Setting up a Raid0 scratch drive

I do have an integrated raid controller, would I have to go into its BIOS during startup and create my array in there? And also when you say "windows raid", is that some sort of emulated raid with no controller required?

Setting up a Raid0 scratch drive

I want to set up a RAID0 array for my video work for storage and speed purposes. I'm trying to find a guide on the net, but the only ones I've been able to find cover setting up the array and installing an OS on it. I already have Windows XP Home installed (single drive) and just want secondary...

    Web design questions

My site is ranked on the search engines on page 1 (I don't want to link it here, otherwise the engines will crawl this post, index it, and it'll come up on page 1...), pretty much near the top of the page. I want to make some adjustments to my Meta tags though. I will be completely changing the...

The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable

With Spinrite, you may have a shot at repairing your partition. Burn Spinrite to a disc and boot from it. If anyone knows of anything better, I'd like to know. As far as I know, Spinrite is the best at what it does.

    Blue screen errors while gaming.

I found that the problem all this time was my raptor hard drive. I know this, because it died on me about 10 minutes after making this thread. I guess making a reinstall of BF2142 pushed it over the edge, it blue screened during installation. After doing a force restart, system files (hal.dll)...

When you boot into safemode, does it still give you problems? If not, then it's probably a driver issue. Check out the event viewer, it'll most likely say something.

    Hard drive imaging question

I'm building a new computer and have tons of files that I don't want to go through the trouble of backing up, among other inconveniences. Is it possible to just ghost my main drive (Windows XP installed on it), and then unpack that image onto my new system build? I am leaning towards a fresh...

    Ubuntu 8.04 network problem

Here's the cert chain for the cisco certs. As said above, you need to start at square 1 (CCNA). The most popular chain is the Routing & Switching. And yes, Cisco certs are self-study, but I have heard of classes that can offer help. Networking is one of the top most (if not, THE most)...

FIXED I got one for all of you. one day out of the blue I get this when trying to get into my network pc from another pc

I've had this problem a few times, and I've found it to be somewhat common; file sharing just mysteriously crapping out with no explanation and nothing will fix it, short of a reformat. This below commands worked for me. Type them into the DOS command prompt. Reset the TCP/IP and the...

Buying a custom-painted Antec 900 case from someone

Buying a custom-painted Antec 900 case from someone

I decided to give him a call, it turns out he does this on the side. In a nutshell, he buys cases, paints them, and sells for markup. He also claims to have access to tools and automotive-quality paints. I asked him how he paints the cases, he said he preps by sanding to the metal (uses power...

Buying a custom-painted Antec 900 case from someone

Someone in my area is selling a custom-painted Antec 900 case. I found it on the bulletin at my college. RV770: Too good to be true?

The router (depending on the model) may allow you to adjust the amount of bandwidth you can dedicate to each port (referring to the port their cable is plugged into, not tpc/udp ports); you can give the other guys low bandwidth while you give yourself the majority of it while you game. I can...

I'm in the market for a DDR2-800 FSB memory 2GB (2 x 1GB) kit, and I'm interested in CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB). It seems to be pretty popular on Newegg (#2 amongst all DDR2-800 memory in the first link), and Corsair is a very reputable name when it comes to memory, but I felt it was best to...

Suggestions for new AGP Vid Card??

Here's an AGP Sapphire 3850. Sapphire is a good video card company, too, but I'm not too keen on their coolers. I myself am more partial to Hightech (HIS) because of their superior GPU coolers. The cooler on the Sapphire 3850 looks a bit flaky, I'd replace it with a Thermaltake Duorb.

    Motherboard CPU incompatibility question

You guessed right, the X2 5600+ will be OCed. Ahh, the 3850, I too read that it was coming in AGP. Whether or not I'll get one (they're extremely well priced, $200'ish) will depend on whether or not my new setup will run games to my liking. My typical ingame-res will be 1280 x 1024, so I'm...

    Motherboard CPU incompatibility question

Taking into consideration that there's online vendors selling the MSI K9MM-V mobo and the X2 6400+ CPU combo, wouldn't that be a pretty good indication that they run ok together, as well as users reporting success?
