I have the Gainward 6800 GT GS. I love the card, OCs without a hicup. However it is very LOUD! Loud as in you can here my pc across the house. Loud as in like I have some kind of HVAC chiller in my computer room.
You can configure the fanspeed with the included software, but even at low...
I went over to Monarch Computers this afternoon to pick up some stuff. I overheard a sales rep talking to a customer about the OCZ 520w Powerstreams. The customer was in the shop to pick one up. The sales rep told him that they were pulling the power supplys off the shelf because they had...
I got this in June, It's got a dual 12volt rail, however the amps on each rail are 16 and 15. Does this mean I'm fubared, if I want to run it with a MSI board and 3500+ chip? I'm not clear on all things PSU.

I'm such an idiot, I just updated my nividia drivers two weeks agon, so I assumed that they would be ok. Evidently the card wasn't happy with them. I just uninstalled my old driver, and then installed the driver that came with the card.
Seems to be happy now.
OMG!!, I was wondering what...
Ok I set it to the card to the GT defaults.
3D mark ran fine, with the card overclocked. City of Heroes worked as well. CoD crashed once, but I was then able to play. I ran the Hurtegen level without any problems.
What's wierd is two times Doom actually started, but then crashed when I...
I just installed my new Gainward 6800GT Golden Sample. Install went without a hitch, everything seems to be running fine.
However when I went to start DOOM III, the program acts like it's about to start, then crashes to the desktop.
My new card is OC to the ultra settings.
Any ideas...
As a newbie to this modding business, let me tell you what's happened to me so far.
I know how to put a pc together and install windows, but as far as sleeving the psu, cutting holes, etc....never did it, and I didn't feel comfortable doing it.
So I thought I would just buy a case that was...
I recently bought a Sony G410 and I love it, very crisp, great on the eyes. It is big though.
So I'm wondering, how long do you think it will take LCD's to reach CRT quality in regards to games?
After much debate I just purchased a Sunbeam fan controller, over my other option which was the Vantec. Here's my problem. I know the Sunny is a great controller, but it's just plain ugly...cheesy graphics and blindingly bright LEDS.
So is there anyway I could change out the LEDS for something...
Okay here's the deal,This is the first pc, that I?m building that isn?t a hash of old parts and new (think computer jalopy). My wife to be is getting my old box. Since I don?t have 1500-2000 bucks to blow all at once, I?m slowly acquiring components and building over the summer. I?m trying to...
I'm going to upgrade in the next few months and plan on buying a P4 in July or August. I don't want to spend anymore than $400 (ouch!).
So I've noticed that these two are both around 400 bucks
Intel P4 478 2.8 GHz 800 FSB
Intel P4 3.06GHz CPU 533 FSB
So which is faster, or actually...
Be sure to reconnect the connectors the exact same way you found them, that means the black (grounds) wires as well.
I thought all I had to be careful with was the the red and yellow wires, and messed up an Enermax psu. If I wasn't curious and posted questions to the forum, I might have...
woohoo! I used piano wire and it started up fine. Connected the old cd drive to the first connector, it worked, however when I added an old HD to the second molex, the HD started smoking...
Not Good
Actually I do have an old MB as well as old floppy and HD. Since this isn't hooked up to a cpu and monitor, how do I know the peripherals are working? Would it be simply that the items don't begin to burn, or would they not work at all?
Thanks again for the help guys, I know that this is very...
No prob Buz, if I was an expert I wouldn't be asking stupid questions.
What's funny is that I haven't seen any of these issues mentioned in various "how to" guides I've come across on the net.
The good thing is I've only messed with two of three peripheral cables, so if it is meesed up, I'm...
....soooo...I'm assuming my psu is trashed then? Because there's no marking on the black wires to differentiate them.
I've only done the two. The P4 cable is small enough that I don't need to take it apart to cable, and the MB cable came sleeved.
Looking at the wires as they exit the psu...
This is the first time, I've done this. I've paid close attention to reconnecting my four pin connectors, and after a first sloppy trial, the second cable was much easier. My concern was over the two middle black wires. There was no way I could get the shrink wrap around the female plugs by...
Would be nice if we could get a review on both boards from somewhere (hint, hint) ...anywhere. I haven't seen nadda (save press releases from Abit) from any of the tech sites.
Cool that's what I was hoping it meant. So to translate the G model has a built in sound and NIC card while the plain one doesn't, correct? It seems like a no brainer to go with the plain one, least for me, I already have an audigy 2 card and nics are super cheap.
Ok asking stupid noob question...does this mean it doesn't support DSL, cable? what does that mean?
Also, has anyone seen any reviews on these MB's yet?
Because the way I do my upgrades is somewhat wierd. I hate maxing out my credit cards, so I buy a few components per month till I have everything I want and then build away. Ok I know the next question, "So why don't you save the money you need and buy everything at once?". Well...more often...
I just got my new Enermax 465AX from Newegg yesterday. Since I haven't recieved my case yet I decided to plug it in to see if it worked.
The fans didn't do anything but I heard a click when I turned off the switch, just like you would with a power strip. So can I assume my PSU is ok and that...
Hi. Board Noobie here, with just enough computer knowledge to be dangerous. Which means I can do basic comp setup with assistance, unfortunately I have moved away from my comp. sensai.
Ok here's the issue, I'm the process of upgrading my PC and doing handmedowns for my fiance and her mother...
