Could be an MSI bug too. I would go into CCC where you can control each card. See if you can get CCC to regulate both cards, if not, then it might be a driver thing. You can also look in GPUz for a 3rd monitoring method. You should be able to choose which GPU you want to monitor. Good luck!
GPU Make & Model: Sapphire 4870
Temps are from an average room temp of 75-80F
After thermal paste treatment but with stock fan settings:
Before idle: [78C] (10 deg drop from out of the box idle)
Before load: [never attempted a full load before fan fix]

When you see wisps of smoke and smell that odor of when you put an aluminum pan in the microwave you will know when you have fried something....seriously. Thermal paste is not meant to be caked on like frosting. It is supposed to be applied in a very thin layer so that it fills the surface...
You must not understand what your GPUs do when they xfire with a different card. It is like RAM, the faster one will downclock to the slower one. Even if it did work...WTF would you want to xfire a 4800 with a 3800? You should just go buy two 3800 cards because that is about the best you are...
You don't draw 1200W all of the time. You draw what your system needs. 1200W is just for the .001% of people who OC to record breaking clocks that have quad SLI/xfire and extreme quad core CPUs. The rest just want to have a big ewang to belittle others with smaller PSUs. People that have...
What? That is an insane temp drop. 7C difference from idle to load?....that doesn't look right......

Well....I take that back. Just about the same results for the 8800GT with the S1.
Nice posts everyone. There were no system specs listed so I am not going to get too bent out of shape over this. On Wed some bona fide information will come out (full reviews). Since their PSU died there is NO evidence supporting their statement that a 1KW PSU isn't enough for xfire.
I...
If Anand's total system draw for 2x4850 was 335W there is no way a 600W+ PSU is not enough for xfire 4850 unless you are running a boatload of disks and are filling up USB ports with your USB coffee maker and what not. Someone confirm or correct me on this but I think the ATI recommended PSU...
Once they start making non-reference cards they will have 1GB. I am actually going to hold out for the 1GB versions...I plan to have this card for a while so the 1GB should help the longevity. Anyway...check out THG china, they took one apart and list the specs...def not 850. Maybe it OCs to...
There we go. I was actually wondering this too. Anand made it sound like the PSU wasn't able to handle xfire but it didn't make sense seeing the total system draw was under 400W.
"Our 1000W OCZ EliteXStream wasn't always enough for the dual-GPU setup and in Call of Duty 4 our system...
Very interesting thread, I just completed the entire thing. First off, nice work to those pursuing this subject so diligently, especially Gary and Beagle. This is indeed a true shame. I have lost a lot of respect for both Tweak Town and Gigabyte upon seeing their responses. Although clumsily...
Dude, that is why I would never purchase a used CPU. If you get one from someone like Runaway...no offense...the d*mn thing has been worn down from over volting.
^ Very true. I would stay away from auto settings. Those voltages should be a far overshot. I am curious to see if you back down the MCH voltages, how low the X48 will go.
There are probably others but you are the first person I have seen validate the 9450 at 4GHz. Your X48 chipset looks like it is doing quite nicely. Are you stable at 4GHz? I saw someone else that validated the first X3350 at 4GHz on a P35 but they couldn't run demanding applications.
I have to wait for my spankin new Yorkie to become what the P4s are today. 2012? Quads are still going strong and it sounds like there will be Nehalem quad cores...just hyperthreading. I mainly game so seeing that games are jjjjjjust now seeing gains from quads, there won't be a jump to Octa...
What do you mean by prematurely...? 5 years...10 years? I am curious how long a CPU lasts if it is OCd 24/7 compared to how long it would last at stock settings. Have you ever had a CPU die that was OCd?
To simplify and add to the topic, higher voltages and their consequences are the...
A brand new expensive one that isn't compatible with any of your current hardware is what kind of mobo it will need. I love the people that think Nehalem is going to be a kick @ss CPU or even a kick @ss gaming CPU. Nehalem could be a complete flop laden with issues. At the moment, the best...
Indeed. I got X3350 from Moogr today, which is a day early thanks to FedEx. (I hate UPS BTW for this reason...usually takes 4 days for their 3 day shipping) Ordered on Sunday morn and got here on Wed before noon. Nice work Moogr / Byron.
Ah I hate that. They took it back to the FedEx location? Can you have them deliver it to your work?
FedEx will always leave the box by the door for my apartment. I don't know how I feel about that. It is nice to have it there when you come home but what if someone decides to snatch your...
Look for EMU forums. Someone OCd it but there aren't any bona fide reviews. This should give you an idea of how far you can push the quad.

Hahahah, the Irony..it hurts my sides. I wouldn't touch you, with a thirty-nine-and-a-half foot pole.
No seriously though Mr Grinch, you are spot on with that one. It is a bad banana with a greasy black peel.
My order is on the FedEx truck. What is killer is that NCIX prices are at $399. Lets just hope it isn't an open box or a refub or some rubish like that.
Haha, do it. I will be checking back here at 8:55 then :)
I bet they all channel through the same wholesaler so the inventory is sort of competitive in a sense. I think that is where it can fall in the cracks of a backordered product much easier.
They use a certain web set up that does the site layout for them so that is why they all look the...
Oops, to be clear, I was comparing the X3350 to the Q9000s. It is sort of off topic but parallel that these Xeon cores will probably do just the same as the desktop counter parts. Good call though. The E3110 does have the TXT, it is listed here as well on page 8...
Indeed Keep us updated.
Edit: So I did a little research on Moogr.com and was able to track down the owner in another forum. I didn't talk with him but I read a lot of posts regarding him setting up the site. (I will post further information on this later if there are any problems so that...
Ok so I am wondering the same thing. I was looking up the X3350 vs the Q9xxx series. I found a few things by looking at the data sheets side by side.
Desktop -----Supports Intel® Trusted Execution Technology (Intel® Core?2 Quad processor Q9000 series only) - The Intel® Core?2 Quad...
For anyone with the Sound Blaster Live!...I dont think there is much of a difference from a Live! card than an onboard audio. I had one and I didn't notice any differences.
I upgraded to an X-fi card and wow, 10xs better. One function it has is the crystallizer. I think that is the gem of...
I think I see what you are trying to say but what you said is not correct. It will draw more power from the +12V rail on the PSU.
Edit: Sorry, didnt see your edit!! I forgive!!!
The PCIe 2.0 you are talking about is still a 16 lane port so there aren't any physical differences that you have to worry about. The only thing that 2.0 does is double the speed of each lane from 250MB/s to 500MB/s. So multiply by 16 (x16 notation) and you get your 4GB/s to 8GB/s bandwidth...
