Just search for Yamakasi different models vary in price. 2703 is $300

I just got a Yamakasi Catleap 2703 for $295 free xpress shipping (got it in 3 days)
This one has the glass in front....Dual DVI only out.
It's glossy but I didn't notice it in games...running at 60HZ.
So far my Radeon 6870 handles Mass Effect 3 with no slowdown at 1440.
Haven't found...

They are both great. You can probably spend more time on Fallout 3 since the world is
huge especially with the 4 DLC's.
Fallout 3 has better graphics but Dragon Age has more style/better voice acting.
DA is definitely a better updated Baldur's Gate so if you liked that you will like DA.
Single Card - Single GPU. Crossfire/SLI shouldn't be necessary if they are building decent
video cards. For awhile the games were better than the single cards (Crysis) but now
the cards have gotten better.
I dunno..it seems dumb to have to buy two video cards and a motherboard that takes up...
My Olevia 27 inch is supposed to be 1366x768 but it's BS because it looks right at
1280x720. (Windows XP Desktop)
TV's will scale 1080i and 720p and it will look fine.
I tried Songbird about a month ago.
Seemed like a great concept.
Tried to get it to basically do what Itunes does for me.
I like Itunes sound on my stereo..the album art and buying tunes.
Songbird is not there yet for me.
I don't care about FLAC because I rip to AIFF (which is...
XP is the better product since it works with most every piece of hardware or software.
I bought Vista a year ago and everything would work but my creative sound was crap.
Upgraded to an ASUS Zonar PCI Xpress soundcard and a new motherboard.
Hooray my sound is good...oh wait a...
I've got the same setup. I just use a crappy miniplug cable on the
audigy ZS and plug it into digital coax input on the receiver.
My receiver doesn't care..it's digital so it works or doesn't.
The Breakout box is BS..don't need it. Audigy ZS has coax digital already.
Anyway miniplug...
Download the new Realplayer Beta..it downloads most .flv flash files
and works with Internet explorer.
From there you can convert it with SUPER to any format.
This is all free software..works great to convert Youtube etc.
SUPER has a great MP4/AAC converter for converting flash video...
I'd really like to know WHY you prefer Vista over XP for your HTPC.
What sort of hardware do you have that works BETTER with Vista?
I'm happy enough with the Vista MCE software..it's just what results I get from
my speakers and video I deplore.
The point is that people using current...
I agree..it's not bugs but hardware/software incompatability.
My big problem with Vista right now is getting my Home theatre PC to work well.
Vista totally craps out my Audigy ZS to basic sound and partially cripples my
dual tuner and my 1900XT.
I dual boot and XP is perfect..Vista is...
I dual boot but spend most time in XP.
Haven't been able to get Vista MMC to look/run good.
It ghosts/drops frames and can't adjust some settings with ATI card yet.
Games - XP has EAX. My Audigy don't work yet with Vista..basic stereo.
I dunno..even pictures look crappier in Vista...
My score is 4.1 due to the CPU.
My graphics rate much better around 5.5
Seriously..video decode performance for me is bad.
I get serious ghosting/dropped frames with HDTV live that I do not get in XP.
I'd guess this is because Vista uses software rather than hardware for the audio
and...
The first thing we need to know is wether you have an upgrade or full version of Vista... if its the upgrade you have no choice but to begin the install from within XP while with the full version you can start either way, however I suggest that if you want to dual-boot you still start the...
Hmm. The question is who owns your computer..you or MS?
I also get "access denied" issues on folders/files for no reason.
I would like to be able to bypass this easily for some time period by some easy method.
Instead of having to turn every annoying thing off permanently I just need a...
I'm sort of in the same boat..I'm running an Opteron 148 (939) with a 1900XT graphics.
PCIE, 1MB DDR
The computer is used for HDTV and cable tuner, games etc.
With the 2.2GHZ single core Opteron it's fine except :
HDTV freezes when some backround app checks for updates etc. (Cable...
It has two options for sound..downmix to stereo and passthru to optical out.
Actually three..you can do dolby surround.
It requires a sound card.
Because it's software the dolby surround decode option causes stutter
on my Opteron 148 which is doing MPEG4 decode as well.
Well..it's minor...
