Thanks. I am going to in to work on this again today.
If I get that issue resolved - Can I turn on RAID and make the OS drive an 'array' by itself (I only have one) and have the other two 500G drives be their own array? In the RAID BIOS I can see that I can set up multiple arrays.
Got a new custom built machine today that I am going to be using as server. Can't remember the brand of motherboard (it is at work). It has Raid 0/1 on the motherboard, and 4 SATA connectors. I had one 250G installed, and I went and bought two more 500G drives in the hopes of creating a RAID1...
QuickSilver - thanks for the info. I was hoping to do it with the built in unzip (right click--- extract) without having to download anything. I'll do it your way if I have to. I would think (there I go again) that if it can be done with a right click it can be done with a command line.
Are there any good sites that compare the various lines of Mac computers so I know how they stack up against each other? I'll be buying one in a month or two and since have been thinking in PC terms for so many years I am sure I need to get my head around how to think Mac. For example: A gig is...
Does anybody know the command line equivalent of the Windows Explorer right click 'Extract' menu option? I need to script the unzip of a zip file that I am downloading.
Thanks,
Patrick

I bought a great machine that was advertised in the for sale section here awhile back. I wish I could find the thread so I could tell you what kind of case/mb I have. I really don't know.
Anyways... the case has one of those variable speed fans that goes faster/slower depending on the temp...
Yes.
1. Join the group (shameless plug)
2. Read a lot before investing and learn about the risks. Learn what other people are bidding on. Learn about risks vs reward. Realize that you WILL have some loans that will go bad.
3. Think about what kind of investment you want to be doing. High...
Thanks.
I went there and checked and I don't think it is a permission thing. I am a member of the Admin group, and I double checked and I have full control on my Desktop folder which is where I have been trying to open from.
I got gung ho recently and installed Vista Ultimate + Office 2007 on my tablet PC. Office 2007 cannot seem to open the simplest of documents. I have some simple XLS and DOC office documents from Office 2003 that Office 2007 locks up on. Overall I am not impressed. I think it is more Office than...
If anybody is interested I have started a Prosper group and am actively seeking members. I had to wait for them to send me a postcard to verify my physical address, but it is now up and running. I did this based on another forum that I am a member of, but then someone pointed out this thread to...
Last year I bought an Acer Convertible Tablet PC. Absolutely love it. But it is kind of heavy and it has typical laptop battery time. So I cannot use it all day (8-5) without being close to power outlet. It is sitting at home more and more.
I have used a slate tablet pc (i.e. No Keyboard) and...
I am having period USB lockup problems. This looks like this can be fixed with a BIOS update to my K8N Neo2 Platinum 7025 MB. However I don't own a floppy drive. Is there any way to flash the BIOS with no floppy driver?
I probably won't copy the OS - I prefer a clean install. In that case how do I tell my machine to use my SATA drive as my primary boot device? Or will Windows do that when I install a new OS from the CD? In my BIOS I only get to pick that my hard disk is the primary boot device. I don't get to...
Thanks all.
Just in case I DO decide to do this.. how do I handle the order of drives (SATA noob). With IDE you have primary, secondary, master, slave. How do I 'arrange' my drives now to get the new SATA drives to be seen 'before' the IDE drive? Are there jumpers on that drive ?
TIA
I just bought a sweet 320G SATA drive from a guy on here. I am reading up on what SATA is and is not good for and now I want your opinion.
Should I make this SATA drive my OS drive and use the old IDE for data? I am a SATA noob so be gentle
Keep your bookmarks on google. On my google toolbar there is a place for me to post bookmarks by folder/tag. Any computer that has this toolbar can use these bookmarks. Plus if I am someplace without the toolbar I can get to them via my google account.

Use something simple, fast, free and web based like basecamp from 37signals. It is web based which I know is against what you initially posted. But...
