I swear this is not a joke...

Did I say you are the MAN!? I got the Asian version of the F13, and loaded through the BIOS/CMOS QFLASH utility, rather than the other option...@BIOS, which fooked me in the first place. This worked. I am now writing to you on my formerly dead computer, with the updated F13 BIOS...

I swear this is not a joke...

ViRGE, you are a genius. That worked. It loaded the archaic F3, but XP booted. Praise the lord!!!! Wow. I am just flabberghasted that the latest BIOS would not work. Guess I have to take back all my nasties about the dual bios, since that seemed to have saved me. Now, the question...

I swear this is not a joke...

OK. ViRGE, I see you've done this a few times, as deleting Autoexec worked on my other backup disk. While I was making boot disks, I did go with the notion that the latest BIOS might be a total piece of sheet. So, I made a boot disk with the previous version. Caldera finally loaded...

Well, that seemed to at least do something different. Does a post, then the last thing it says... Seems better, but er...just can't get that freakin' prompt.

I swear this is not a joke...

Ok, I went to bootdisk, created the disk for the A: drive. I saw the autoexec.bat and the command.exe loaded, took the disk home, and gave it a whirl. I fired up the box, who's non-function is ruining my life, went into the CMOS, and adjusted the boot sequence to boot from floppy...

Also, can I do the same thing on a CD-R and boot from that?

I swear this is not a joke...

ViRGE - Thanks Brother! I really appreciate the advice. I will try this tomorrow morning and let you know how it goes. In the meantime, I am also logging questions to Gigabyte support. They are not very responsive though. Thanks again.

I swear this is not a joke...

Yes, I have a CD Burner on another computer, and a floppy drive. What next?

I swear this is not a joke...

ViRGE - Thanks for the reply. Yes, I can boot at least to CMOS. And it does show the option for the "QFLASH", but when you hit that option, and enter, you get a black screen with a blinking cursor. Keyboard does not affect cursor. Essentially, the included utility does not load from CMOS.

I swear this is not a joke...

Pictures, music, photos, work, spreadsheets, financials, etc. All just sitting there one minute, trapped in a machine the next. I know I can hook up the external, get a new computer, and extract, but c'mon!! We're talking about a simple BIOS flash you a-holes! And, don't you just love that...

HELP! DEAD DESKTOP - working yesterday, now won't even turn on

Sieis - thanks for the reply!!! Per the PSU, it was an Antec straight from the store, in plastic, that made a little squeal when I plugged it in an flipped the switch. When the test did not work, I just returned it. No, I left it in the case, took out the RAM, video card, sound card, and...

"hope just that got killed" Sweet - can't wait to go through all that to only one conclusion. Thanks for the reply. To answer your questions.. iPOD still works System - No fans, no nothing. Even after replacing the PSU. I don't see any lights. It's as if the power doesn't even...

Hey guys, I am a gamer attempting to complete an OS reinstall. I have some questions about doing this. For example, can I back up saved game files so that I me restart at my current progress level in the games I've been playing? I've been told I can do this with profiles for certain games...

    Something IS wrong!

Well, it may also be the you have AMD's "Cool N' Quiet" activated. Please see their website for more information. My Athlon 64, if you right click on System and go to properties, with CN'Q enabled, says 1000Mhz. disabling CN'Q jumps it back up to normal.

    GA-K8NSNXP-939

I am not quite sure what it should be. I went with the assumption that a little overclocking needs a bit more juice for that CPU, so I bumped mine up to 1.6V. Yes, I did this blindly, but my machine hasn't started smoking, yet :) Try calling AMD, and let us know what you find out. Cheers,

Only problem with that one, is that it is for Xbox only. Wish there was a 2.5mm to dual 3.5mm connector to split the mic from the audio so that I could plug it into my sound card. Any recommedations?

Thanks Ballistyx, I was hoping you would answer this one, knowing your rep on this thread. I use both Ventrilo and Teamspeak, and they both allow you to select non-default sound/mic options, which is good. So, glad to hear it is possible - that makes things a bit cheaper for me as I will...

2 channels: Onboard sound & PCI Sound Card @ the same time

Thanks, whattaguy. Yeah, I have an SB Audigy 2 ZS and an SB Audigy Gamer. My feeling is that if I download the driver executable for the Audigy Gamer, it may get mixed up with the Audigy 2. I.e., the Audigy gamer drivers may overwrite the Audigy 2 ZS drivers? I may try it, but I am a bit...

    Best EARBUD/MIC for gaming voicechat

Here is a pretty cool one I found: This Green one from Plantronics look pretty cool. I have 7.1 surround speakers for all the in-game action, but am looking for something specifically for Ventrilo or Teamspeak that operates on a different channel. Requirements: One ear only, small, good...

2 channels: Onboard sound & PCI Sound Card @ the same time

2 channels: Onboard sound & PCI Sound Card @ the same time

I own the Gigabyte GA-K8NSNXP-939 that has Onboard sound (currently manually disabled in BIOS). I think it's Realtek. I also have a SB Audigy 2 ZS sound card. I use this to game with in 7.1 surround sound. I also want to get a microphone/earbud for voice communication, and use this as a...

    GA-K8NSNXP-939

Sounds like a personal problem ;) J/K - seriously, though...this does sound like an isolated problem, and may just be your board or your RAM. I have not run any memory tests to find out the difference between Command rate, stablity has not been an issue for me since I bumped up my voltage to...
