    Are you happy?

Never been better! I haven't worked in three years, doing the Mr. Mom thing. My wife is great and my daughter is one happy girl. I can't remember what it was like in the rat race world. We don't have as much money as we used to but that really is subjective. Life is great right now.

Do you like where you live?

Denver is great, but so far not enough snow for my taste. The wife and I have thought about Alaska but we really like the Denver area. I'm thinking we just might move up into the mountains and enjoy the winter year round.

How much would it cost to build a town from the ground up?

I know in Orlando they built a new town called Celebration, the fist phase was fairly small and was budgeted around 25 billion. This included the roads, schools, hospitals and basic infrastructure to provide power water and sewage. Not cheap at all.

I saw the new Star Trek movie tonight

I saw it tonight too, they gave out free passes to an advanced screening here in Denver. It was good, but different. But definately a really good movie.

    AIG exec resignation letter

So what I get so far from this thread is the blue collar workers can get crapped on all day, but don't touch those wall street elites. Yes, lets pay huge bonuses to the same idiots that ran the company into the ground. Sounds like a great plan to me. That money is gone, and they are working us...

Jay Cutler has asked for a trade

McDaniels is a dumbass. You have the worst defense anyone has seen in a long time, and the first things you do about it are replace a good long snapper and try to trade your 25 year old pro-bowl QB. Idiot. It was so bad last year that everytime the Broncos had to punt the QB knew he was going...

how the heck did baseball get popular in japan, korea and taiwan?

How many scouts do you think are combing Africa or any of the other third world areas of the world looking for the next big talent? They are all over the Dominican looking for any kid that has talent and getting them in organized leagues.

how the heck did baseball get popular in japan, korea and taiwan?

Because it cost money to get involved in those sports. The reason soccer is popular in the rest of the world is because all you need is a round object and a field. Baseball, football and basketball requires an investment by the players. If you can't afford the equipment when you are young you...

Is Sony intentionally trying to kill Blu-Ray?

At this point Sony is still selling the PS3 for a loss, they are at least 5 billion in the hole so far and who knows how much they paid out for the Warner Brothers and Fox exclusives just before CES last year. So basically Sony won the HD battle but lost the HD and console wars. It does my heart...

    DVD authoring

Try DeVeDe, it's easy to use and works great. Converts pretty much all your files into an ISO that you can then burn to dvd. Never had a problem with it. It will be in the repositories. Here is a link to get you started: http://ubuntuforums.org/showth...highlight=devede+guide

Ultimate fighter vs. Navy Seal- who wins?

As a former member of the military I can honestly say there are two kinds of enlisted personel, those that know and those that do. You don't ever want to meet the latter. I don't care who you are. If you doubt it, then you have no idea how the world works. And no, I have no special evidence for...

Ultimate fighter vs. Navy Seal- who wins?

I would love to see the MMA fighters in a combat situation, a pants change would be a natural item for them. I have girlfriends that could have made them hit the barracks for a change. Step out of that tight a** box and see how things work. Death is alot easier than you want to believe.

What you should know before going to America.

I lived most of my life outside the US, and most of this is accurate. As for big cities in the US being as safe as cities in Japan, you couldn't be more wrong. It's alot different, I never feel as safe here at home as I did overseas in all parts of the world.

    egads!!

I have been home with my daughter for 2 years while the wife works and this was the primary reason. She's in kindergarden now but the aftercare is still $175 a week for 3 hours a day. We are still deciding if the cost of a second car insurance etc. is worth it to put me back to work.

New HDTV --- Do I need a new DVD?

Don't let everyone talk your into the Blu ray camp. It's not worth the money and will likely be the next Laser Disk, just get an upscaling DVD player and go with your plans for the Roku box. There will be more content available on that anyway.

This is why you dual boot with Linux, get familiar with it before they try this crap. When they do you will be prepared.

    *** OFFICIAL NFL WEEK 17 THREAD ***

What defense, my Broncos have none! If Slowick the defensive coodinator isn't walking the F*ck home, aaahhhhh!! I can't believe how bad they are on defense. Throw all the bums out and trade Champ Bailey, just start over.

If all 50 states got into a war...

Colorado is in the top 5 in intellegence and test scores, try again. And hacking codes from the source, (Norad) would be alot easier here than from 1000-2000 miles away.

If you have Vista and XP have you fully switched over yet?

After a month or so of Vista I gave Linux another try. I have not been in a windows environment since. If my wife can use it without a problem I can't imagine it has to be user friendly. I use what works for me.

Made the move to Ubuntu, not missing Windows at all. For me the Vista nightmare is over, and I have no intention of reliving it with Windows 7.

Obama does it again: Over 100,000 in Denver

I guess you had to be there, 100 thousand people in one place to support one man. It was electric and so positive. It actually felt like things might actually change in this country. I am in no way a sappy person, but it seemed like politics could bring something more than promises.

Obama does it again: Over 100,000 in Denver

Butterbean, you really are an ass. I was there, what you can not see in the pictures is the amount of people that really were there. Obama does it again: Over 100,000 in Denver

Get used to the blue in power for the next coulpe of years. Republicans had a chance to move this country in the right direction and failed in a spectacular way. Shut up and sit down, at least till you can come up with something better than the shit you have been serving for the last 8 years.

Obama does it again: Over 100,000 in Denver

I was at the rally today, and there were closer to 150,000 people than 100,000. Im not sure who is saying 50,000 but they could not have been there and honestly called that number. Now 50,000 in Ft. Collins I can believe, for a town of only 120,000 to to show 50,000 is a real feat.

Troopergate Reaching Critical Mass: ABC Interviews Monegan

No matter the outcome I would think the republicans would want this cleared up sooner rather than later. Having this hang over till will only give fuel. I just don't see how they can help themselves, they will somehow "fix" things like they always manage to do.

Going to spend labor day weekend in Denver

You might want to check the win percent versus the rest of the league for the last 20 years. I'm betting Denver is in the top 5.
