I doubt this too. When it rains it pours for sure, and they are in big trouble with the problems with their mobile and possibly other chips.
The only way I see nVidia dropping chipsets is if they go bankrupt or are bought out by another company. Both scenarios I doubt (but is possible...
I can see this as some sort of 'ROG" or DQ6 feature, but not on mainstream motherboards.
Perhaps a card with an ultra cheap CPU and 512mb of ram to do a BIOS update or recovery. The card could plug into a PCI-E slot and would only be plugged in while troubleshooting. This would most likely...
@keeper: Try turning off the power saving features in your bios. The updated bioses had new cpus added, and "updated DES" which indicates the issue was with their power saving technology.
I was getting solid spikes in the 2000 range with the F3 bios on my DS3P.
Just updated to the final F4 bios posted on the 18th and my latency is solid around 50, with a few spikes in the 400 range if I am scrolling, loading stuff, etc which is completely normal.
Glad to see this has been...
I too am waiting...really looking forward to it as everyone in all the forums are quoting the tweaktown article as the definitive answer to this question.
The internets are waiting Mr. Key!
Yeah I would stay away from those Gigabyte boards until they fix the dpc issue (they keep firing off beta bioses but don't seem to have the guts to call a bios final and post on the website). Since the issue has been around for a while, I doubt they will fix it
I haven't heard of these issues with the Asus boards in particular (however many boards will have some issues with 4 sticks of ram from many manufacturers). My DS3P has been excellent (booted up right away, OC first try using no extra volts, rock solid), but I do have some issues when creating...
Bought my EP35-DS3P about 2 months ago and ran into the latency issue and I am tired of waiting for a proper fix so I will be moving to a new motherboard.
My current setup is in my sig, but I was going to swap in the Asus Rampage Formula. Does anybody see a potential problem? Anyone have a...
Well I want to overclock and I hear that this beta bios affects overclocking ability (ie voltage settings). To be honest I haven't tried the beta so it might be fine for me but I don't feel comfortable using a bios that Gigabyte doesn't have the ball$ to call final and post for all to use. I had...
I am hoping that they have some more time as well. Blazer all those factors you mention are valid and I touched on a few of them but I still should not get left with a new board that has an issue that seems to have an easy fix (if simply re-using older code fixed the issue for many). I can wait...
I am kinda worried about this right now myself. At first I was thinking that this issue will be fixed in no time, with some seeming 'older code' fixing the issue in many cases (bringing other issues though, it seems). Seems to be taking a long time for Gigabyte to issue a non-beta fix for this...
Hillary Clinton is doing to the Democrats what Paul Martin (ex, Canadian Prime Minister) did to his party, the Liberals.
The Liberal Party was in a great place where the voters mistrusted the alternative parties and they enjoyed relatively easy elections...then, the head of the party (then...
From what I have read the DPC spikes are often caused by drivers and / or other software running so that would explain why some people get an improvement or a change when rebooting. In fact, if you read the DPC checker software under the graphs it will tell you to check your drivers to correct...
I would flash using the bios utility (Q-flash)...with windows running, and processes such as antivirus etc might cause your update to hiccup. Using the bios utility helps to take the OS and related software out of the equation
You're certainly right Darkrogue about being wary of 'official' sites....as cactusdog said, if gigabyte had their own forum hosted on their domain or similar it would be easier to find reliable help. However, that Tweaktown forum seems to be as official as it gets for Gigabyte

I have a variant of the DS3R (DS3P) and have been very happy with it. OC first try with no problems...any settings I have tried and it didn't like it reset itself. Worked perfectly with both my OCZ and Mushkin ram (didn't use both at the same time...upgraded to 4GB Mushkin).
There is an 'official' Gigabyte support thread over at the Tweak Town forums. This thread in particular is addressing this issue:
http://forums.tweaktown.com/f6...latency-spiking-26456/
The forum is monitored by a Gigabyte engineer who is passing around the same bioses as Colin on here for...
This post in the gigabyte forum also confirms your post:

Guy unplugged the esata cable that was not plugged into anything and spikes practically vanished.
Not my particular issue but may help some.
Any P35 chipset based board will do for you. The Gigabyte line as krnmastersgt mentioned is a good value. A few small issues (ie. DPC latency...check out the forum here, may not be a problem for you) but I built a system with the GA-Ep35-DS3P, which is very similar to the DS3L, with 4GB Mushkin...
Lol is that the 680i board from Mr. TheBeagle's epic thread?
The beta bios is helping some people so I think/hope a fix is on the way. Is anyone else able to report no issues with this?
Yeah I think we have to give Gigabyte a chance to fix this via bios first.
What are our options though if this doesn't get fixed? Another model won't fix it as the problem, as you mentioned, is across their entire product line.
I would think that this should be fixable, or there will be a...
@Louis
I am in the same boat as yourself. Mostly yellows and I have not seen the problem in real world apps yet, however I have not had the time to try any real audio/video work as of yet.
I set the volts for my memory to 2.0 (my ram could take 2.3 and still be under warranty). I set the cpu volts manually to the default (not at home now to verify...I think 1.25 or something). Left the nb volts to "auto" and just changed the fsb to 333 and away I went. I also set the fsb ratio to...
There is the 780i (DDR2) and the 790i (DDR3). I would stay away from the 680i boards, as they do not support 45nm quad core chips. You may see a few on special because of this.
Another potential issue is some people have reported data corruption issues on nVidia Intel chipsets (particularly...
Got the DS3P and I have the issue as well. I can wait for the next official bios to see if it fixes this without any of the loss of voltage settings I have read about here (and I believe I read about that bug in the TweakTown Gigabyte forum as well).
Coles notes:
Did a bunch of research on this and Intel P35 fits your needs right now. I just switched from Amd (been using their chips for about 10 years now) and the basics I found were:
P35 (sometimes there is 'Express' after the P35...same thing) is as Darkrogue said, the budget king...
Q6600 at 3.0ghz stock volts (set manually as to avoid auto volts increase, everest confirms this). Each core gets to about low-mid 40c running 4 instances of prime (can't recall exact temps). I think I can push it further no prob though but I'm ascared ;)
Reading a few posts in the technet forums and it seems build 5512 is the version that was released to a few OEMs and was never intended to be the version released today 9or supposed to be released).
DarkRogue you were right about the "2.0" setting....ram now operating 1:1 (confirmed CPUZ) at 333mhz for my 3.0ghz oc.
Still looking for info about the 'regular' PCI sync clock. If I can't find this perhaps an email to gigabyte support?
Thanks! I did lock the PCI-E to 100mhz to protect the video card.
I'll look for the 2.00 setting. Right now my ram timings are too high (7-7-7-20 2T, 1066mhz I believe, auto settings here) and this ram ran at 4-4-4-15 2T on my last board so much more tinkering to do after I am comfortable...
Hey guys hope someone can help me.
Looking for the BIOS settings for the PCI Synchronization clock (want to make sure it is at 33mhz) and I want to make the FSB ratio 1:1 but I can't seem to find anything like that in the bios. Reading the mobo manual tells me to get the 'advanced' bios...
@KillerG: Well I have heard or read about legal threats in various threads around the web and I don't recall ever seeing anything coming of it. Let us know how it goes but if you are getting lawyers involved I would suggest you choose your words carefully if you say anything at all. Does anyone...
