I am trying to connect two computers together that both have Windows XP Home Edition. I want to connect both ethernet cards together using a crossover cable. I do not have a hub.
I have already connected both computers with the cable, and the green light comes on in both computers. However...
Do you know of a way to mod a regular CPU powersupply so it will deliver current even if there is no motherboard attached?
I am trying to setup a sever-rack case to do nothing but measure temperature and control a few fans, through a 5 inch bay multi-probe panel.
Thanks alot. I need something...
According to Asus Probe, my voltage are running fairly stabe. For the 3V channel, it steady at ~3.296 and the 1.5V channel is steady ~1.552.
Is this not a good mark? It's wierd because my previous PSU was crappy and only 300 watts. This antec is at 430 watts.
Thanks for the info though.
I overclocked my computer awhile ago. Things, recently, seemed to fall apart after I installed a antec tru power supply. I can't get to where I used to be.
At first guess is it the cpu, or memory?
Even if the 430 antec can't handle your system, what is your next alternative. An at-home power substation straight from the electric company? 430 watts is a serious supply. ;)
I am doing a hardware upgrade for a friend of mine who is running Windows 98.
Basically we changed the motherboard from a socket 370 to a MSI socket 478. As well, we changed the proccessor from a Celeron 500 mhz to a Celeron 1.7 ghz.
Everything else stayed the same. When I connected everything...
I agree. I wasn't aware that NEC or Samsung made LCD's that had that 16:9 aspect ratio. I have to say, most people with Macs sure take pride in making a statement. It's like those frickin luxury SUVs. Why pay that extra price, when their computers don't have any signigant advantage other than...
I requested a Scandisk of my two of my partitions on bootup a few days ago, and since then, everytime I boot up, it keeps doing it over and over, even after it's initial completion.
Is there a way I can get rid of this scan request? I have tried scanning another drive, but that does not work.
I just got a multi-sensor display for temperature, voltage, fan-speed - I was wondering where the best place I should put the sensor to monitor the CPU temperature. I imagine sticking it between the heatsink and chip would not be best. Where is the best place?
Also, I have about 8 sensors...
Well, I meant in bulk up to a certain point. I would like to not stock anything, and until I build up a solid customer base, I wouldn't be able to buy from manufacturers.
I am trying to organize a business and I am searching for a good computer parts dealer that provides services for other businesses. (bulk rates, corporate accounts, and return policy, and a broad spectrum of products) Any recomendations? I would chose new egg in a sec, but they don't really...
My most recent results with this OC is 2.4 @ 2.8 with a 156 FSB. My voltage is around 1.65 plus the asus overvolts. I have PC2100 RAM.
I feel this proc has a little more in it, but my memory craps out at a higher FSB. Is there any settings I can change to get to 2.88 or even 2.9. Is 3.06...
What is a good site that lists and categories the various opensource programs available for free? Preferably the Linux programs that have been ported over to Windows.
How about sites that have all around solid programs available to be downloaded?
Does this overvolt show up in the Asus PCProbe monitor. I have seen the Vcore voltage up to 1.584. Or does it mean the *actual* overvolt is higher than this?
Good news, my project has been off to a nice start and I am at 2.7g with a 150 FSB. It's stable after running Prime95 all night long. My Vcore is 1.525, and I am guessing I might be able to get to 2.9~3.0 with this proc.
I've got a single stick of 512 266 DDR, but it is currently running at 225...
I have a ASUS P4B533-E motherboard. When I enable the onboard Intel LAN, there is a serious system slowdown. With it disabled and driver uninstalled, it is better. When I use the RAID function. I have a system semi-freeze for a couple a seconds every 30 seconds. I installed the FAST Track...
I GOT SERIOUSLY MISLEAD BY THE $%^ & DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM. too bad, I should have done more homework, I was too excited to have cash to buy new components. He said the 2.4 had hyperthreading when I asked him. Is it only the 3.0 that has HT? :o
THUGSROCK, Thanks for your information. Quick, question. What exactly does the AGP/PCI ratio do? How should I integrate changing that as I go up the steps in my OC to 2.8?
Do you think my 266 DDR Ram can handle that speed?
Is your P4 a C1? or BO?
Peace,
LoCache
I am thinking of upgrading my Asus P4B533-E motherboard, to the latest BIOS to support my 2.4 proc's Hyperthreading ability. I was wondering what other's experiences were. Do you have to enable anything in the BIOS after you upgrade? Is there an across the board advantage of Hyperthreading?
Here's my Beef: A couple of years ago I switched to apple and bought a G4 thinking it was a badass computer. I thought the operating system rocks, and it looked cool. I also told people my computer was better than there PCs.
After a few days of use, I realized that it has it's own problems...
THUGSROCK, what are your AGP/PCI settings on the P4533 BIOS w/ your OC? What is the factory speed of your ram? What settings did you use to acheive 453 DDR?
Thanks for everybody's input.
I just got a new proc and motherboard, and I would like to overclock for the first time.
Read a lot of the old posts, but I still have a few unanswered questions.
My 2.4B has a 533 FSB and is of a BO vintage.
With my ASUS P4B533-E, how can I underclock the memory so it is not over-taxed as I...
