And it doesn't even look like he had that game configured for the widescreen. It looks a little like it is just stretched out. With the new games in widescreen format you actually get to see more around you.
I saw that as well and I don't think the points are bad, but it seems to me that there are a couple of things to keep in mind. One - LCD's are not CRT's and while no LCD may be able to produce the level of blackness of a crt you also don't have to devote a 3 x 3 foot foot cube on your desktop...
Just so you know, Sadhu, I wasn't really complaining about smoothing the type in 98. I said that the font looked "funny" kind a stretched out, etc... meaning I'm still dealing with the resolution issues that I said I was just going to screw around with. "Screw around" because any combination...
I think clear type is an XP thing. I'm switching over to XP soon. I'm just doing one thing at a time.
Is there a way to get clear type on any non-XP platforms?
Hey I went home last night and did some work on the new toy.
For one issue, I did download the latest drivers from ATI at work yesterday and installed them at home (unfortunately no internet connection there yet.) This made the rotation tab come up in the advanced area of the display...
Good idea JasonLP. I don't know if you looked back in this thread at all, but I stayed home for a little while from work to receive the shipment this morning then could only stay long enough to set it up and check it out quickly before I had to split for work. I didn't really get a chance to...
Thanks again. I'm really just trying to get my computer to display in the 2005fpw's native resolution so that I can get a good look at it right now. For one this might make a difference as to whether I keep it or not and secondly, since I'm not playing any games at all and don't really need to...
Thanks everybody for you're putting up with my lack of information and my general lack of knowledge.
To answer Sadhu's question; I'm not really a gamer now and don't plan on becoming one in the near future (although it looks pretty cool!) I will probably do a bunch of stuff in Photoshop...
Thanks again! Oddly enough I've seen searched through several threads where people have asked about specific recomondations, but others seem reluctant to head them. I think its just because in these kinds of threads most people are ficxated on the latest and the greatest, wehich I can...
Thanks for the reply. I breezed through that cd manual fairly quickly, but I didn't happen to catch anything that had to do with that. I'm still wondering if I can some how force my old graphics card to display in this monitor's native resolution. On the Dell site they just say "picture may...
Also, annoyingly, when I tried to go to the set up features of the monitor the vast majority of them were unavailable. For instance, the "self-adjust" function was just greyed out in the menu options along with all the other options, but one. I'm not sure what the limiting factor is here.
Hey, I just got my 2005fpw from delivered from DHL this morning. (No small task since I'm in Boston and there is a thousand feet of snow outside right now.) I only tried to set it up quickly and so didn't get a chance to put it through its paces or anything, but I have a bunch of newbie...
Hey,
I'm glad to see that you resolved your driver issue.
I actually have a bunch of newbie questions that relate to this. Everyone talks about the odd native resolution of the 2005fpw and I'm not sure how you go about getting your system to display it. I went ahead and got one of these...
just so everybody knows - besides the Dell small business coupons for the 2001 there are a batch of coupons that were sent in the email for the 2005fpw. They are going on ebay for about $5 and people are circulating them here. I just used one and got the 2005fpw for %524 + 5% tax and $14...
I just pulled the trigger on the 2005fpw at 524 + tax and $14 shipping. I am excited! I just hope I get one of the newer versions people have been talking about without the backlight issues.
Anyway, no bad thoughts right now. Woo Hoo - I'm going widescreen!
Yah - looks like a good monitor, but for the moment I'm taken in by the wide aspect thing. Also, I like the idea of a pivot monitor. I can imagine a lot of situations where I might like that.
I'm having the same debate. I don't have a coupon, but was thinking of buying one off of ebay if I can't find one.
Just checked the shipping and tax for Boston, MA for the 2001fpw and they didn't allow the $14 shipping they had in home. It was $33 for the lowest ship rate and $30 (%5)...
There is a Dell Small business coupon out there to take 25% off he 2001fpw, but that only brings it down to the price they are already offering in the Home and Home office section where they are taking off the 25% automatically - $599.
Hey, I'm dong the best I can getting started here. I've been reading AT for a little while, but I didn't want to flood it with goofy posts. I think AT is great! There is a lot of great testimonials and information here. I'm just hoping someone will take pity on my newbieness and help me get...
Thanks very much for the information DHaughton.
Again if there is any advice for how I might find this I would be very grateful. I think this a sweet sounding display.
Thanks again!
I don't belive that this coupon works for the 2005fpw. I found a similar coupon on techbargains for Dell small business that came out yesterday and it works for the 193 and 173, and also for the 2001fpw, but not the 2005fpw. Maybe this isn't the same one, but it seems like it might be.
I'm...
I haven't found any coupons on the net for the 2005fpw. The 193 and the 2001 are definitely dicounted, but I can't seem to find any for the 2005fpw. Could you give me a little help finding it or email it to me?
I just tried this link and there was no discount taken off the monitor when I went to check out. Am I doing something wrong?
I just got hip to all these coupons and to the 2005fpw and I'm just trying to make sure I can get in on one of these deals.
Thanks
