Computer powers on, beeps, dies soon after

Well, i picked up a new mobo, and am having the same issue. I get the post screen and then a warning about it overheating. I am guessing my CPU is shot. Possibly from the PSU going and causing overheating? I am grasping at straws here.

Computer powers on, beeps, dies soon after

I am having the same issue. Just purchased a new power supply as that began making an awful racket the other day. Put new one in, and PC fires up then quits. Is there an easy way to test/tell if the mobo is shot?

    Help needed

I emailed Gigabyte to see if I was covered still. This is the reply I got. I don't get any beeps at all in the POST. The fans fire up and run but that's about it.

Well, I think I am going to order a new motherboard. Any suggestions to go with my Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600?

Ok, well. I got it semi-fired up again. I think my main HD is bad. My mobo might be shot too. None of the USB ports seem to work, the video card is hit and miss. One time I'll get the splash screen then it'll go to the black (bios?) screen then lock up. The next multiple times the screen...

Thanks, I'll look into that. Don't have one at the moment and this PSU was salvaged from my previous build so maybe it is.

    Help needed

I built my second computer in early January of this year. It had been running fine for 5 months. About a week ago it started to shut down on me. I thought my memory had gone bad (so a memory scan said so) so I replaced the RAM on Friday. It worked fine all day Friday after the RAM...

Thanks for the tip. I had already picked this up at zipzoomfly for $190 (the full retail version)

    New build questions

I figure I will just salvage the PSU out of my current computer. I really am laboring over the OEM or retail version however. I wonder if it's worth the $100 for the peace of mind to go with the retail version in case I choose to upgrade in the near future.

    New build questions

Thanks for the replies. I have changed the case to this one instead. I switched the DVD burner to the SATA version. I meant to do that in the first place. And will probably update to the retail version of Vista.

    New build questions

Here's what I have worked out. Does this sound decent? Also, what is the difference between Vista 32-Bit and 64-Bit? Should I go with the 64-Bit instead?

Ok, I'll look into the 256 version. Yeah, I plan on using Photoshop and right now it takes a while to load and work with. One of the main reasons for my upgrade.

    New build questions

Thanks for the reply. The mobo I would go with would be the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L Intel P35 ATX that was mentioned in the article. I did build my last computer 4 years ago. How about a comparable video card to the PNY?

    New build questions

I know just enough about computers to be dangerous, so please bare with my (idiotic) questions. I don't do a lot of gaming. Mostly internet, photo editing (amature photographer) and possibly video editing in the future. I read the budget gaming pc guide and was thinking of building that...
