Router Question - Linksys EA6900 vs Asus RT-N66U

I see... I think going with just a router is going to be the simplest way to get started. Down the road I can continue educating myself, when/if the router turns out not to meet my expectations. For now a switch seems redundant to me as I have trouble seeing any real benefits - which I am sure...

Router Question - Linksys EA6900 vs Asus RT-N66U

Ok, very cool idea! I read up a bit on access points in the meantime and have a better understanding of Ap's now. So... basically I can get an Ethernet switch such as the TP-LINK TL-SG1005D and an AP device and have the same thing a router would accomplish. Regarding the switch, I plug my...

Router Question - Linksys EA6900 vs Asus RT-N66U

What is the UniFi AP? Is it a router? I see the AP stands for access point, but I don't know what an access point is.

Router Question - Linksys EA6900 vs Asus RT-N66U

Yeah, I wasn't really considering any of the TP Link routers. It was on my option list at one point, but got discarded for one reason or another. Dang... Looks like I am back to square one... Perhaps I'll just bite the bullet and go with the Asus RT-AC68P.

Router Question - Linksys EA6900 vs Asus RT-N66U

Sorry, I did not see your reply until just now. I have been looking at the RT-AC68U, although not really considering it due to the many reported USB 3.0 issues and the fact that it is over my budget. As far as the issues go with this particular unit, the USB port is not shielded and causes...

Router Question - Linksys EA6900 vs Asus RT-N66U

Thanks for the input guys, that is too bad to hear about both Asus dropping connection! We have the Netgear R6400 at work and it does the same thing - the router needs to be rebooted every now and then, and it seems completely random. Definitely less than once a day, but usually every 1-2...

Router Question - Linksys EA6900 vs Asus RT-N66U

Need help deciding on a Router. Currently I am looking at the Linksys EA6900 and the ASUS RT-N66U. I was ready to pull the trigger on the Asus, when I came across the Linksys - they are both the same price but the Linksys is ac whereas the Asus is N. Both routers fit the budget (~100USD)...

Antec's excellent Customer Service is one of my main reasons I keep buying Antec products. I have dealt with them on several occasions and like I said, they have always gone the extra mile for me, where other companies would not have. I mean, I bought this case on eBay! Most manufacturers flat...

    Noiseblocker NB-eLoop B12-2 and B12-3 Review

Just curious as to why you say the NB's don't perform well on radiators. Isn't high static pressure important for high density radiators? The Scythe's have much less static pressure than the NB's.

    Noiseblocker NB-eLoop B12-2 and B12-3 Review

Thanks for your reply. You just saved me from making a $60 mistake! For now I might just stick with a pair of Corsair SP120's since I have a side window and I'd need to sleeve the Slip Stream's first.

    Noiseblocker NB-eLoop B12-2 and B12-3 Review

Do you have a recommendation which model would work best for an Antec Kuhler 920 Radiator in a push/ pull config? I'm thinking of going with a pair of B12-P's. Since the fans are PWM regulated they should be pretty much silent unless I start stressing the CPU and oc'ing, right?

    Hitman: Absolution crashes

Thanks for the feedback Bill Brasky! I submitted the RMA but haven't actually sent the card yet. What stumps me is that everything else runs without issues - leading me to think it's not the card but something caused by the drivers, a setting in Catalyst or by the program/ game or a combination...

    Hitman: Absolution crashes

I do have the same PSU, only the core components changed from one build to another. Hard drives, case etc are all still the same. I doubt it's the PSU though, but I might take a Voltage Meter to it anyway just to rule it out as the culprit. I requested an RMA, I'll report back in a few weeks and...

    Hitman: Absolution crashes

Ok. The card is in a completely different board (brand new) now than it was when I was having that issue with Heaven. in my old rig I had no issues with Hitman whatsoever. Still having that same issue with Heaven though. And now the issue with Hitman. Still running Catalyst 13.1 not overclocked...

And I wasn't even running Heaven oc'd! Thanks for easing my mind. Other than that, here's my stable OC. (ran Hitman: Absolution for about 30 mins and Future Soldier for about 20, Future Soldier froze with the clocks up to 1175) Not bad for such a low ASIC score I suppose.

