I kind of need someone to help me out with a problem and it would just be easier to talk that way. tysm in advance
Yeah I know that is an unfortunate reality, but PSUs seem to have a higher lifespan especially at that amount of wattage.
Thanks for the insight though.
Two HD4870X2s, DFI Lan Party X48, a Q6600, 2x2GB RAM, 2 640GB HDDs, and a PCI sound card?
Also, would it be future proof (I know no one is completely sure, but you may have an idea) for an extreme processor (Nehalem Bloomsfield) and DDR3 RAM?
I may have had a bad experience but...
Dell has had the worst technical support/customer support ever. We had paid for a 4 year warranty with on-site support. They basically, instead of sending out a technician, told me to rebuild my computer in order to "fix" a problem with the noise. Ends up...
The absolute best parts currently available:
Dual LGA 771 Skulltrail motherboard or 790i
DDR3-2000 RAM (not sure if Skulltrail mobo supports up to DDR2-800, but 790i does support DDR3)
9800GX2 (but the GTX 280 comes out extremely soon)
QX9775 (x2) (Skulltrail) or QX9770 (for 790i)
Not sure...
Also, if you are basing it off mine, remember you do not need to buy a case like that. I only selected that one because my friend likes it, and it is a full tower with some added features such as a removable motherboard tray. All these features obviously are not necessary, so feel free to choose...
There are a ton of choices, and they're all so close to one another. Some have better timings, but I've heard some problems about voltage with some of them, so I'm sorta confused as to which I should buy now :|

^ This is true :). However, I read that the Xigmatek's thermal paste isn't very good and may be corrosive to copper >_> (at least someone on newegg stated that.) May or may not be true, but I'd avoid any risks.

O_o
and btw on the Dell, expect some horrible customer support =\. Plus, you're not even adding in the taxes- that will be a significant amount of money on a purchase like that, so just be aware of it if you decide to go with that Dell.
First of all, thanks for the help, and the help in my other topic.
I'd like a mid or full tower case that will keep the budget under 1500 dollars (it can go slightly over, but not too much over).
The case has to have good air flow, and a removable motherboard tray (at the minimum, any...
This CPU will most likely be OC'd to a fair amount (nothing too extreme). I know of the http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16835233003

Not really sure how many watts I need (some have told me that the 650W is excessive, but that PSU isn't that much more expensive than a 500W for example >_> (with MiR).
And I know a lot of people won't like the case. However, I really...

The GPUs will be the GTX 280's.
I plan on replacing the motherboard/memory/CPU (which I will probably sell to my friend for his computer) with the Nehalem Bloomsfield socket + CPU combo, thus why a 1200W PSU is included in that setup...
Yeah unfortunately there's no way I can get a cheaper copy of Windows. However, thanks a ton for all the helpful advice guys. But I'll definitely follow up with getting Vista.
I know there may be pre-builts for a better price, but that doesn't really matter. I want to build this inexpensive one to "prove" that I can build my own (which will be considerably more expensive obviously.)
No monitor, keyboard, or mouse is needed (or speakers).
This is for my father. He wants to keep it around 350 (give or take like 40 either way) dollars. It will only be used for accessing the Internet and word processing.

That is what I've compiled. Any suggestions/corrections =P?
If you want the best bang for your buck, I'd consider looking into the Q9450. It's basically just an underclocked QX9650, and although it can't be pushed as far as its extreme counterpart, it's 650 dollars less. The Q9300 is a weak choice considering its cache is a little low as compared to...
Well I've looked into that WD6400AKS. Perhaps I'm an idiot, but I can't see what's better about it (not saying that it isn't or anything). Do you mind telling me why I should choose it over the Seagate I picked (500GB is overkill as is most likely, so it's not really the size of the drive that I...
Alright. I guess it's my time to comment back lol.
Regarding the case, I've heard good things about Thermaltake, and I DEFINITELY like the toolless design.
The PSU I'm buying is actually cheaper than the Antec Earthwatts, and he may be wanting to get a bigger monitor in the future/SLi set up...

Yeah that's what I was thinking (regarding the SLi), but I wasn't sure at which resolution SLi really mattered (I personally use it because I am at 1920x1200). Thanks for the advice though.
It has to be under 1500 (including rebates). I've come up with this myself.

Any suggestions on that? Keep in mind I want a case with a removable motherboard tray (at minimum) to make my life easier. The 1500 includes the monitor/OS in...
1. What YOUR PC will be used for.
<A. High end gaming.
2. What is YOUR budget.
<<A. As stated before, 3700-4200 (no monitor)
3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
<<A. USA (newegg)
4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy...
Hey. I am wanting to buy a computer for 4000, obviously for high end gaming.
Price range is anywhere from like 3700-4200. I do not need a monitor. I would like liquid cooling, and a 64bit-OS. I've configured multiple times, but I'd like to get your guys input before I go out there and buy it...
