    Intel i3 530 & Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H $100 AR at Frys

Here is an Anandtech review of the i3 that compares it to (among others) the Phenom II x4 630 & 935. The i3 looks more comparable to the 630, performing better in single and double threaded tests and worse with more threads. It performs much better than either of the AMD chips in power...

    Intel i3 530 & Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H $100 AR at Frys

I saw a big banner outside the store saying it was their 25th anniversary, but I didn't notice anything special inside. Maybe tomorrow and through the weekend. This particular deal was in Wednesday's paper.

    Intel i3 530 & Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H $100 AR at Frys

I just picked this up in SoCal. Intel i3 530 and Gigabyte GA-H55-UD2H for $114.99 - $15 MIR The rebate I got today was only good through purchases today, so I don't know if they will extend it. You have a choice of the GA-H55-S2H as well, though I don't know why you would pick that over...

WD Caviar Green 2TB SATA $99 after rebate

It worked last night. I went to CompUSA through Bing and searched on WD20EARS. I applied the $10 coupon from another site. I didn't see anything saying that Bing wouldn't work, and after ordering I got my email from Bing with the 12%. I didn't do anything special.

    Fry's in Northern California - Intel i5 750 + Intel DP55WB ($229)

Are you sure about that? You can't get the i7 alone for anywhere near that price, let alone an MB combo. [edit]: Frys did have the i7 with a Biostar awhile back for $240 after a $20 rebate. Not exactly the same price ($30 more, and you end up with a Biostar), but still a good deal.

    Fry's in Northern California - Intel i5 750 + Intel DP55WB ($229)

    am3 710 phenom II $49.99

Nope, its totally not worth it. The perfect weather would probably be too much for your system, and the threat of riots every 20-30 years in a small part of LA to which I have never been and will never go is enough to keep any east coaster away. I probably shouldn't tell you this, but since it...

Skype Killer - Magic Jack - $20.00 a year phone service

Originally posted by: fastabc VOIP works well as long as you have a good internet connection... In theory, that is another advantage to the Ooma setup. Ooma sits between your modem and your router, so it can suck up all the bandwidth it wants. That means your VOIP will always get first...

Skype Killer - Magic Jack - $20.00 a year phone service

I had my home landline ported to Ooma two weeks ago. So far I haven't noticed any difference. I split the line (with the standard splitter that came with the Ooma) and plug it into a four handset base station and to my DishNetwork DVR. The DVR is happy and the phone works fine. I have read...

Skype Killer - Magic Jack - $20.00 a year phone service

Is that plan part of their U-verse? My understanding is that U-verse phone service is VoIP, so I am curious what difference (if any) exists between AT&T VoIP service and one of the third party providers such as Magic Jack? Does AT&T have any advantage if they are both VoIP?

Starbucks FREE pastery day! July 21st opening to 10:30am

I got out of the habit of Starbucks when I switched jobs.. I haven't been at all in at least 6 months, and just don't miss it. Once every couple of weeks I go to a local coffee place (much better coffee and better pastries, for slightly less money), but what I really discovered is that for...

4 Pack of High Resolution 6 foot HDMI M/M Cables (Gold plated) version 1.3b

How do these compare to the cables that have been for sale at Amazon for quite awhile now? The Amazon cables all seem to be $2.98 shipping a piece, but cost very little. If you need less than four or want different lengths, are there any problems with these? HDMI (2 meter) 6 foot cable HQ...

Skype Killer - Magic Jack - $20.00 a year phone service

That is my biggest concern as well. I based my decision to try it in part on the cost breakdown in the following article. I didn't understand how Ooma could provide the service at no costs, but the article spells out the actual costs involved to connect calls, and explains how even if nobody...

Skype Killer - Magic Jack - $20.00 a year phone service

I know it doesn't take a gaming system, that is why the energy price I quoted was for a pretty efficient machine, not a gaming rig. If you can get a free machine that will run at 5w, then more power to you. I'm willing to bet your EEE Netbook cost substantially more than $189 if you bought it...

Skype Killer - Magic Jack - $20.00 a year phone service

First, my voice landline was my dsl number as well. I had a dry loop dsl installed, and once it was working I dropped the dsl on my voice line and dropped the voice down to a minimum plan ($13.95). I will have to pay the $13.95/mo until my number is ported (about 3 weeks worth). Second, you...

Skype Killer - Magic Jack - $20.00 a year phone service

I just got Ooma, a competitor to MagicJack. It has a higher up front cost, then no monthly fees at all (as long as they stay in business!). It cost me $189. There were two reasons why I chose it over MagicJack: Ooma is a stand alone device that is not attached to a computer, and Ooma allows...

Not Hot! Don't buy gift cards this year!

As store after store goes into bankruptcy, CC provides another good reminder to be very careful buying gift cards this Christmas season. When stores like CC go belly up, gift card holders often become just another creditor that stands at the end of the line, making them essentially worthless...

    LA Times crazy cheap.

The really sad thing is that the LA Times is probably STILL a top 5 paper in the US. It may suck relative to what it used to be, but so does just about every other US paper. I still like getting a paper, and, unfortunately, the LA Times is about as good a paper as you can find these days after...

    LA Times crazy cheap.

I just jettisoned the pathetic San Diego Union-Tribune, who just laid off the few decent writers they had left after major layoffs each of the last 3 years. The Times has its issues, but it is still night and day better than the UT, and this deal is way cheap. The UT is $6/month for Thursday...

    Free College Books For Students

I kept all of my books too, for the same reason. It has now been twenty years since I graduated. I doubt I have cracked a single one of my college textbooks in the last fifteen. My library keeps growing (there weren't a lot of good C++, Java, Oracle or XML texts available in 1987!) but my...

Cooler Master eXtreme 500w PS $9.99 after $30 MIR at Frys.com

I just picked up the Cooler Master eXtreme Power 500w. It is $39.99 - $30 MIR. It seems way too cheap to be any good, but the reviews I read were decent and the prices elsewhere were a lot higher. I am assuming this is RP-500-PCAR (that is what the rebate is for), but frys.com doesn't say...
