    Strange behavior in IE/SQL/PHP

I am having an issue recently with IE (v7.0.5730.11) displaying more than 500 records from an SQL query. The browser seems to constantly execute - displaying and rehiding records (and the vertical scrollbar grows and shrinks). I have let the page go for about 5 minutes and it will continue...

    Lost keyboard/mouse in XP repair

I'm working on a machine that needed to have WindowsXP repaired. On the repair, it comes to a point asking for a proprietary driver for the soundcard. At this screen, I notice that neither the keyboard or mouse are functioning. Prior to this, both are working fine (setup screen, dos, bios). I...

    The below code works perfectly in a browser: $server="xxxxxx"; $username="xxxxxx"; $password="xxxxxx"; $sqlconnect=mssql_connect($server, $username, $password); $sqldb=mssql_select_db("msdatatest",$sqlconnect); $date = mssql_fetch_array(mssql_query("SELECT CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), GETDATE()...

    GAS PRICES REALLY SUX

Yes, the price of gasoline "sux". It has "sucked" for years prior and will continue to for years to come. Nothing is being done about it - it's not even on the news anymore. When $3/gal came about for the first time, it was ALL over the news. Now? Not even a peep. I think the discussion...

Offline Files in XP - can i move the drive they are stored on

I'm understanding that you have photos being synchronized between 2 different systems - what is the purpose of doing this? You are looking to add a new drive to your main PC due to lack of drive space - ok. Easy enough to add a second HDD to your system. Now are you looking to move the...

An internal application error has occurred for Windows Media Player

Hmmm. Did both files re-register just fine or did you get any error messages? Here's the MS Article on it. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=831430

An internal application error has occurred for Windows Media Player

I ran into this problem on one of our machines a few months back. There is a problem with the Javascript registration on your machine. To fix it, re-register jscript.dll and vbscript.dll files using regsvr32. Those files are located in the system32 folder.

    Networking a group of laptops?

If the users have already logged into the domain through those laptops, the user account should be cached and allow them to login without being attached to the domain. If not, you can setup local accounts on the laptops for the users.

Best way to block all web sites and allow a handful

Here are a few options you have. One, you can prevent or completely remove DNS forwarding and create HOST files for the specific traffic you do need to have outside of your network. Two, you can setup your 2003 AD server as your gateway and forward all traffic through it before it goes out...

    Access is denied ?????????????????????

There will be 'Security' Tab when you view the Properties window for that folder - unless you are running WindowsXP with Simple File Sharing turned on. To turn SFS off, goto Tools - Folder Options - View. Scroll to the bottom of the list and turn off SFS. This will allow you to see the...

    Access is denied ?????????????????????

It sounds like you do not have write access to the computer you are trying to copy that folder to. You say that Full Control is on for the Everyone group - do you mean for that folder or for that computer? If the computer is having difficulty accessing the folder in the network share, then...

    dual boot problem

From the short description, it sounds like you pulled the other harddrive prior to installing either OS. Therefore, neither OS has any idea the other one exists - therefore, no menu. You could edit the XP boot.ini file and point to the Vista installation as another option, but the later...

    windows will not shutdown

Ah, so it's probably some piece of software that was installed recently - would be my guess. Try booting into safemode and shutting down. If it works fine, there is something running in normal mode that is preventing the system from shutting down completely. Run through those 2 sites and...

    windows will not shutdown

Does this also happen when you are in safemode? You can also check your mainboard's BIOS for the ACPI/M type and that it is enabled. Some people have reported that enabling ACPI/M in the BIOS after the installation of Win2K does not work and may require a repair installation of Win2K...

    Intel Dual Core Patch

Is your processor a true dual-core Intel or just an Intel using HT? Is your OS using 32 or 64 bit windows? That switch you are referring to - I've seen it solve other issues - I wouldn't necessarily call it a "dual-core patch". Seems more related to 64bit windows and HyperThreading.

how is it that pc400 (ddr500) ram works in pc3200 mobos?

It is more probable that the ram will not work in your system at all. I am not 100% sure on underclocking ram, but someone else in here may be able to explain how over/under clocking ram works. Everything I have read recently points to looking at better timings over higher speed. ie ...

    Complications with SATA and IDE?

Sounds like the boot order on your mainboard may be changing. I have setup a number of configurations like that, and run that config myself. Has anything strange happened prior to rebooting when this happens (changed hardware, full power-down, etc). I had one system that would reset...

    Print Head Alignment

It is a software setting that aligns the print heads on your printer (which is hardware). The software you installed for your printer should do it for you. I'm guessing you have an Epson printer? It was fairly common for Epson software to request that. If you installed the full software...

    Ram Dilemma

Do you know your timings on your 3 sticks of ram? If you combine sticks, they will revert to the slowest speed of ram. As long as the ram you have is using similar timings, you should be ok using the XMS with the HyperX. You're board only has 3 slots? What is the board - and will it accept...

    Cannot install XP

What happens when you pull the CD out of the tray before booting? Did you change the BIOS settings to boot to the 250GB PATA drive, instead of the SATA drive? Since you pulled the SATA drive before installing XP on the 250GB drive, how is he going to switch from one OS to the other? You...
