    Do all laptops have subpar video playback?

    I have a Canon HF10 and the videos (AVCHD) play back very nice on my desktop pc but on several different core2 based laptops have trouble with tearing or sound getting out of sync. I can encode fine with Sony Vegas and it does not seem like the system is underpowered however it's frustrating...