    Radeon HD 7950 Owner's Thread

Ok, so I have come to the conclusion that those white flashes are 'normal' and I have nothing to worry about. Likely they are something similar to those black glitches people see in DX9 games. 'Normal' as in 'something AMD may or may not fix down the road with a driver update. I still don't know...

Sorry, I thought those white flashes would be obvious because they were to me. That's what I was referring to. EDIT: It flashes like that in both the bench as well as the demo.

Can someone please tell me what those white flashes are in this video? No overclocking, this is running the card at stock (although I have oc'd it up to 1050 before). The card is only a few days old. Did a clean driver install upgrading from my 5850 using the official ATI Uninstaller. I see this...

    Which 7950?

Ran the Hitman Benchmark with zero issues. Those white flashes only appear in Heaven Bench. Other games will sometimes freeze for a split second, as if loading. I'm still running this in my old rig (Q8300, 2x4GB DDR2, P43-UD3L board), everything else is in what's in my sig below.

    Which 7950?

No alt-tabbing. At one point I was uploading a video, it does appear that I had more of those flashes while uploading. But even when not having anything running in the background I had those flashes, just not as frequent. What's weird though is that this happens only in Heaven, not any of the...

    Which 7950?

Ok, so I ran Heaven benchmark at stock clocks a few times now and notice that the screen flashes white from time to time. Could those be artifacts? I'll try posting a youtube upload here in a bit. EDIT: Ok here's the video. Are those artifacts? It shouldn't be artifacting at stock clocks though...

    Which 7950?

Uhm... No (set power limit). I guess I should a bit more homework before I start overclocking. I do monitor temps and clocks though! I use Afterburner OSD.
  28. B

    Which 7950?

Only played with the clock a little, got it to 1050 with no issues at all but haven't tried pushing it any further (yet). EDIT: Actually I take that back... I just ran Heaven Benchmark back to back with stock clocks and with clock set to 1050 and realized that at 1050 there are noticeable lags...

ASIC is only 56.2 on my Dual X. I'm wondering if I should get a new one. But that would be lottery all over again.

    Which 7950?

Thanks for confirming. I got my Sapphire today and the stock voltage is indeed 1.25. Haven't messed with it much other than pushing the clock up to 1050MHz without any issues.
  31. B

    Which 7950?

Stock Clock - 850 Boost Clock - 925 I interpret this as "up to" 925 = not stock. So the Sapphire 7950 stock clock is 150MHz lower than Gigabyte's WF3 stock clock? And the Sapphire 7950 boosted to 925 is still 75MHz lower than the WF3's stock clock?
  32. B

    Which 7950?

Stock clock? :o Or is that after boost is applied?

    Which 7950?

Thank You for clearing that up! I was under the impression the 68xx replaced the 58xx but it was the 5750 & 5770 that were rebranded into 67xx. This whole rebranding can be a bit confusing.

    Which 7950?

@mazeroth: I am not allowed to reply to your PM due to not having "enough posts" (wtf forum rules?!?!). I tried sending an email to your email address but have no way of knowing if it went through or not.
  36. B

    Which 7950?

I ended up getting the Sapphire 7950BST for $230 after rebates and selling the Never Settle Bundle that came with it.
  37. B

    Which 7950?

Correct. The 6xxx series and the 8xxx series is a rebranding of the previous gen, so technically those aren't 'next gen'. My soon to be retired 5850 outperforms the 6850 in almost every aspect.
  38. B

    Which 7950?

raghu78 stated in a previous post that the Sapphire comes with a higher stock voltage to allow for a higher overclock out of the box, but the voltage is locked. The Gigabyte's voltage is unlocked and has a lower stock voltage.
  39. B

    Which 7950?

Thanks for the info! That put's it into a different perspective. I ordered a Sapphire 7950BST (11196-16-20G) today, I'll report back what the voltages are once I get it. Either way, I'm sure it's a great card in terms of performance as long as one has an adequate PSU.

    Which 7950?

This review here isn't exactly raving about the 7950 w/ boost. 6% performance increase over the regular 7950 at a 10% increase in power consumption. Good performance for $ though. Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing
