    Budget of $250 for CPU/mobo/RAM?

    It'll do just fine.

    Thermal paste on 'boxed' CPU?

That depends on your intentions with it, I would suppose. Stock cooling with no OC, I see no direct NEED for it. On the other hand, if you're planning on slappin' a Tuniq tower and sending that 7200 straight to 4Ghz, then AS5 might be in order.

IS IT WORTH WAITING FOR NEHALEM

Geez, they might as well rename the forum AnandBashZone. Of course, they probably bash anybody that post reviews in favor of intel architecture.

    Best heatsink/fan for a Q6600?

I have 4 sticks, 2 1GB and 2 512mb, and my board runs at 415fsb. Those are 667 sticks too, and they are clocked at 830. As long as you feed them the right amount of volts, you'll be golden.

    Overclocking and Windows

Lately, I've noticed a bunch of questions about windows stability after overclocking, and that most of these questions stem from the fact people aren't aware that the process can corrupt windows. I've read through the overclock guides and such, but I didn't see anywhere that it recommended...

Why do I feel the need to keep upgrading...when I don't even need the extra processor power?

It may be a disease...but at least it keeps you out of trouble, right? I mean, it's better than blowing that money on something worse...like...I dunno...hookers? Of course that's assuming you're in a relationship...if not...disregard what I just said.

What is considered stable when OCing a cpu

 Doesn't matter how much a program stresses your cpu, if it is corrupt, it will crash every time.

One Program Constant Crash, Still Stable?

Was your processor overclocked when you installed your current windows setup? If not, the overclocking process tends to corrupt random files/programs. Your IE might have been affected.

SO lost looking for a new Motherboad

Biostar has seen major improvements in their recent mobos. This one fits your price range, and has quite an array of accessories. Not to mention it supports the latest 45nm procs and can hit over 500fsb. I know you don't want a massive OC, or xfire, but this board leaves those options open...

    Intel Cpu choice.

Yes, it is supposed to go down to $316. If you can get a 9450 fro $279 now, though, it would be just as good of a choice. Only thing you're paying for is $36 more bucks for 0.5 more multiplier.

Voltages are whack in bios update

I have the biostar TP43D2-A7 mobo, and have been in the process of ocing my 6400. It's running all good at 410*8, and it was doing it with stock volts (auto setting in BIOS). That was about 1.29 under load. So then I notice there is a new BIOS for the board on the website. I use the flash...

    A low cost intel rig?

Not true. Take a look at this article. An intel 2160 darn near matches the 5000 throughout the article. Now, look at the difference between the 2160 and the 2140. Now imagine that same increase between the 2160 and the 2180. The 2180 will either match or outdo the 5000. Then look at the...

    And you would be correct.

My 3dmark06 score seems too low...

Sounds about right, actually. Try using ORB's comparing function, see how your system stacks up to others. I just did a quick search for results based on C2Q with mhz range of 2399-2401 using 4850s. Highest score was 12841.

    Question/s about my mobo

I just purchased this mobo. The question I have is about the molex connector right above the first pci-expressx1 slot. It's listed as the "auxillary graphics power" connector. So...what would this be used for exactly? Video cards without 6-pin pci-x connections yet still need a little extra...

Quick CPU poll -which would you do?

Thanks for all your input, guys. Based on what you've said, I decided to acquire a new mobo and unlock my current 6400's potential. From what I heard, there is supposed to be a price drop on intel procs sometime soon, (not to mention talk of an E7300) so I'm going to hold off on the E7200 for...

Quick CPU poll -which would you do?

Quite possibly the silliest board in the world. A P5NSLI. I have an E6400 in it. Should I just invest into a new mobo instead and OC my current proc? It's stepping is B2.

Quick CPU poll -which would you do?

Trying to get some people's opinions based on current prices. I'm trying to see which is the more logical choice for performance. Its the E4600 vs E7200. They are currently at $119 and $129. I like to mildy OC, with my mobo set at around 300 for FSB. This makes the choices a...

    Recommended thermal compound?

The brand arctic silver seems to be the most effective, therefore, most popular. The only thing you have to choose is whether you use their Ceramique type or their silver type, called Arctic Silver 5. Main difference is Ceramique is non-conductive. Personally, I use the Ceramique on my cpu...

    Q6600 for $149, Q9300 for $209

    Wow, that 149 Q6600 was available the hour ago I posted this...now it's wish-listed.

    I'm confused!

I think I get it now, you're saying that on LF/CF it's all one consolidated deal, whereas with BF, it connects to everything through its single QPI link.

    I'm confused!

I've tried to research and make sense of nehalem as much as I can, but I need some help from someone on what all this QPI stuff means exactly. In my research, I've found sources state that Nehalem will feature QPI links across the board. Now, I've read that the more mainstream procs, like...
