    which 4850?

It looks like it runs cool, because temps never get over 65 under load with my card. And it's not noisy card, I can hear its fan, but it's not that loud to be disturbing.

    My Vista x64 works great!

I have also used Vista x64 since the release of SP1. Before that this OS was pretty unusable for me, but now I never wouldnt change it back to XP.

It should work fine. Just be sure to download latest BIOS (v 2.0) to avoid possible compatibility problems. More powerful PSU doesn't hurt either.

Hey folks, I got a chance to try an Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 with this board and I can say it works great with official BIOS 2.0 so I do not see any need for unofficial bios. Games and 3D apps work fine, only be sure do disable PCIE downstream in BIOS before installing drivers since I've...

    CPU or GPU upgrade?

Thanks for all your replies so far. So Q6600 would be better option? I thought myself that I won't benefit so much from GPU upgrade. I guess going to quad will be more "future proof" because for example there's lot of UE3 games out there today that can utilize four cores.

    CPU or GPU upgrade?

I was wondering which upgrade one will give me better results, mostly in gaming. CURRENT SPECIFICATIONS: ASRock 4CoreDual-SATA2 R2.0 mobo Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 CPU @ 2,4 2 x 2 GB DDR2 Kingston @ 667 ATI Radeon HD 3850 AGP My current motherboard allows both AGP and PCI-E (however...

Thanks for reply, I do not intend to overclock anyway, just want to be sure I'm able to run with original clock speeds.

How well this board handles Q6600? I remember that manual mentions performance may be reduced by 5% with quad core CPU installed (was that reduced FSB speed and can it be manually restored)?

Yeah, my system seems stable now. I had to set RAM votage "Low" in BIOS and memtest is clear now. Hope it stays that way.

I had several issues with 2.02 BIOS, PC started to BSOD, memtest86 threw errors and BIOS lost one 2GB stick occasionally after Windows displayed MEMORY_MANAGEMENT stop error. So I flashed my MB again with 2.0 official BIOS and now the system seems stable. I've been running memtest for a while...

I don't know exactly what do you mean by "low voltage", but on the chip it reads 1,8V. I'll try your settings if I get chance.

VIA HyperionPro v5.18A but I don't think it does matter much because POST already reports 3072 (3 GB) as avalible memory.

Hi, Now I'm using Kingston DDR2 800 4 GB memory kit (2 x 2 GB). POST reports 3072 MB, if I enter BIOS utility, it shows 4096 MB installed, running Dual Channel mode and under Windows Vista x64 it reports as follows: http://img195.imagevenue.com/i...1_memory_122_247lo.jpg As you can see...

Is there some possibility to enable memory remapping feature with this motherboard? I guess we cannot utilize whole 4 GB of RAM until this is enabled or what..? I'd like to hear comments mostly from people who are actually tried that amount of memory with this mobo :)

Be sure to upgrade your BIOS to 2.0 and I can say Sapphire HD 3850 AGP runs perfectly with this board - I'm running it :)

    Asrock 4CoreDual-SATA2

I haven't experienced any slowdowns in general system use and gaming. Before 2 + 1 setup I was running 1 + 1 GB modules in dual-channel mode and tbh I don't see any difference. Maybe if I run some specific benchmarks the difference might come out, but I don't see much point for that.

    Asrock 4CoreDual-SATA2

Yes you are correct, it runs in single channel mode. Also is this motherboard able to recognize 4 GB of RAM (2 x 2 GB)?

Hi, Just want to report that this board works perfectly with 3 GB of RAM (2GB + 1GB Kingston 667 CAS5), POST shows 3072 MB and i'm using official 2.0 BIOS. Also has anyone tested Radeon 4850 with this mobo using official or unofficial BIOS and how it worked? I'm planning getting one, but...
