Upgrading from Intel i5 750 for gaming

Unfortunately, her system hasn't been upgraded since 2003, so her mobo and stuff are all dying, as well as completely incompatible with a newer PCI-E card. I pulled the trigger on the whole shebang (mobo/CPU/ram/SSD/new PSU), and I'll hand over the guts to this current system to her. It may...

Upgrading from Intel i5 750 for gaming

Hi Everyone, I'm currently running an Intel i5 750 @ stock speeds. I've got 4GB Ram, and a 1 GB Radeon 4870, which I will be replacing with a 3GB Radeon HD 7970. I'm thinking I might just retire this current system and hand it over to my girlfriend mostly intact, but am I going to see a...

USPS destroyed my computer! (With Pics)

Call them during customer service hours and explain what has occurred, you will most certainly be able to resolve things this way. You cannot open a new claim because the seller took much too long. If you hurry, you can catch the customer service center before they close at 10:00PM PST.

USPS destroyed my computer! (With Pics)

You should have canceled the non-receipt claim the minute you received the packages as the seller has stated, why you have not done this is extremely confusing to me, the seller is 100% right in this regard. He should have responded to your emails, etc, but when you got the stuff you should...

NEED HELP! Is my PSU bad?

Thank you so much for posting this, these problems are exactly what I have been experiencing with my Corsair PSU, though my build initially worked fine...the problems didn't show up until 3 months in. Honestly this is the first time I have ever bought a "nice" psu, but now I am experiencing...

    Powerdown Problems

Well I actually RTFM and realized there are instructions for hooking this type of power supply up to my motherboard. I followed the instructions and voila, the system kinda booted, all the fans were running and stuff but it was making a terrible beeping noise (I think it is from the video card...

    Powerdown Problems

Can anyone help with this PSU question - if I try to plug a 20 pin PSU into my 24 pin Mobo, I align it all the way to the right, correct? And what should I do with the 8 pin slot, on the old PSU it only has an 4 pin auxilary power plug.

    Powerdown Problems

Hm, I ran an old system with the 20 to 24 config, but I'm not sure about this one. I'd really like to avoid RMA'ing the PSU because that means another $40 shipping and handling down the drain if it's not the problem...but I'm just not sure about this extra connector. It fits right next to the...

HELP!!! Computer not booting. No video. Tried everything. Video card fan spinning on highest speed non-stop!

I've never heard of that MOBO you bought, doesn't seem like it should be a big deal as long as it works. I'm going to try my roommate's powersupply tonight, it's an old 20-pin job but it might be able to let me know if it is my PSU that is the culprit.

Do you think you could elaborate? What am I supposed to do with the 8 pin slot on the other side of the motherboard, what components does this power? Right now the computer will not even boot at all, I push the power button, the LED lights for around a half second, the fan starts to spin...

What do you mean by doubleboot? I have an IP35P now and it does this thing where it boots, then shuts down after like 3 seconds, then boots again. Is that what you mean? My old Abit mobo did it too.

    Powerdown Problems

Hi everybody, Long story short here: Computer powers down randomly - not a heat issue, no funny noise from PSU, motherboard is working fine. Long Story Here: I built my computer around March, everything worked rock solid for around 3-4 months, no problems, no stability issues until the...

    Mysterious computer problem, any ideas?

I am having almost the EXACT same problem, (in fact as I was typing this on my computer it powered down. Now I'm on my laptop). It all started with my motherboard NIC dying, so I rma'ed the motherboard. ABIT said it was beyond repair and sent me a replacement. I boot up with the replacement...

Choice between Abit IP35-P and IP35V

Hi everyone, I recently had to Manufacturer RMA my dead ABIT IP35-E, and apparently they no longer have these in stock and mine was busted beyond repair. They have offered me a choice between the IP35-P and the IP35V. I have done some research but I can't really figure out which is a better...

    Random Powerdowns

It's not a temp problem, I just watched the BIOS temp monitor - CPU temps were around 50°C when it shutoff. I am using Abit's eRMA on my Mobo, as I have no other system in which to test the CPU and RAM. So hopefully that will work...gah. The weird thing is, I don't think it was a power...

$500 Gaming PC at Tom's Hardware

No one's forcing you to reply! @Soccerballtux - I can't get it up over what it's at now without increasing the voltage too much, and I'm also running the stock HSF. When I get the cash I'll try it out with a new HSF...but I don't think my CPU is gonna go much farther. Some OC better than...

Putting together new PC. How does it look?

There's absolutely no reason to get a Video Card with a lifetime warranty if you must pay a premium to do so. Most video cards come with 3 year warranties, which is about the maximum amount of time one would want to wait before a video card can be rendered obsolete by new games. As the OP said...

new ultra high end rig help

I think people have an adverse reaction to the "money is no object" attitude, no matter what the skill level of the computer builder is. As I said earlier - there is pretty much no reason for you to spend over $2000 on a system right now, the performance gains you are going to see from the...
