Windows 7 x64 BSOD when playing StarCraft II

So I ran both Furmark and MSI Kumbustor, and both of them didn't seem to trigger a crash. Today I tried clearing the StarCraft II caches folder, and I haven't received a crash yet after playing for a couple of hours on and off. Probably some corrupt data, though I'm not sure why it started...

Windows 7 x64 BSOD when playing StarCraft II

Okay, I will try MSI Kumbustor. When my computer did crash, I was monitoring the GPU temperatures and it was nothing out of the ordinary, so I don't think it's a temperature problem. I've already tried reinstalling SC2 and it still crashed.

Windows 7 x64 BSOD when playing StarCraft II

I've started having blue screen problems on my desktop (specs can be seen in my signature, except I've removed the 3650 card) which happens when I play StarCraft II. This problem started occuring a few days ago when I turned on my computer for the first time in 4 months. It doesn't seem to...

How hot is your ati 4870?

My 4870 idles at 70 C (the default I guess, since I never changed it) at around 27% and 23% fan speed. It gets quite annoying when it switches between those two fan speeds randomly as it goes over/under the 70 C mark.

    Sudden Memory and Booting Problems

I ended up updating the BIOS (With ASUS EZ Flash 2), and I tried adding in the RAM one at a time (4GB, 6GB, then 8GB), and it seems to work without giving errors. However, the Marvell hard disk error still shows up. I don't think there are any issues with the BIOS hard disk settings, since I...

    Sudden Memory and Booting Problems

For reference, I'm using a self-built ASUS P5Q Pro with a Q9550, and 8GB of RAM (x4 2GB OCZ DDR2 800 RAM). I'm running 64 bit Vista Ultimate. Today I decided to turn off my computer (I generally don't turn it off very often, perhaps once or twice a month), and the problem occurs when I start...

BestBuy Canada: HP OfficeJet L7780 for $200 (about $300 cheaper)

http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/...91076&logon=&langid=EN Not sure if many of you guys can get it unless you happen to live near a BestBuy location that still has it in stock. The London, ON location has stock, so get it quick before it's gone.

    Needing new printer

I don't think they're selling it anymore, as it was the last one. Nonetheless, I'll post it to see if people can find one locally. :)

    Needing new printer

I ended up getting a L7780 for an insane price ($200 CDN) at BestBuy (they were in clearance, I have no clue why because other stores were selling them for $500). Just got it up and running through Wifi, and I'm pleased. :)

    Needing new printer

Well, I doubt I'll require such a high-end printer like that, other than the fact that it's twice the price of the comparison. How much of a price difference is toner compared to ink given how much yield each of them gives? I'm not sure I use a printer enough to be able to make up the...

    Needing new printer

Ah, thanks for clearing up the differences. I guess I'll be going with the HP OfficeJet L7590, unless there is another printer in the similar price range with similar features (duplexing is a must!)

Building and Ordering PC parts soon [finished!]

About two months in with the computer, and it's very nice. Triple monitor configuration is very convenient, and the ATI drivers make it fairly easy to position the screens to my liking. I could never get a 3450 with dual DVI, so I just went ahead and got an ASUS EAH 3650 SILENT MAGIC. A bit...

    Needing new printer

After a bit of thinking, I found a few other models, and I'm rethinking of getting a laser printer. Other than quality, what is so good about a colour laser printer? I compared this printer with an Ink printer, and by spec, it seems to be getting crushed by the HP OfficeJet L7590. Stuff like...

    Needing new printer

Seeing as my old printer doesn't have any Vista x64 drivers that will work (Xerox Workstation XD102), it has kind of become a sole photocopier. I'm looking for possible options for a multi-function colour laser printer. I don't really want to spend a fortune, but I'd like to see options from...

    Questions about Static Electricity

Isn't this only the case when the component is connect to the case? If you equalize potential electric energy between you and the case, then you may still have potential between you and other components outside of the case that aren't grounded to it.

    Questions about Static Electricity

Wow, that is a lot of very nice information! I don't have access to any grounding mats, but I actually found an outlet with a grounding pin in my house, which I'm currently using (via a very large cable extender). I found an old power cable that wasn't in use, took out the power prongs...

Building and Ordering PC parts soon [finished!]

Ended up getting the 4870, found many remarks that the 9800GX2 probably wouldn't be well suited for what I'm doing. I originally was going to go with the 4850, and I don't game enough to warrant a dual GPU video card. Don't like the heat output, nor the audio implementation that much. :P Oh well.

    Questions about Static Electricity

I'm getting ready to start building my new computer on Monday, and I'd like to know a bit about some concerns about static electricity and preventing static buildup. Other than using wrist straps and placing the electric components on cardboard or anti-static foam, how else could I prevent...

    Secondary Video Card Woes

After going to Canada Computers and PC Village, I found out that both of them were kind of advertising a card that didn't exist. I wanted to buy the 512MB version of the 3450 with the Dual DVI outputs, but I went to both stores and both of them appeared to be right except they had one VGA and...

P45 or X48 - Which is the best & newest?

It really depends what components you're using, whether you're planning on overclocking, etc. The P45 may be newer, but it is marketed for the mainstream user. The main difference between the boards is that the X48 will support full speed CrossFire at x16/x16 speeds, while the P45 will run at...

Thank you for your feedback on this rig components

If you want it to be "future proof" for 4 years, you may want to consider spending more money on a quad core CPU, as video editing (especially in the future) will favour multi-core CPUs more. The downside is that quad cores are quite expensive (unless you go with AMD). Also with that setup...

What are my chip options for a MSI K8N Neo4 board

You're limited to the old Socket 939 CPUs, so really, not much. You can get the second gen AMD Athlon 64s, but you need to make sure they aren't the AM2 nor Socket 754 versions. I don't even think they sell them anymore, but you can try checking around. These CPUs at today's standards can't...

I've been checking NCIX and Canada Computers, and most of NCIX's prices are a lot higher than Direct Canada's. Canada Computers also has the HX620 on sale with a $30 rebate, and since I live in Toronto, I can get parts at one of the local stores. On the video card issue, the 3450 has two...

Building and Ordering PC parts soon [finished!]

I have previously gotten the okay that the 520W modular Corsair would work fine with my rig. But then again, if I get rid of the sound card and the floppy drive, I can fit an extra $50 for the HX620, which sounds about right, since apparently a sound card and floppy drive aren't necessary. I'd...

    Necessary Wattage

Hm, that's nice to know. I used the Corsair PSU Finder, but it would only allow me to select one video card, or two of the same model, which isn't, in my case accurate since I'm running a 4870 and a 3650. Using the PSU Finder with just a 4870 (plus 2 harddrives and the Core 2 Quad), it...

    Necessary Wattage

Hm, so I used the power supply calculator (at http://web.aanet.com.au/SnooP/psucalc.php), and since it didn't support multiple GPUs of different models, I selected 4870's in CrossFire just to test, and got a 518W and 36.6A reccomendation for a "decent" brand. I don't know if this is accurate...

    Necessary Wattage

I'm not really that concerned, I just want to buy the most conventional PSU that has enough wattage for my parts. I don't want to buy any more than I have to, since it's unlikely I'll add or change any parts to this build. If the HX520 will be able to handle it without any problems, then I'm...

    Necessary Wattage

I've already selected all of the base components of my build, and have been planning to use the Corsair TX650, which seems to be a very good power supply at a good price. However, I'm wondering if that wattage is necessary? Here is the part rundown: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 (waiting for the...