That's true but forget it for <$1500 and forget huge TV's .
Most TV's are 720p native at best and scale 1080i.
Looks great but it's not a monitor really.
With $1500 you have to ask what you want...
Better/bigger TV or medium size monitor and buy a new video card.
Life is about compromise...
27 wide Syntax Olevia at Newegg etc.
$600 new $500 recertified.
(I bought a recertified and it has one dead pixel which you can't see from 3 feet away)
The Olevia ones are cheap and have DVI-VGA- many inputs.
Mine works great with HDTV Wonder and 9600XT.
The Olevia 37in is $1100 shipped at New Egg.
Has all the inputs DVI/VGA etc.
Pretty good for a cheaper HDTV.
You can find it even a bit cheaper on Pricewatch
Can even use a cheaper/older video card with it as resolution is around 1280x720.
Seriously though..it's not a computer...
For surround sound I've got a Logitech Z-something 5.1
(35wattx5 Subwoofer is 100watt)
I replaced the sattelites with Sony 3-ways in front and
Polk M-10's in the rear. The logitech drives them well
enough for home theatre or games on PC.
Sound card is Audigy ZS analog out.
(Need the...
AVSFORUM has HDPC advice.
I'm partial to LCD TV's for their resolution.
I like my Syntax Olevia 27in widescreen as it has DVI and VGA inputs.
(Also I got it for $500 recertified at NEWEGG.)
I use an ATI HDTV Wonder Remote edition for Over the Air HDTV.
(I got it for $87 shipped *used)
I dunno. I switch by using XP Display properties and do not use
Castalyst Crapout Center for switching because for some reason
CCC hates me (Though I do need it for my HDTV tuner so it's there)
Do both monitors show up in Display Settings?
Boot with both monitors on and go to Display...
I really like my ATI HDTV Wonder PCI card.
I got it for $85 used total shipped.
Comes with remote control and ok antenna for HDTV over the air.
It does Tivo-Like TV on demand and you can record HD and analog.
It has a multimedia center software similar to XP mediacenter.
It works...
I have the ATI HDTV Wonder which is great if you want
Over the Air HDTV plus regular TV as well.
Works nice and comes with remote and indoor antenna for cheap money.
Has it's own media center and AVIVO works with it.
I would guess you can't get interlaced video from the vga port.
As an alternative some of the cheap old Hauppage TV cards have composite out and
tv tuners built in (also you get coax out if you have cable tv)
I still think they are hosing people on the price, both hollywood and Music industry and
would lower piracy with lower prices.
I could agree to a scheme for computers similar to games or XP where you need to
validate it online to play it.
This hardware scheme is ridiculous. They will...
I agree that is probably why there is no huge outcry on it yet. If you buy HD and
watch digital cable it's not HDCP AFAIK so that is an alternate way to get it.
(Doesn't that make it somewhat insecure as far as DRM?)
I'd argue that is why no HD DVD's are available..it's a huge pain to...
I dunno..seems like alot of hoops to jump through for dubious benefits for
anti-piracy. Does this thing read serial numbers too? Kiss it goodbye if so.
I hate the whole idea and think it drags technology down.
What is so great about 1080i ? It's so ten years ago!!
These guys could sell...
Actually I would commend Rollo for the times he's provoked debate on real issues.
I found the image quality debate useful - what mix of IQ/FPS/Shader version/AA/AF
is better? I suppose I'd like to have everything but not everyone has $500 plus for
a vid card. (Actually I prefer IQ over...
I change my hardware alot and depending on drivers, other software you load and the order it loads in CCC can load nice or be a totally unmanageable piece of crap that
crashes your system.
I avoid it totally now in favor of ATI Tray Tools.
If you are lucky and somehow CCC works great...
I'd say it's not as big a deal in a forum because you have so many informed
people who will pounce on a blatant shill.
Go buy PC Magazine for pure shilling..
Most magazines promote overpriced crap because that is what they get for free to test
and use. Not to mention Ad revenue.
Compare...
You can buy an Emachines, Compaq , HP , etc
for around the same price as a Dell.
Some even have Sempron processor and AGP or
even Radeon XPRESS video which is better than
the usual onboard video.
(Although Intel is buying these guys off and
making them phase out the AMD CPU's)
You...
