Silly, confused end user.
You don't need to uninstall dot.net
Just go into the control panel, user accounds and delete the ASP.Agent account. Also of note, keep the ASP.Agents files. If you don't you may have problems later on.
Install all the dot.net you want. No login problems...
I've seen this before.
Try this.....use a disk that you know you can boot from. Like a memtest+ CD
Boot to that disk. Now restart the machine ( DO NOT TURN IT OFF)
Take out the memtest CD and put in the HOME OS CD/DVD
Use Cntrl alt delete if you have to. (DO NOT TOUCH THE POWER...
Be careful guys. There's a few builds of 2009 out there. Go get build 454. Builds earlier than 357 have the networking stutter issue. Also the Iswift NTFS issue is fixed. There are very few issues left on the x32 version. I am unsure of what the condition of x64 is...
Explorer.exe in this case IS the windows shell.
Most likely because you are running HL in windowed mode, the explorer shells is fighting for time against HL.
A Pentium 4 1.5Ghz is considered very very slow these days.
I'm willing to bet my "Retro Server" runs circles around your...
I think you only have a choice of running a specific test or to run through the std test 1-5 and then repeat. Or Running the Adv tests which are all of the test.
I don't suggest that you do that as all its going to tell you is SOMETHING is wrong. Running a specific test will narrow that down.
Once Memtest + is running I think the keys are "C" 1 then 3 then the test # you want to run.
I suggest you make a Memtest+ 2.01 iso and boot from that.
if you get stuck in the menu, I think pressing 0 will get you out of the menu.
The "esc" key kicks you out of the program.
Its either a driver issue or a driver issue tied to the kernel. Does it happen with 7.10?
Go look in the wiki under (BUGS) known issues and see if that error is due to be patched in the upcoming 8.10 version set to be released October 10th.
You could look around for a better audio...
For giggles....do you by chance have a USB drive plugged in somewhere?
To test if your system is lieing to you go into the BIOS and turn all the boot devices off except the floppy.
and nplug all your USB devices.
Retry and let us know.
When you run Memtest+
If all or some the memtests seem to randomly fail you may have a power supply issue.
Run test (2) and then (4) 20 passes If it fails you have a Northbridge/CPU issue
Run test (3) 20 passes If this test alone fails you have a L2 cache access...
I 'll start:
Win98 se Because it was da bomb. I only reinstalled once in the final 4 years I used it as my primary OS. There was enough info on the WEB and in books for me to surgically repair the OS. I still to this day run the same install that I put there in 1998. My OS has so many...
Sorry Dell responded directly to that question. There will not be a new firmware version of the 2407WFP-HC.
All bets are off on the 2408WFP-HC......
Its either going to be the S-MVP samsung panel with the overdrive issue fixed or its going to use LG's new H-IPS panel.
I'm better they...
I forget who posted it. But I agree AMD will have their butts handed to them on a plate on overclocking performance. aka Q6600 at 3.2Ghz would probably be a little faster in most ways then a 3.0Ghz Phemon FX.
That said, the idle power of the Phemon FX at 3.0Ghz is most likely 100 watts less...
Guys.... its as simple as this.... Phemon is 30% faster in floating point at 2.0Ghz than the current Core 2 Duo at 2.0Ghz
But the Core 2 Duo is 30% faster at interger performance at 2.0Ghz.
AMD's Phemon has better scaling per clock than Core 2 Duo at 65nm. But no one knows how it will do...
As of today Chris said on the Dell Forum they found the problem and are in contact with the manufactuer to see what option they have to fix this issue. 9/12/07
Dell engineering found the problem in the newer 2407fpw-wc monitor.
Chris admitted it on the dell forum.
It will be a few weeks before the new rev is released.
But you can almost bet, IT will come.
