    Heatsink Compatability

Thanks. I'm trying to do this as cheaply as possible, so reusing a good heat sink would definitely be a plus.

Antec Three Hundred VS COOLER MASTER ELITE 335

I have an Antec 300 and I couldn't be more satisfied. It keeps the innards nice and cool. I don't know anything about the Cooler Master though.

    Heatsink Compatability

I'm still running a socket 939 system and I'm looking to jump to a new AM3 setup soon. Right now I have an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 which uses the standard 939 mounting bracket. I'd like to know if it would be compatible with the "new" brackets. Just from looking at pictures it looks...

    Best CPU Stressor Out There

I don't have enough memory for 10000x10000 but 5000x5000 only brings me from 38c to 45c on an air cooled 2.7ghz x2 3800, so something's definitely wrong with your setup.

    Fans for Antec 300

I do like the tri-cools that came with the case, but all I don't really want any led fans and that seems to be all the egg offers. Anyway thanks for all the help guys. When I get my hands on some spending money I'll probably pick up one or two noctua's and maybe a fan controller.

    Fans for Antec 300

I'll readily admit I messed up buying the "H" model scythe's. I was trying to get the "M" but at the time Newegg was sold out. As I hadn't had much experience with fans, I didn't think the extra noise would be too noticeable. I was apparently very wrong. Not long after that I got the "M" to...

    Fans for Antec 300

2 of these in the front and 1 of these on the side. I managed to find an adapter to make them run quieter but now they're hardly moving any air at all.

    Fans for Antec 300

I just got an Antec 300 case, and I love it. The scythe fans I put in it however whine loudly when put behind any grill or filter. I see that the Noctua NF-P12 is supposed to be good for that situation but they're also pretty expensive. Are there any cheaper alternatives that would offer...

    Motherboard for new build

Well, I have a 17" lcd so I don't really go above 1280x1024. Besides I just picked the 3850 up for $80 on eBay.

    Motherboard for new build

I should be putting together a new rig soon and I've pretty much got everything picked out. The one component I'm not certain about is the motherboard. I found a pk5 pro at newegg for $105. Is there anything better at or around that price? I like this board, because I've seen some fairly...

    Problem with Forge Alliance

I just tried to play Forged Alliance for the first time in a while and I was greeted by a very disturbing issue. With AA turned off everything looks fine, but as soon as I turn it on it looks like this. http://img48.imageshack.us/my....=supcomaaglitchcp6.jpg This is the only game I've...

    Early 45nm Deneb Spotted

I'd love to see more tests on this. I'm pretty interested in how much heat it puts out.

    Early 45nm Deneb Spotted

I was pretty excited about it too, until I saw they had to overclock it to get there. The way intel's going AMD would almost have to release it at 3.4ghz to be competitive (at the high end at least).

    Early 45nm Deneb Spotted

TechConnect has spotted a 45nm Deneb on a Chinese website. Overclocked to 3.4ghz too.

    AMD X2 5600+ Heatsink Replacement

The Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro provides excellent cooling, and will give you some overclocking headroom should you decide later to go that route. It's also quiet and cheap (about $27 at newegg).

    Chipset fan replacement

I'd love to go with a large passive heatsink, but my HD 3850 sits right on top of the fan. The evercool seems to an easy replacement, and from what I've seen it's a bit better than the stock cooler too.

    Chipset fan replacement

I did a little more research on it and it looks like exactly what I need. The price is a lot better than what I was prepared to pay for an HR-05 sli. I had a little scare yesterday when I saw the chipset temperature over 65 C and noticed the fan wasn't even spinning.

    Chipset fan replacement

That looks perfect. I just wish they had one without the leds.

    Chipset fan replacement

I have an old DFI Nforce4 Ultra-d motherboard, and I believe that the chipset fan is dying. It's starting to make a grinding noise and sometimes it doesn't spin up at all. I can't exactly afford a new motherboard right now, so I'm looking at replacement coolers. Would something like this...

Who's got an old AMD X2/AMD 64 rig as their main computer?

Still running an X2 3800 at 2.5ghz with 2GB ddr500 (yes, it's socket 939), and just picked up a 3850 for $80 on ebay. I'd love to go to a quad core intel setup, but I don't really feel constrained with what I have.

    256mb 3850

    256mb 3850

I just picked up an HD3850 on ebay with 256mb of memory. Afterwards, I noticed that most models come with 512mb. I don't have a huge monitor; it's an old 17" Dell LCD. I usually play games at 1280x1024. Will it having half the memory impact performance too much at that resolution?

    Good Enough?

Thank you for your help. I guess I could try it and just very closely monitor the temperatures. I'd like to get a new video card too; something a little more efficient like a 3850 or 9600gso, but that's for another day.

    Good Enough?

BTW, what would be a good cheap micro atx case? Does anyone have experience with this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16811119149

    Good Enough?

I don't really game that much anyway; just an hour or so of counter strike or SupCom every once in a while. Since the x1800xt vents outside the case, how much would it affect internal temperatures?
  34. O

    Good Enough?

My x2 3800 (skt 939) and x1800xt are starting to show their age so I was looking at building a new computer. I have a V2 Premier from ShopNBC sitting around and I just found out that the motherboard fully supports Intel's newest processors. What I'd like to do is buy a q6600 and 4GB of memory...

New Idea for Integrated Graphics Memory?

I have no idea whether or not this is remotely feasible or even possible. I thought about this while looking at pictures of Gigabyte's new 790GX board here. Could an ambitious designer, instead of integrating memory directly on the motherboard, add something like a so-dimm slot to allow the...

Computer Restarts When Connected to Ethernet

My aunt came to me with an older emachines computer saying it would restart itself after plugging in an ethernet cable. After I booted up the computer (and got over the smell of cigarette smoke emanating from the thing) I confimed this. It restarts shortly after receiving an ip from the home...

    Problem with router

I have a dlink wbr-2310, and it's so far been nothing but trouble. Everything technically works, except for a few frustrating issues. First my computer loses the connection several times a day. This doesn't seem like it should happen since, the router is only twenty feet away with no walls...
