    Crucial

Actually, the bad RAM was after the D9s. When they started using high density double sided sticks, reliability went down the tubes. They made some changes at the beginning of 2009 (including scaling recommended voltage back to 2.0v). Since then, their reliability has improved. I can't say...

    Corsair in Trouble?

I hope you are satisfied purchasing without rebates. I however, have enjoyed saving several hundred dollars on my system through rebates. Out of about a dozen to five or six vendors, none failed to pay. But as I said above, I read the instructions.

    Looking to O/C a Phenom II (550 or 720) what DDR2 or DDR3?

Look at my sig again. By the way, some of them have gotten 4-4-4 1000 MHz out of them (although mine won't go past 900 at cas4).

    Looking to O/C a Phenom II (550 or 720) what DDR2 or DDR3?

How high will your FSB go? The hottest 1066 on the maket are Low Voltage Blade by OCZ (see my sig).

    Looking to O/C a Phenom II (550 or 720) what DDR2 or DDR3?

Since they both have the same Powerchip ICs, buy the cheaper of the two. However, AMD processors typically run better with lower latency over higher speed. I think you would be better served with 900 MHz 4-4-4-12: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820231211

I paid $25 for cas 3 Dominators. They went tits up in 3 weeks. You guys got a better deal.

DDR400 CAS timings vs. DDR2-800 and above

DDR and DDR2 are not interchangeable. However higher RAM speed generally offsets lower latency. Intel processors really like higher speed (MHz).

New RAM Upgrade - Timings Issue

Did you raise your northbridge (MCH-Memory Control Hub) voltage? Mobos typically need more when running 4 sticks.

    Memory Timings DD2 1066

No you won't damage RAM unless you give it too much voltage. If you set timings it doesn't like, it probably won't boot. Try 5-5-5-15 2.0v and run Memtest for stability: http://www.memtest.org/

    Faster memory ?

Run Everest at 1:1 and then at 5:6 or 4:5 and see if your performance improves. Most Intel processors like the higher speeds.

Do I need 1066Mhz RAM or can I stick with 800?

I would suggest some high end 800 or 1066 so you have the flexibility to OC the RAM later. Performance measurement programs show improvement with higher RAM speeds (about 10% difference in my case). Real world differences depend upon your applications.

Correct not the GMH & GXK. However, most Ballistix are rated at 2.0v and overvolting them is a sure way to RMA.

    GA-EP45-UD3P memory type ddr2 1000

800 is Powerchip and won't OC very far. 900 is Qimonda and suck at cas5 (like barely over 1000MHz). GSkill bins very tightly. Buy the speed you need if you choose them.

    Crucial 4gb pc2-6400 BL2KIT25664AA80A reliable?

2x2GB Dominator 1066 will go well over 1100 MHz. 2x2GB GSkill 1066 might hit 1100 if your lucky...they bin very tightly. Those Dominators are on sale for $39 after MIR:http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820145214

Will G.SKILL 2x2GB run at 1T command rate?

Don't misunderstand...I'm not saying they are poor quality, because they are quite good. Many other vendors build in OCability to their sticks (Mushkin, Corsair, etc...). GSkill sells exactly what the ICs will do. You may get lucky, but don't count on them to go higher.

Will G.SKILL 2x2GB run at 1T command rate?

Don't count on GSkill to run above spec. They typically don't OC well.

    Ballsitix Wins 8-way shoot out

The problem with that test, is the quality of the other competitors. The Mushkin they used was the lowest bin. HPs and XPs would have smoked the Ballistix. The Ballistix also fail now because they can't run 2.2v without burning up. Thats why Crucial lowered the standard voltage to 2.0v

    I need to order memory

GSkill bins their ICs very aggressively. There is frequently little overhead room to OC them. I would suggest a different brand or a faster speed of GSkill.

    I need to order memory

These Dominators are some of the finest Micron D9s, handpicked at the peak of ripeness. But they will still boot up at 1.8v just fine (as will almost all RAM these days). If you just want something simple and inexpensive, these others will do just fine...
