I am facing this weird problem with my system. Have a gigabyte X58A-UD5 motherboard, Core i7 920 and 6 x 2 GB DDR3-1066.
I have multiple hard drives one of which is dedicated for the hackintosh mac OS installation. Only when I boot off this hard drive, load the mac OS and then do any...
Boards that have multiple storage controllers can do this (ICH10+Marvell+JMicron combinations). Some chipsets like those used in nForce 790i have multiple controllers in the southbridge which also permit multiple storage configurations.
I am trying to OC a Gigabyte X58 mobo with Core i7 920 D0 and Corsair DDR3-1600 mem (6 X 2 GB) . With issues of CPUs frying out, I am looking for reliable articles that talk about what to do and what not to preferably for this specific CPU and gigabyte boards in general (not particular about...
I have 3 X 1.5 TB HDDs on an nForce 790i SLI motherboard in a RAID5 configuration. My write speeds to this drive is around 30 MB/s which seems tragically low. Is something wrong or is this the best I can expect because of the software RAID implementation?
Thanks in advance.
Will check again with lower speeds (I tried 1333 earlier that didn't help).
What would be the safe peak voltage for memory? I remember reading something about CPUs destroyed because of higher memory voltage.
I am in Bangalore and I do use an UPS.
I am located in India.
I picked up a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5(cost me around 500$) for workstation use (for my brother who is into digital content creation and gaming) with 2 packs of Corsair triple channel memory 6 X 2GB DDR3-1600 Corsair XMS3 3X6G1600C9 (another 500$ for this) and Core i7 920...
I picked up parts for a new system mainly for gaming and digital content creation - Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 motherboard with Core i7 920 and 12 GB (6 X 2 GB) DDR3-1600 memory [2 packs of corsair TR3X6G1600C9 rated @ 1.65V].
I simply can't get the system to reliably detect 12 GB of RAM. It...
There are two partitions, 150GB for the OS of which 50 GB is free and another of 1.1 TB of which 155 GB is free. I doubt if there are page swaps causing the problem. I have about 4 GB of RAM.
The noise is clicking and doesn't sound fatal, I have heard similar sounds on drives I have owned...
I recently moved from 2 X seagate 250GB 7200.10 HDDs in RAID 0 to a single Seagate 1.5 TB 7200.11 HDD. I intend to pick up 2 more of the latter and do a RAID 5.
My 1.5 TB is almost full now and I have begun to notice off late that occasionally while playing videos off the drive, the video...
The system I have now is not going to be a storage server. For the moment since this is the only system I have and I need storage space I am planning to buy some large capacity drives. Later I will build another system (the HTPC + Storage) and migrate all these large capacity drives . The...
Depends on whether the video encoding software can make use of the GPU. If it can, I am thinking this should be fine (some TV Tuners do, don't recollect which ones). Else it is a question of whether the Atom CPU can handle this. I am guessing it can if recording is the only main activity you are...
I have an nForce 790i ultra based system which I use primarily for browsing, gaming, torrents, music and movies. I have a single 1.5 TB HDD for OS and storage and that's almost full and and I am looking for some internal drive upgrades and need some suggestions on this front. I have a 1TB WD My...
I have the exact same issue! HP DV2000. The symptoms sound exactly like those listed for the bump issue. Only, I don't find this particular model listed as being covered as a special case in warranty.
"While enabling vsync does fix tearing, it also sets the internal framerate of the game to, at most, the refresh rate of the monitor (typically 60Hz for most LCD panels). This can hurt performance even if the game doesn't run at 60 frames per second as there will still be artificial delays added...
I am planning to build an HTPC system that will double up a storage server for my home network which has a macbook and a P45 based gaming system (yet to build this one, currently own an Nforce 680i with a GTX275). I need some advice in this regard
My requirements from the HTPC system is to...
Display underflow has something to do with screen getting filled with a particular color or line shifted pixels because of inability to display card to get data to monitor in time. I am not sure I get this concept right and wanted to know if someone could explain this in better detail. Thanks.

I picked up an Intel DG45ID for my HTPC setup and it does not support the Q9550 processor. I swapped out the processor with a 9650 and it doesn't work either. However it works fine with a 9450.
When I power on the system with the 9550 or 9650 the board throws me a message that the processor...
I have a mac-mini with the leopard OS. My 80 GB HDD in the mac mini filled up real quick and I moved all my movies and music to an external HDD that I recently purchased. I am unable to figure how to make the music and the movie folders within my home folder point to the folders with the same...
I remember reading that the E6300 and the E6400 were the allendale core. Then intel launched the E4xxx series which were also called the Allendale. My question is, did intel start calling E6300 and E6400 as conroe's since launching E4xxx? I am having an argument with a colleague that the E6300...
I am thinking of gifting my dad a simple point and shoot camera. I am looking for something which can deliver good image quality without the need to adjust controls. The camera shouldn't have too many controls either.
Do you recommend any?
Also, do you know of any good deals going on...
Do you know if this mice has any issues like the G7? I found that the problem with G7 was the intereference with my wifi router - airport extreme operating at 2.4 GHz. I don't wanna buy the VX rev and find the same problem again. Thanks for the info.
I picked up a mac mini and the apple wireless keyboard with it. Since the mighty mouse had bad reviews, I decided to skip it and bought my friend's logitech G7. I love this mouse when it works, but that is rare. It freezes intermittently (even in my PC) and is making my life miserable. I need a...
I recently picked up an apple bluetooth keyboard for use with my mac mini and PC. I got a bluetooth receiver for my PC and now i can independly use the keyboard on the the mac and the PC. However, i want to use the keyboard on both the computers using a KVM (iogear usb 2 port kvm). Unfortunately...
I recently bought my first mac - a mini and have my PC and the mini hooked up to the internet via an airport extreme. I would like to try and transfer files from my PC to Mac and Vice versa and have no clue how to go about this. A few tutorials I came across on the net are not very clear. Any...
Would buying 802.11n be a good idea? I really dont have any devices that can make use of n speeds at the moment., but maybe it will help in the future. I am thinking of dropping into frys or central computers in the santa clara area and picking it up.
Thanks for your responses,
