I guess so?? I have it plugged into my laptop until I get my desktop built. As far as I know, it's running 1920x1200 according to the settings. Very satisfied with the results so far.

I dunno how awesome the Dell U2410 is, but I just got on my new HP ZR24w and, for the price, I can't complain. It blows my old HP LP2065 20.1" S-IPS panel out of the water. The size is definitely impressive in comparison, but the colors really pop on this one compared to my old panel. I'm...

If anyone is interested, I saw the HP ZR24w on sale at tigerdirect for 399 minus 10% to 12% bing cash back and free shipping. Total was like ~$350 from what people calculated. I don't know how good of a company tiger direct is though. any thoughts?

pulled the trigger on a HP ZR24w from buy.com with discover 5% cash back. gotta say... moving to california last week has really sucked when it comes to buying stuff... higher taxes, newegg is here, and recycling fees on electronics... FML

8% bing cash back sounds substantial. Did it really work? I remember trying to get into Bing back in December, but it seemed like too much red tape.

Are there any coupons, credit cards, etc... to discount the price of the HP ZR24w? Cheapest place I found was by doing a search on google-shopping. One store has it for $399 with no tax and free shipping. It shows 29,000 seller ratings and average of 4.8 out of 5.0. Does this sound legit...

    Recommendation?

Maybe I could get something cheaper then.

    Recommendation - Silent case

Zap, do you know the cheapest way to get the Solo? I'm not building a new rig for another month here, so I can wait on a sale.

    Recommendation - Silent case

True but check out the antic solo case. The way the hd's mount keeps them from sending vibration noise through the chassis. Every little bit helps

sounds like the HP ZR24w is a pretty darn good buy at $318. scratch that. just found out the ZR24w is not on the 25% off list.

New i3-530. Help me overclock this one.

Thanks for the extra info. Is it safe to go with ECO sticks that have better timings and CAS latency?

I've been seeing this ECO stick a lot lately. What's the difference between this and the Ripjaws?

Recommendation - i3 board to use the IGP

Is there a motherboard used more often than others with the i3-530 that allows: 1. good overclocking 2. use of the built in IGP Also, which memory sticks will overclock easily?

Impressions on HP ZR24w 1900x1200 Display?

    Recommendation?

Thanks again for the info. After about an hour and a half of reading up on SSD, I think I'm caught up in the market. I decided on the Intel X25-V. Still a monumental improvement over any Velociraptor.

    Recommendation?

Sold. I don't care how much it costs. SOLD. oh yea, thanks. :D

    Recommendation?

I actually have to give up my current computer while making my move to CA. Is SSD a faster HD option over WD Velociraptor? (i think i already know the answer, but maybe specifics would be good)

    Recommendation?

Great! So the Corsair 400W would leave plenty of room if I overclock.

New i3-530. Help me overclock this one.

    1. I'm putting a new rig together. Can someone recommend a good board to OC' on? 2. I was planning on using the built in HD graphics so a H55 north bridge is mandatory (i think). Does this limit me in the OC department? 3. Which ram should I use?
  21. R

    Recommendation?

Thanks for the articles! I think I'm caught up on the newest processor offerings. I think i3 is definitely the better choice here.... and yes, H55 north bridge is a must. shoot, i might as well overclock this badboy. thanks guys. this was much less painful than i thought it would be...

    Recommendation?

You guys lost me on the IGP. I haven't read techy stuff since 2007, but it sounds like CPUs now come with a built in graphics processor. Is this good enough for my needs? 1. web surfing - i stare at my screen about 5 hours a day so I'll shell out for the best (video/monitor)... if it...

    Recommendation - Silent case

    Perfect. Thank you!
  24. R

    Recommendation?

Also, thanks for the recommendation on the Corsair. I think the price tag is attractive enough to just buy it. Granted, the noise level is definitely minimal to something else in the room.

    Recommendation?

I think I remember seeing some link to a "calculator" which tells you how much power you'll need. Does anyone know this website?
  26. R

    Recommendation?

Why i3? Absolutely no gaming. Only movies (streaming netflix or actual DVD) and internet browsing. I guess I shouldn't have said 1080p. I'll be getting the Dell U2410 or HP ZR24w.

Impressions on HP ZR24w 1900x1200 Display?

I'm in the market for this too. The major comparison seems to be this HP and the Dell U2410.
  29. R

    Recommendation?

If you can't hear it, then I'll pay for it... but I want the cheapest one that will fit this description. :) Can you list the ones that are known to run silent? I used a SeaSonic last time and it was practically inaudible.

Building a simple system: Core 2 Duo E8400 or Core i3-530 Video - ??? something that will handle movies (DVD, HD 1080p) and text reproduction... if the video card even matters for that (text). Thanks!

    Recommendation - Silent case

Title says it all. I have the Antec Solo. Is there anything better for my new build?
  32. R

    Recommendation?

A simple system: Core 2 Duo E8400 or Core i3-530 (no overclocking) Video - just enough to run Windows 7 and watch movies (no games) Storage - WD Velociraptor + WD 1.5TB 5400rpm Media - 2xDVD-RW I'm looking for a PSU to run silent. Thanks!

Which would you buy? 1. Dell U2410 $499.00 2. HP ZR24w $318.75 (25% off from company) I could also wait for the Dell to go on sale. In any case, which would you pick and why?

Greetings xtknight and others, I've been lurking this thread for several years and came back for another recommendation. Xtknight, your recommendation on the HP LP2065 was pretty darn awesome and has lasted me until now. I'm on the verge of graduating in May and I'm in the market for...

    Printer issues with windows 7

I've had issues with my HP LaserJet 1022 on Windows 7 (32bit). The print spooler service craps out and I've had about 50% success starting it manually. The other 50% of the time, it says "No printer installed" I used Vista 32 bit drivers.

@OP: Hi XTKnight. I haven't been around in a while but my HP LP2065 SIPS is still going strong! Thank you again for the recommendation several years ago. I came back to ask you about RivaTuner. I'm running Windows 7 beta and I can't seem to get RivaTuner to work. Do you know if there's a...

To Xtknight or other experts: My company is giving me an allowance to buy a LCD. If price were no object, can you recommend something for reading text (internet) and reading X-ray imaging (mostly black and white). Grey scale would be a major issue to see the tiny differences. Thanks in...
