    What's your 8800GTX Idle Temp?

allies; sorry to get you confused....I do not own a LIAN LI V1100 PLUS, I build high end systems for people.....and that case was the one I used in my latest build. In fact it's the "defacto" case I use although clients can select others. The CPU cooler that I used is the Intel stock cooler...

    QX6700 - possible bottleneck for 8800GTX SLI?

Your default Ram speed is 1066Mhz (533 Mhz x 2 = PC8500), not 1200 Mhz, that would be PC9600 memory. Formula: Say PC8500 memory: 8500/8 = 1066 Mhz DDR2, 1066/2= 533 Mhz actual speed Yours is running at 533 Mhz by default, not 600 Mhz. So, yes, you could set your FSB to 400-450 Mhz...

    QX6700 - possible bottleneck for 8800GTX SLI?

In your case, memory should be 300, but I see no point not to set it to work at 600. The higher the better if your FSB can't go higher. Your Ram is very expensive PC8500, that's a Ram speed of 533Mhz....if you could set your FSB speed to 533 Mhz you'd be running in 1:1 mode. Otherwise, you'll...

    What's your 8800GTX Idle Temp?

In my case, I used a Lian Li v1100 Plus, which has a 120mm fan (located over the cards) sucking air (exhaust fan, not pushing air to the cards) out of the case. That fan takes all the heat out of the case, specially the heat generated by the cards.

    QX6700 - possible bottleneck for 8800GTX SLI?

JAG87, Well, if you can't notice the difference, that's your problem I guess..... But just to point this out.....FSB is like a Highway that connects the CPU and RAM mainly, but that it also connects (gateways and exits) the rest of the system, so, the more lanes it has (higher FSB...

    QX6700 - possible bottleneck for 8800GTX SLI?

JAG87, you are wrong, XP and VISTA 32 bit can handle up to 4 Gb of Ram, but will never use the 4gb effectively, only up to 3.5Gb will be used depending on your system's hardware. Yesterday I built a system with a QX6700, a 8800GTX and 4 Gb of Ram...XP 32 bit used effectively 3 Gb of Ram, the...

    QX6700 - possible bottleneck for 8800GTX SLI?

What can bottleneck your system's performance is your FSB speed....QX6700s at stock speed (2.66Ghz) need at least a FSB speed of 1333Mhz (333 FSB x 4) not to get noticeably bottlenecked. Even with that FSB speed, a higher FSB speed like 1600 Mhz (400 FSB x4) for stock speed (well, 381 FSB x...

    What's your 8800GTX Idle Temp?

The latest system I've built 2 days ago for a wealthy client, had a Lian Li V1100B Plus and an ASUS 8800GTX among other components. OS: VISTA ULTIMATE 32 BIT Nvidia drivers: 158.18 Vista 32 bit (Clean install, no previous Nvidia drivers installed before) Core Idle temp: 56ºc Core...

High pitch whine coming from the 8800 GTX

No loud high pitch whine coming from this ASUS 8800GTX....(Building a custom system for a client) In fact it's as silent as a baby sleeping.... This card produces less noise (in 3d mode) than an Intel QX6700 stock cooler at 50% speed. Simply amazing!! So I guess it's not a general...

8800 GTS vs 8800 GTX comparison

I agree. An overcloked 8800GTS matches (1:1) GTX performance at 1680x1050. To be honest, you don't need more than a 8800GTS 320Mb to play at a maximum resolution of 1680x1050....for 1920x1200....you'll need a GTX however. In 2 weeks time I'll get a GTS 320Mb...ready to play Company of Heroes.

Me too shimmishim..... Guess who's gonna get one of those 300$ quads? hehehe.... Intel is on steroids since summer 2006 and C2D.....Intel wants AMD to bite the dust for some time....and I am afraid they are on the right way..... Wake up AMD....the market needs you (for even lower CPU...

If you want to OC your C2D to 3.2 Ghz on air cooling with a FSB of 400 Mhz....and DDR2 800 memory I think the answer is pretty clear, get an E6400 and you'll be very happy for a loooong time....until Quad cores are affordable (autumn-winter 2007) If you buy an E6600 now or 6 weeks...

    Best 20"-22" 1680x1050 monitor

For sure there are, but only 20" panels. ALL 22" panels are TN. Price range for 20" non TN panels: 399$ - 699$ For 399$: DELL 2007 WFP (now mostly S-IPS, bang for your buck, otherwise, S-PVA) For 550$: NEC 20WGX2 (AS-IPS, very good panel, glossy finish...that's up to you, I cannot stand...

16 hours of Orthos, 14 hours of Memtest86+

Just a simple question....Did you run 16 hours of ORTHOS small FFTs or Blend Test?? Default in Orthos is Small FFts I think. Just in case, for system stability, you should run the Blend test. Memtest is not enough for Ram memory testing. So, if you only ran ORTHOS Small FFts to check...

I have just bought a new 22" DELL E228FWP for 351$ from DELL's web...it's on rebate....nice TN panel for that price. It's for my sister. I prefer S-IPS....you know, once you S-IPS.....

Possible to overclock with 4 sticks of RAM on P5B-E Plus

Hitting 3.6Ghz out of your E6600 with that cooling and board is not going to be easy at all, and I bet you won't get to that speed with less than 1.5v....E6400s and E6300s overclock much better with P965 chipsets.... Mine hits 3.6Ghz with 1.460v...but I think I own a pretty damn good chip...

Core 2 Duo E6300 normal temperatures

Yeah...50cº is a rather high temp for idle state....when I tested the Intel stock cooler, my 6400 overclocked to 3.2Ghz (watch my sig) was hitting 43-44cº idle...and a maximum of 59cº at load. With my XP-120 on it, things change considerably...29-31 cº idle and 45-47ºc load. Maybe you have...

    S-IPS: Are there any left?

2007FPW arrived in perfect shape...and...it's a S-IPS too...A03 RT803, the same as mine...I'll test it for a few days... This is great guys, DELL is delivering A03 S-IPS panels (since December 2006) and quite good ones... My only two "complaints" would be a slight flickering issue in some...

    S-IPS: Are there any left?

I'm with you n7, I just can't believe Zebo prefers a TN film panel (even the best one right now) over a S-PVA panel....it's simply ridiculous....I've had already on my desk two 22" TN panels (Samsung 225BW and Viewsonic 2235wm), a 21" Samsung 215TW (S-PVA) and a 20" DELL 2007FPW (A03 S-PVA) and...

Dell E207WFP 20-inch Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor

The new DELL E207WFP uses a TN film panel...which is a lower cost and lower quality panel compared to the S-IPS and S-PVA panels the DELL 2007WFP uses....so that lower price is justified. In other words, DELL is not giving you more for less...

Any 22 widescreen LCDs comparable to the NEC 20.1 20WMGX2 widescreen?

Yeah, all 22" displays right now use TN film panels so if you need your screen for anything other that gaming...(and even gaming experience is poorer with these TN panels) you'd better get a good 20" display like Viewsonic's VX2025wm (P-MVA) or DELL's 2007WFP (S-IPS and S-PVA). You can also...

What are people talking about when they say "video encoding"?
