I wish I hadn't invested in watercooling already. This thing looks fantastic. www.2cooltek.com says they are in stock now, btw.

Well, the AMD Athlon64 3000+ looks like the best thing since sliced bread,
based on its un-overclocked results:

(thx to Derek Baker for the link)
The real question to me now is the overclocking situation, which seems very
confused. If you could get this...
Hi, this is about your Athlon 64 Vs. Pentium 4 article, specifically the use of Quake3 as a CPU benchmark when comparing AMD vs. Intel cpus, as shown on this page

Its now almost 2004, and sites are *still* using this 3-year old game to benchmark.
FACT: Both 3DNOW and SSE are non-functional in Quake3 on AthlonXP cpus (and probably disabled as well on the Athlon64, no data there as yet), but SSE is *enabled* on all Intel cpus. Not a big surprise there...

I think this guy is worth talking to. He argues that Quake3 is very biased toward Intel chips and if it simply detected the athlon as SSE-enabled rather than 3dnow-enabled you would see huge speedups.
He apparently worked with AMD trying to incorporate this...
Hi, after installing a watercooling setup (love it!) the high-pitched whine of my harddrives is very noticeable and quite annoying! Anyone have suggestions on quieting these down?
