Star Citizen: Chris Robert`s new space sim (the Wing Commander guy)

Can't you just buy one of the smaller more general purpose ships and outfit it for mining or salvage?

OMG massive performance increase....with a twist!

Did you notice where I said that his tranny is probably a lock up, or a manual?

OMG massive performance increase....with a twist!

So? Less throttle is less throttle, which in a non lock up tranny = less RPM.

OMG massive performance increase....with a twist!

beat me to it. OPs tranny probably is a lock up auto (or a manual), but nevertheless it is possible.

Mazda 3 clanging in rear of car

This thread is a turbofail, and a prime example of why you shouldn't ask for mechanical advice on the Internet, especially on a computer forum. If you have nothing to add but this then stay out of the thread... Thread crapping... AT Moderator Bartman39

I think I'm going to buy a Corvette

It's significant enough for the GT500 to avoid the GGT, and the fact that the GT500 gets better mileage in town despite being MUCH heavier and better highway despite having way worse aero can't all be attributed to gearing. The 12 GT500 beats the ZR1 also, and it has 3.73s.

Why would you get jumper cables instead of a jump starter?

ditto. Jumper cables are one of the many items that you should never ever buy the cheapest one you can find.

I think I'm going to buy a Corvette

And look how it makes less power and gets significantly worse gas mileage than Fords 5.8, despite being in a car that's far lighter and more aerodynamic. And I'll take the Boss 302 over the LS3 every single day and twice on Sundays.

    Thoughts on this foxbody

I'd love to have another fox coupe, but don't know if I'll ever have the room. I'm house shopping right now, if I manage to find a property that has a separate 2-4 car shop I'd almost certainly pick up another fox, but houses that have one are pretty few and far between and I doubt I'd shell out...

    Good roadtrip car?

Worst road trip car I've owned: 70 GTO with leaking rear main seal. Closely followed by 1987 Mustang 5.0 with no A/C, shot fifth gear synchros, broken gas gauge AND broken speedometer, with honorable mention given to: 1984 Jeep CJ-7 with broken A/C. Best, If you care about comfort and gas...

best buy cutting an additional 2,400 jobs, with about 600 of them being geek squad

Hahaha, qft. I'll still be pretty sad though, I can wander around a BB for an hour or two killing time while the lady is off at more boring stores. Maybe they should start selling groceries on the side?

Anyone upgrade to USB/Power outlets (U-Socket) in your home?

Dont really see the point. You still need the cord, and AC/USB adapters are cheaper, portable, and more useful.

You know what sucks? Having friends that are "poor"

I haven't been to the theater since the first Sherlock, because movie theaters blow ass. If someone asked me if I wanted to go I'd either just say no or invite them over to watch something on my HT.

House got broke-into - and boy, was he stupid!

Probably worth more than the satellite DVR. My neighbors house got broken into a few months ago, but it's because they're idiots and left their sliding door unlatched all the time. Guy stole a laptop and a purse, while the owners were sleeping. There was still snow on the ground so you...

Need serious em pee gees, WWYG?

The commute will be pretty much all highway, but I'm sure I'll do plenty of city driving in whatever I get the rest of the time. I'll probably add the 6 speed manual 1.6 ecoboost Fusion to my list though. Also adding the Altima. I don't think the Focus or Cruze will meet my space/comfort...

Need serious em pee gees, WWYG?

I've thought about this, but I don't think the numbers are quite as peachy as you'd think they would be. The "best" Accord currently for sale on Autotrader within 500 miles is a 1998 with 150k miles and an asking price of 4995. The difference between EPA highway MPG between it and a Prius will...

Need serious em pee gees, WWYG?

Yeah, I didn't realize the Altima was new for 2013. If the purchase price is low enough it could offset the decreased MPG vs the hybrids/diesels and be a good buy.

Need serious em pee gees, WWYG?

Should mention that I'll probably also at least take a look at an Audi A3 diesel, Lexus CT 200h, and some smaller gas cars (Focus, Veloster, etc), but I don't think I'll go for the former because they're more than I want to spend, and I don't think I'll be happy with the interior room on the...

Need serious em pee gees, WWYG?

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I'm not really considering the Jetta. It's been 5 or 6 years since I sat in a new Golf, but I fit fine in that model, it seems like the VWs have a pretty large range of seat adjustment which helps a lot.

Need serious em pee gees, WWYG?

Taking a new job soon and I'm most likely going to go from driving ~5,000 miles a year to around 35,000 miles a year, so the 20 MPG (highway) I get in my FJ Cruiser isn't really going to cut it. I've crunched some numbers and all the cars I'm currently considering would be fairly close to one...

    The 40-MPG Challenge

The power it takes to accelerate to speed x is the same as the power it takes to maintain speed x. Imagine a 100 horsepower car that's top speed (drag limited) is 120 mph. It takes all 100 horsepower to get to 120, and it takes all 100 horsepower to maintain 120. You don't get to 120 mph...

    The 40-MPG Challenge

Agreed. It's far more likely that the people that think they've experienced this had other less obvious factors in play. More or less traffic, more or less hills, more or less slipstreaming, different temp/humidity, different energy content of the gas, etc. The power required to overcome...

GT500 vs ZL1 - surprised no one posted this

That's like being the thinnest kid at fat camp though. A 4120 pound car with a heat soaking blower on it (and it seems like the ZL1 has far from the best heat exchanger on it) just isn't a very good choice for road course work. If I was serious about racing a track that involved turning the...

GT500 vs ZL1 - surprised no one posted this

Come on. The 662 horse Shelby would start at 40 grand if it didn't have Shelby's name on it? Where's that put the Boss LS? 36? Then the regular Boss? 31? Then I guess the GT has to start at around 22. I'd be really surprised if the Shelby deal worked out to more than 500 bucks per car...

GT500 vs ZL1 - surprised no one posted this

Not sure why that should be a surprise, you can shave a full second off a 2012 GT500s time just by switching to slicks and skinnies. The fact is that not a single magazine or owner, to date, has been able to dip into the 11s stock, or equal GMs reported times. I believe the two tuners that...

GT500 vs ZL1 - surprised no one posted this

Ford also hasn't published 1/4 or 0-60 times. Do you think that means the ZL1 beats it there? Ford doesn't usually publish times. Personally I think GMs chest thumping and smack talking is pathetic. ALL the magazines turn in dismal 1/4 times for the ZL1, so they go out and rent a track...

GT500 vs ZL1 - surprised no one posted this

If you look at typical dynos its actually more like a 100 horsepower difference. Which results in trap speeds in the 1/4 that aren't even in the same ballpark. 116 mph vs. 124+ mph is leagues apart.

They're less than 60k right now. There are plenty of people getting them for MSRP, which means as cheap as 55k.

    Oh man, am I screwed?

As part of the sales process most places will have you sign a document that says the car is As Is Where Is, making legal action difficult and likely to be unsuccessful. I'd go to the dealer and see what they say. If they made enough profit off you they may be likely to spend some of that profit...

    Did I screw the lawnmower?

Yep, more or less. The sudden stop probably either destroyed the piston or the rod. I'd guess it is unlikely that you'd be able to get it fixed for 65 bucks, but I don't know for sure.
