks when I order my RAM. Thanks everyone for all of your advice.

    OCZ Vertex Plus 120gb question

Yeah reliability is a pretty big concern. I just want to install it and not have to worry about anything crazy going on. The samsung 830 sounds like a pretty good deal. It comes with an adapter and a copy of batman arkham city

    OCZ Vertex Plus 120gb question

So for booting windows 7, running frequently used applications, and a couple of games (skyrim, BF3) the vertex plus won't be noticeably slower than a vertex/agility 3, and should be MUCH faster than a HDD? and it should also be more reliable (no freezing, BSoD, crashing, etc.) than one of the...

    OCZ Vertex Plus 120gb question

man...this is all so confusing lol. I really think I want to get a newer/faster sata III drive but what you're telling me makes me real nervous. I could go to compusa right now and get a 120gb vertex/agility3 for $50-70 more than I paid for the vertex plus, and might see if they can price match...

    OCZ Vertex Plus 120gb question

Also, is the Agility 3 better than the Solid 3? I've heard the Vertex is better than the Agility, but is it worth the extra money for my intended usage?

    OCZ Vertex Plus 120gb question

It's unopened and I don't plan on using it until my build is complete around christmas so I still have time to decide if I'm going to return it and spend the extra on a faster drive. If I do, what should I be looking for?
  13. L

    OCZ Vertex Plus 120gb question

Do you know how reliable that drive is? I'd be willing to spend the extra (no more than $200 though) on something better if the performance and reliability is worth it. Or should I just go for a 64gb SSD for Win7 and keep all my games/applications on my caviar black?

    OCZ Vertex Plus 120gb question

I just bought a 120gb OCZ Vertex Plus SSD for $129 to use as my OS drive and storing a couple of my frequently played games and applications. I've read that this drive uses an old controller and is only SATA II. Will this drive be good for it's intended usage or should I return it and go for...

Z68 - Asus vs MSI vs Gigabyte

Can you use 3.0 as long as you have a gen 3 motherboard, or do you have to have an Ivy Bridge CPU as well?

Z68 - Asus vs MSI vs Gigabyte

I'm the same boat as OP and I'm curious...is it worth spending the extra on one of the Gen3 boards? I know it supports PCI-E 3.0 but when is that going to come out?

    Recommend motherboard for 2500k build

How are you liking your board? I was looking at that one too and it seems to offer a lot. Have you overclocked with it yet and if so how well does it OC? Any stability issues or anything worth mentioning?

    Recommend motherboard for 2500k build

I was actually looking at some of the ASRock boards and they are a very attractive option. I just worry that they aren't as big of a company as the others (even if they are an ASUS product) and the warranty isn't as long. But basically you're saying that the P8Z68-V Pro is a very good, if not...

    Recommend motherboard for 2500k build

Do you know anything about the slow POST issue some people are having? I saw a thread on this forum and some others saying it's taking 15 seconds plus for their computers to POST with the asus boards. Not that it's a huge deal or anything but I'd rather not wait forever to start up my computer

    Recommend motherboard for 2500k build

Thanks for the advice. I'm not set on sticking with P67, I just didn't know if Z68 was much different. What extra feautures does the P8Z68-V offer over the P67 version? Also, if I were to go with the GEN3 would I get more performance out of my video card? And how good are these boards at...

    Recommend motherboard for 2500k build

So I'm making the jump to sandy bridge and I'm looking for a good motherboard to go with it. I plan on overclocking it as much as possible, and may add a 2nd 6950 down the road. The three boards that have caught my eye so far are the Asus P8P67 Pro, MSI P67A-GD65, and the Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4...

    Shopping for a SSD

I just wanted to mention that my motherboard only supports SATA II (gigabyte ep45-ud3p). Should I use that to determine which drive to purchase? Also, would a 64gb drive would be enough for my OS and frequently used apps, and maybe a few games (mainly skyrim and BF3)? I know I'd feel more...

    Shopping for a SSD

Hey everyone, I'm shopping for a SSD to use for my OS, games, and apps. I'd like to get a 120-128gb and there are a few that I am looking at. So I just bought a GTX 560Ti...

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I decided on the 6950 2gb so I could save a little money that I'll most likely put towards a SSD in the coming weeks. I'm hoping it will live up to my expectations. Either way, I'm coming from a 4870 so any of the options should hopefully be a nice upgrade.

    So I just bought a GTX 560Ti...

I already returned the 560Ti as the 6950 seems like the better deal for only a little more money. I plan on buying this card from newegg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102945 This is better than the 560Ti right?

Thanks for all the replies so far everyone. I'm definitely going to return the 560Ti in a little while. Now I'm just trying to make the final decision on the replacement card. So I just bought a GTX 560Ti...

I actually went to compusa planning on buying a 6950 2gb, but they didn't have any 6950s or 6970s in stock so it was either the 560Ti or 570. I didn't want to bother with ordering and waiting so I just grabbed the 560Ti while I was there. What is your opinion on the GTX 570? I may run back up...

    So I just bought a GTX 560Ti...

Hey guys, I purchased a GTX 560Ti from my local compusa store to replace my aging HD4870. The main reason I'm upgrading is to get the best possible visuals from skyrim, BF3, and most other new games at 1920x1200. I haven't opened or installed the card yet because I want to make sure it was a...

    4850 xfire or single 4870???

Not really dreaming. I saw a nice looking 24'' at an office max where I live last weekend for $250 after a $100 instant rebate. I do think I'm going to go with the 4870 though, just so it will last a little longer. Should I get a 1gb or a 512mb? Would they do well in crossfire with a P45...

    4850 xfire or single 4870???

Thanks for the reply zod96. I want to play newer games and future games (alan wake needs to hurry up), and have them look as good as possible. The only reason I was leaning towards a 1gb 4870 is because I've heard that the extra memory helps when using AA. I'm probably going to get a 22''...

    4850 xfire or single 4870???

Also, I forgot to mention that I am talking about a 1gb 4870. If I went for the 512mb 4870 I could probably squeeze the monitor in about a month or so after I build, if not right away. Guess it depends on what kind of black friday deals newegg has :P

Hey everyone, I'm new here and I'm building my first gaming rig soon and need a little help on picking a video card. I'm trying to decide between getting a single HD 4850 and running crossfire on a P45 board later on, or getting a single HD 4870. I'm getting the gigabyte ud3p, and a Q6600...

advice on cpu for gaming pc build

Trying to make the same decision as the OP. Been leaning towards a quad because I like to multitask and want to be able to watch a movie on one monitor while playing a game on the other, etc. Would a Q6600 be a good choice for a quad core for gaming? I plan on overclocking it once I learn how.
