January Steam Survey - AMD continues to be #1 provider of DX11 Video Cards into 2011

Mozilla Firefox 63.05% Interesting. What is going on with the multi-monitor resolutions? There are exactly 3 resolutions that make sense on that list, and 3200x1080 is definitely not one of them.

    Calibration Software under $150?

There's no such thing as calibration software without calibration hardware. The Spyder3 Express is under $150 and should be okay for a beginner.

Does eyefinity increase your field of view in games?

In eyefinity games like this are effectively broken, much the same as a game that does not alter the FOV at all and just stretches.

The fall and rise of Fermi and nVidia.

Doesn't really matter what it can do, unless it can go from 4 minutes to negative 41 minutes. If the 285 is already so low, how mindblowing would it be if the 480 cut that in half? You saved a whole 2 minutes? If that kind of time is worth it, you may be in the market for a Quadro anyway.

    i want a 2560 x 1600 LED LCD. what are my choices?

Nope. Well, not the way you mean. CCFL backlighting tends to have dim areas at the corners, and LED backlighting can have bright or dim areas basically anywhere. Edge-lit LED screens tend to have vastly worse uniformity than either CCFL or matrix backlighting. But you were talking about...

I don't think this is the same series as those boot drives, but Kingston did just release the SNVP325-S2 series with TRIM and upgrade kits.

Will the PCI-E 4x slot significantly hurt Crossfire performance?

Maybe yes, maybe no. Here's a test of how limiting PCI-e lanes affects the performance of a single card, but I have NO idea if that means anything for crossfire. This old article compares old Core2 chipsets, but it's hard to draw any firm conclusions from that test as some games and settings...

XP wasn't? Don't even answer that, it was. Just the way it is with MS OS... unless you count 7 as something more than a Vista SP.

    nVidia "3D VisionFinity"

TH2G is a gimmick because it is a hack job that cannot deliver on what most people would want to use it for. If it could do 3x19x12 or 25x16, that would make it not a gimmick, though it would still be overpriced. TBH, Eyefinity without bezel management is kind of a gimmick too. The price is...

    ATI + LCD @ 120hz causes jittering/distortion problem

Uh, they're talking about games, not movies. 3D gaming is 60 frames per second per eye, i.e. 120Hz. In one second the monitor will display 60 frames for the left eye and 60 frames for the right eye, which is 120 frames in one second. The shutter glasses block one eye when a frame for the other...

Two monitors (dualscreen), U2410 or LP2475w

The only one I've been following. The Dell forum has a few threads with responses from Dell representatives. As far as I know the latest word from them is that they are discussing the issue with the panel manufacturer, and have stopped taking returns of units with the issue.

Two monitors (dualscreen), U2410 or LP2475w

Umm, pretty much every review in the last six months has said that about the dell. Both monitors use the same panel, and both monitors are subject to the issues that plague its manufacturer.

TN panels are as bad as everyone says they are and then some...

It's not actually in the same realm as plasma TVs. There was a Thinkpad that used a 1600x1200 IPS panel. Battery life probably wasn't the best, but it was a beautiful laptop.

    [Retired] The LCD Thread

Ghosting is not input lag. The other flaws include aggressive antiglare, white glow, lack of 16:9 scaling (with a 360 you can output 1680x1050 so that's only an issue with a PS3), and on top of that stuff the questionable QC. According to ToastyX, the 2209WA ghosts less than my primary...

    mini displayport question

The displayport output must be able to output a DVI/HDMI signal for that to work. The DP/mini-DP ports on the 5000 series cards can't (except for 2 on the Six). For eyefinity users that would be pointless anyway, as all gaming video cards are limited to 2 DVI/HDMI(/VGA) signals. For 3 monitors...

    Choosing a monitor - please help :(

You get a lot more than you would have 18 months ago. For $160 you can get a low-end or no-name 21-23" 1920x1080. At that price range you're looking at brands like Acer or Hanns, maybe Asus or BenQ if you're willing to stretch that by $20. That may not seem like much but in 2008 you'd be lucky...

Adding video input to the comp

A blackmagic intensity pro should be able to capture DVI/HDMI, or HD over component. You could hook that up to your base station if it doesn't use HDCP. If it does use HDCP and doesn't have a component output, you are out of luck.

    Looking For Graphics LCDs

The 245T is dead and gone for years now, the 244T even longer. It's possible you might find a used/refurb one, but probably not at any price you'd want to pay. LCD Recommendations

PVA is not a compromise, it's just a different. They were cheaper for a while, when the 2408WFP and LP2465 were up against...Apple, the 2490WUXi and a bunch of third-tier IPS screens. That was like two years ago. PVA has sort of dropped out of the market, and the only two current models that use...

    LCD Recommendations

You didn't mention 1920x as a must, so the dell 2209WA fits your requirements. Depending on what you mean by 'a bit of gaming', the nec EA231WMi could work too. Lastly, NEC is selling refurbished 20WMGX2s for $139, can't beat that price. I never liked the off-angle haze on that monitor though...
