    Windows 7 antivirus

NOD32 works great on Windows 7. I'm running Windows 7, and NOD32 right now while typing this.. Coming from Symantec to NOD32 in an environment of 2,000 machines really was night, and day.. Norton 2009 however is a terrific step in the right direction for a desktop product from Symantec. Avria...

    Windows 7 XP Mode

Yeah, they catch ya into upgrading that way.. I really enjoying running Windows 2000 Pro as my OS choice at home.. I trained for 2000 Pro, and Server for my MCSE, and then XP but still chose 2000 Pro for a while afterwards. Wait until they stop making new drivers or have none for your OS.. I'm...

    Avira detecting cerberusinstall.exe as virus

Do you have some sort of potential unsafe applications option selected in avira? I've had avira get a lot of false positives on print drivers on a network share, and other in house applications.

    How would you handle this

Every time a guy I work with takes his thumb drive to a local university it gets infected, and he takes his machine back home and nod32 detects the Injector trojan. Should I send him, and notify him? I hate to get someone in trouble but I think it may be best to let them know their Symantec is...

Considering Giving Norton a Try - Trend Micro User Now

I have went with ESET NOD32, and have not been let down.. The back end of the product is superb as is the client. Today we started the implementation on our Linux File Servers, and it has been fairly simple to setup. We had a mixup on our license, but it was corrected within an hour between...

We are going from a two proxy solution right now, and looking to different technologies.. We have right now a Netware Border manager, and squid proxy. I am looking into Websense, 8E6, and now Checkpoint.. Have any of you heard anything from 8E6 or Checkpoint? I used websense in the past, and...

Radeon HD 3870 CoD4 AA performance

2x or even 4x at 1680x1050 really makes my card crawl.. As soon as I disable AA even with 16x AF and high textures I'll hit 60-90 fps and its very playable with minimial lag.. Anti Aiasing enabled however just kills the card.. This normal you guys think? I bet a 4870 would and CPU upgrade would...

    How does mywebsearch get installed?

We had Symantec let through AV360 variants.. First thing I did was check the computers local admin account, and it did not have the user there.. The way it gets on there is through the web browser.. Before the current System Admin staff here the old regime had disabled Windows Updates completly...

    How does mywebsearch get installed?

Anymore it does not take local admin rights to install half the junk you run into online.. AV2009/360/ variants do not need local admin to hop on a machine. lol @ not installing security updates for the OS and browsers.. That's like building a house without windows or doors.

Let's reminisce about the olden days.

My next door neighbor had a computer repair shop in his backyard. I'd sit out there listening to him playing games because he had bad ass speakers. You could explosions going off, and etc. Finally I got myself invited over there, and we played Duke Nukem 3D, Krush Kill N Destroy, Warcraft 1, and...

Avira Personal (free), Norton Antivirus 2009, or NOD32 v3?

V4 is ok.. Not really any ground breaking features added. I like the ability to see when Windows Updates are needed on clients. They integrated Sysinspector snapshots which are nice also, and rescue media. I was looking for other things from Version 4. 1. Lower memory footprint 2. Less CPU...

    Norton Internet Security 2009

I've tried NIS, NAV Gamers, and non Gamers.. Most impressed I've been with an Anti virus product since my initial discovery of NOD32 when I was fed up with Norton/Symantec. Once the word gets out, and the negative impressions of past experiences are lifted it should catch on. Yes, I agree I...

    Norton 2009

Pulse updating in a corporate environment would be interesting to see. I have 2100 users on NOD32 right now.. I'm interested in seeing how things go down. If ESET keeps going the direction that Norton went I'll hop off the ship. I haven't seen a turn around like this since Pentium D to Core 2 duo..

I have been using gamers edition for 2-3 weeks..I have been impressed with the memory footprint, and how non intrusive it is.. I like the idea of pulse updating... I was critical of Norton/symantec but they have turned it around. I notice only two processes using about 5-6 MB each.. My NOD32...

How long to leave modem unplugged to get a new IP address?

release it until someone else gets it from their DHCP... Do not think there is some kind of time grace period unless exclusion/reservation is made via MAC address to a Cable Modem/DSL Modem/ or NIC.. I'd just release it, unplug it, and then go to work come home and see what you got.
