How to play Jones in the Fast Lane on a Vista?

Actually, when I run setup in DOSBOX in my Vista64, the response from the CD is that I need to run it in Microsoft Windows. I assume they mean Windows 3.

How to play Jones in the Fast Lane on a Vista?

I have an old CD that I think can be used with DOS or Windows 3.1. Any idea how to play it on a Vista? I know they have a Flash port of the game now, but the voices weren't ported to the Flash version, so I can't hear the HR guy tell me, "Why're you asking for less wages?"

    Immunizing applications like Spybot?

Are there other immunizing applications like Spybot out there? I like the idea of having a blacklist of sites that are blocked altogether rather than just the viruses and spyware being filtered out. I just don't know if Spybot's immunization database is always fresh.

Vista64 sometimes hangs when going to sleep

Well, the thing is on S3 mode, it works most of the time exactly as intended: maybe even 99% of the time. But when it doesn't work, it's consistent in its symptoms, and is likely to cause some data degradation, and if the wrong data is corrupted, then there is the real concern. I doubt it...

Vista64 sometimes hangs when going to sleep

When I try to put my computer to sleep in S3 mode, most of the times it works. Sometimes, it will hang with the fans and other lights still on, but it just hangs forever until I manually reboot. ------- Abit IP35-E, E8400, Vista64Ult SP2.

What portable MP3 players allow deleting MP3s from the device itself?

I have a Sandisk Sansa e260, and I usually load it up with speeches that I don't need to hear more than once. But there is no way to delete the MP3s that I'm done listening to unless I hook the Sansa up to a computer. I'd rather just delete the file right there on the device. Are there...

    Broken LCD screen on VX8350

The phone is working fine otherwise, but I think the LCD portion is cracked and nothing can be seen on either the front or the backside. The outer screen itself isn't broken, just the wafer inside. It's a nice phone; I would hate to just have to throw it away when it does function ok.

Blackberry Curve 8330 vs. LG Env2

Hey these are great suggestions. I personally love clamshells (ie LG VX8300) because I ALWAYS get the screen cracked with non-clamshells, but with QWERTY keyboard phones, I would imagine the annoyance factor is greater.

    Edimax EW-7128G chipset?

Straight from the horse's mouth, Edimax itself recently emailed me back saying that the EW-7128g has Ralink RT61 chipset. The interesting thing is that RALink doesn't have a specific RT61. I think what they mean is RT2561 or RT2661. Either way, I tried to install the RT2500 driver, and it...

    Remember each folder's settings

Thanks, I have that particular setting off by default, so that's even stronger evidence that it's not the CCleaner causing it. In fact from the other posts, I get the sense that this is just a Microsoft screw up. It almost makes me feel better that it's not some quirky individual problem...

Blackberry Curve 8330 vs. LG Env2

As of now, I will only be doing calls and texting on either phone. For those who might have experience with either or both, I'm wondering if the Blackberry is excellent enough on just the calling and texting to put it above and beyond the Env2. Thanks.

    Edimax EW-7128G chipset?

Thanks. That link was very helpful. The reason I was confused was because I allowed Vista to automatically update the driver, and it downloaded the 25xx/26xx chipset driver instead of the 2500, and because the drivers worked, I was wondering whether some Edimax EW-7128G might be based on newer...

    Edimax EW-7128G chipset?

I have an Edimax EW-7128G, and I know that its chipset is by Ralink. I think it's chipset might be either 2500 or 25xx/26xx, but I can't tell for sure. Is there any way to find out what its particular chipset might be?

    Remember each folder's settings

I do have it. However, I ran it just now, and it didn't clear my folder setting. Do you know of any particular setting that would clear the folder setting on CCleaner? Otherwise, from seeing the results after running CCleaner, it seems like it's something else and not CCleaner.

    How is Auslogics so fast?

I understand that a deeper and more thorough defrag can be valuable, and I think there is a place for that. But Auslogics seems to get the job done for the most part. I'm thinking there must be a huge trade-off, but how come other defragging software don't allow options that make it end as...

Remote Control works when batteries have been out...

Ok, this is for a portable AC appliance so if you'll bear with me... I have a Haier portable air conditioner that has a remote control. It works for a few minutes after the battery is in. If the remote is left as is with the batteries in, it stops functioning properly. But if I...

    80mm to 120mm for Thermalright SLK-800?

I've had this cooler for a long time, and now I just want to reduce the noise on this thing. Regular 80mm to 120mm converters probably won't work. Here is the image of the SLK-800. Any ideas? Thx.

    High Quality Sub-C batteries

I'm trying to build a battery pack for Roomba, and a lot of the aftermarket brands I see are "Tenergy." Are there any Sub-C battery brands that are known to be of very good quality such with 4500mhA that have long life cycles?

Coin batteries from standard AAA type batteries?

    Seagate 500GB model comparison

The only thing I noticed in the specs was that the 11 version has 32MB. Does anybody know how many 500GB models there are, and what's what? I can't make heads or tails of them just by doing a quick look at the specs. ---------- I found that the 12 is a single platter. So that...

What happens when you do a sector-by-sector copy to a smaller hard drive?

Regardless, these types of smart sector copies don't seem to get it right for Vista64 as I experienced. Whether dunkster's explanation is 100% or not, the problem exists. I don't know what's causing it, but it would be nice to know since that would give some of us a clue as to how these smart...

What happens when you do a sector-by-sector copy to a smaller hard drive?

Thanks. That helps a lot. I used a bootable CD of CopyWipe v1.14 to clone a 320GB Maxtor to a Hitachi. When I tried the smart copy with proportional partitioning option, my Vista64 needed a bootfix to make it work ok. But when I used the raw sector-by-sector copy, the copying result was...

Free backup compressed partition images like in Vista?

Has anybody successfully ghosted and restored Vista64 with SystemRescueCD? When I tried a straight up OS partition imaging with BartPE using DriveImage XML, the restored drive crashed and burned badly, so I get the feeling it's not just a matter of imaging and restoring, but that restoring a...

Free backup compressed partition images like in Vista?

So far, for Vista64, Macrium has come closest to what I need, and even then Macrium has a few issues on its Rescue CD. So far, trying a LiveCD version of DriveImage XML and Norton Ghost 12 have not been good experiences for my Vista64. Again, I am disgusted with Microsoft for not properly...

Free backup compressed partition images like in Vista?

The latest version 2.02 seems to be promising for Vista32 and XP. However, I haven't had any luck with the back up process using Vista64. This is actually even more important now that I've realized Vista's complete backup doesn't work for different hard drive types.

Free backup compressed partition images like in Vista?

    Atom as file server

For me, though, I am really looking at an ultra low wattage system. I am hoping for something like 30W total for an always-on solution. I already have a Core 2 Duo HTPC, so all my desires to turn my NAS into what it doesn't want to become won't be much of a temptation for me.

    Atom as file server

I would just like to pair up Atom with a good mATX or ITX motherboard, if they ever come out with a good one. With the Atom, a Gigabit adapter, and some 500GB HDs, I would imagine some great always-on home file servers can be had which are much faster and more flexible than the specialized...

Has SSL been dealt a huge blow by SSL sniffers?

With the SSL sniffer, you can pretty much read even SSL in clear text, so wouldn't there be a big risk in having a middle person somewhere along the way mimicking the handshake and cancel out the SSL protection?

    Formatting newegg reviews
