Hi all,
I need some advice from the experts. I have an 3 - 4 year old server box just sitting in my room. My younger sister who is in High School needs her own computer (wants it really). so the current set up is as such:
- Intel Server Board S875WP1-E (on board video but no DVI)
-...
Ok. My main problem is that my 802.11g Buffalo router doesn't provide enough range down to the first floor of my home. i would like to have the ability to work anywhere in my home...currently not possible. I don't have any equipment that currently have N adapters. My laptops I am sure don't. I...
i need a MFP and i want a canon. but i have been considering if ink jets are really economically a good choice compared to laser color MFPs. up front it costs less to buy a color inkjet but in the long run is the color laser printer cheaper?
i am building a development server (won't be live). i will install server 2003 standard and sql server 2k. i will be using to do coding/development at home. i just want to make sure that i have stability and try to get 2 years out of it before i have to upgrade/build. i have been thinking...
Don't know if it has been posted, but i just picked it up. it seems to do everything under the sun. and that way i can buy the nec burner oem from the Egg.
i was figuring going linksys, but after researching here a little i think i'll go dlink. but what about the actual card for the 2 pcs. should i buy dlink as well? usb or pci? and what about all the talk about 2.4Ghz phones being a problem. i have one downstairs, and the network would be...
i want to get one and they both seem tempting. could someone weigh in on this...shuttle an35n & amd 2200 retail ($99) or ecs N2U400A & amd 2600 oem ($90). thx
i am really interested in building a pc w/ video onboard (nforce2), but the one thing i didn't know was if i could use dvi connection w/ the onboard video or do i need a separate video card. thanks. i'll hang up and listen now.
i have an old gateway gp6-300 (p2 300Mhz) w/ 80 mb ram sitting around. and my little sister said she could use a machine to do school work/email/surfing on. i want to do so very CHEAP upgrades to make that a functional pc. the mobo i know can't be upgraded and i have thought about ebaying...
i am looking to buy a 17in lcd. i prefer to buy something with a very good warranty...planar. i would also like to have dvi. but after reading through many threads, i started to realize that some lcd could be the same since they use the same substrate (?). not that i have any idea what that...
i will be doing running processor-intensive applications. does that equate to an intel or amd? i understand a little about the difference in architectures between the two but at a very rudimentary level. and i can't afford to be wrong about this...
How does this 'feel' in terms of his statement? and by feel i mean both the validity of the statement and the feel of the machine. don't mean to start a flame here but am curious.
i am getting an amd barton 2500. i don't know whether to get the retail or oem version. i wanted to know how load or quiet the stock hsf is. the hsf i would probably get if i went oem would be the artic cooling tc super silent pro.
i am looking for a nforce2 mobo for a barton 2500 retail. i am looking to find out which mobo is the most stable board stock and/or the fastest board stock. they may not be one and the same i guess. thanks
my system i am building will be a P4 2.4C on abit IS7. I am not a gamer (some thing cheesy like simcity maybe). but i would like to watch an occasional dvd on my rig. mostly do programming/web/Database work. i am looking for a video card. i don't mind spending some money ($40-80) if i...
ok...i tried to put together my shopping list but i am going crazy w/ all the options and choices. but i really want to build one and not buy a prebuilt. i tried hard using this board and others...i am just too new at this i guess.
my purpose is simple: i want to build a good machine to be...
to preface this conversation, i am not an avid or huge gamer, but do like to play games occasionally. i was trying to decide between getting a graphics card (something decent and under $50-60) or get an IGP. either way i play to get a nforce2 mobo w/ amd 1700. i was thinking that one...
ok, i am trying to build my first pc. i have decided that i will get an amd 1700 and i don't plan to OC. if the FSB is only 266, then will i see a performance increase by getting memory that is over ddr 266 pc 2100.
hi all,
i am looking at the viewsonice a90+ and the nec fe991sb. both are priced within $25 of each other. i was looking at the samsung 900nf but wasn't too sure. any opinons? thanks.
i have decided on the evercase 4252. and now i am deciding between which PSU brand to get. i am looking at the following makers: antec, enermax, seasonic, nexus, and zalman. and comments as to which would be better? having a quiet psu would be nice. thanks
i have been doing some research and have tried to narrow down what i want. i am not yet down to specific components.
1. p4 2.4 and cheap motherboard (none dual channel)
2. amd 2200 and nforce2
3. p4 2.0 and good motherboard
which combo yields good value? i would love to keep the combo under...
hi,
i need some help in building myself a machine. i am completely a software guy, and know very little about the difference in hardware. i will be doing Microsoft development (.Net). would a amd 2200+ or intel p4 2.4 chip be enough? what if any differnce would i find? mind you most of the...
i have narrowed my choice for a 19in monitor down to the Samsung 900NF and the NEC FE991SB. any opinions on either...or another similar quality/price that i should be thinking about. thanks.
i am torn between the two systems: (a note i have no desire to overclock)
1) p4 2.4 533MHz FSB w/ nice, but not dual channel motherboard
or
2) amd 2100+ w/ nforce2 (dual channel ddr)
which would build the better/faster/more stable system?
thanks for the help
i was looking at a 128 MB ati 9000Pro, but someone suggested the 8500LE is better. anything else i should be looking at. btw, i am not a heavy gamer, but want nice graphics when i play.
at this point i am tempted, greatly tempted, to wait for the athlon 64 over getting the p4 2.4 now(or nearer to Xmas time, hoping prices drop so more). any opinions?
incidently i spoke to a guy (chip architect/family friend) at motorola/siemans about amd vs. intel. he asked some of his...
sorry about the repost, but i posted the original in the general hardware forum. my bad.
my monitor (which is 4 yrs old) has an odd problem. the monitor just turns off on its own, but the power led on the front of the monitor shows green (still on). i then turn off the monitor and then on...
