Hi AnadTech peeps, I'm looking for some help (title says it), here is the background...
I have two computers behind a D-Link DGL-4300 (Gamer's Lounge WLAN router). Both are 1-2 yr old AMD64 systems, connected via Gigabit to the router. My wife and I are avid gamers (lucky me :) ), and...
So a few months ago I picked up an Mx1000. I played with it for a few weeks, but felt like it ruined my game (play a lot of FPS games). I totally felt like it lagged, so I dumped it and went back to my Mx500.
But I've realized lately that other people use this mouse and don't notice the...
Hi XFX 6800GT PCI-E owners!
I managed to totally waste the firmware on my card (long story).
Is there any chance that someone with a matching part number could use NVFlash to copy your original video card BIOS, and email it to me? This way I can reflash the firmware and recover the card...
An FPGA is not the same thing as a BIOS. Its a reconfigurable chip. Learn more...
Imagine having a video card that doesn't support H.264.
Then imagine an open source developer releasing an extension for an FPGA that did H.264.
Finally, imagine downloading that extension INTO the FPGA...
Just wondering if anyone knows about anyone working on an open-source video card?
I've been thinking lately how cool it would be to get the open source community working on some hardware based around a fast FPGA - so developers can optimize the hardware to the game, and instead of buying a...
My friend just got this and it doesn't recognize in her PC. She's tried several PCs and none work, WIN does not even recognize that the device has plugged in - never installs or asks for a driver. Anyone have any ideas?
FYI, MobiBlue does not have phone support.
I just picked up some Mushkin Redline XP4000 dimms. These require active cooling

I've poked around Newegg/Monarch/etc. for active memory solutions and can't find a good variety.
I've considered chopping a hole in the side of my case...
A-fvcking-men.
But Rollo, I find your linkage-proof that the 6600SLI is faster than a single 6800GT very interesting, considering in most cases its within 6fps - like who notices 6 fps.
Just reinforcing my position that SLI is an EXCELLENT upgrade path for
1) People want a certain level...
Nice find OP. Too bad I hit up the $100 cheaper 6800GT PCIe... almost regret that now.
Wonder if all the ATI rebates are to combat those 7800GTX buyers
I read somewhere you can do this with current SLI - but of course not in 'sli' (parallel GPU) mode. In non-SLI, can't you do up to 4?
I wonder if anyone has tried to benchmark this setup
Aghh... moral of my 'story' is they are close enough in performance, if you can get a hot deal on 2 cards to SLI, its probably worth it in most cases. Or you can just buy 1 of everything like Rollo ;-)
Tom's V
First and foremost, this guy has a 6600gt now, and isn't crying about 13 fps in BF2. I feel safe in my assumption that he isn't running a 21" CRT @ 1600x1200 4xAA 8xAF. Maybe I am wrong.
In most cases with 4xAA & 8xAF, I am right to within +/- 7%.
1024x768 Doom3: 6800GT >...
So this waste of Anandtech's storage space is how Diamond members get their 'status?'
When you SLI two cards, you ~ get equal performance to the next one up.
SLI is a good upgrade path IFF $2xSLI << $1xNextUpgrade.
Example 1:
$(2 x 6600GT) << $(1x 6800GT)
Example 2...
Well either MSI messed up and didn't follow the mechanical specs for SLI, or Nvidia messed up and changed the specs or messed up the 7800GTX. Since Nvidia wrote the specs, my guess would be on MSI.
The guy(s?) at Inquirer are definitely not the best writers, but post some interesting/short...
Its real simple guys - don't buy these cards and prices will drop - classic supply and demand. If there is no demand, they have to lower prices to create it.
Hope MSI comes out with a good deal/tradeup for people that own the K8N SLI.
Inquirer has the story
I almost got this board, but went with the DFI instead. The K8N is a sweet board, but this makes it far less sweet to anyone looking to upgrade in the future.
1) High-speed memory is the best investment you can make to ensure performance and reliability. Anyone that's gotten $3 DDR266 at Fry's knows what I'm talking about.
2) Corsair Value is teh SuX00R!!!!!111!!!1
I just spent about 15 minutes and the mod worked.
