    Cordless Mice

I bought the MX1000 for my laptop, thinking it would travel better than a corded mouse-big mistake. Besides mouse, I now have to carry receiver (corded, natch), and if I plan on being gone for awhile, the charger. It's a good mouse, but I do find it to be a tad heavy for my tastes. Thinking...

    Looking for a gaming laptop

Just FYI, I bought a Sager 9860 a couple of months ago, and it is worth every penney! I know it's above your friend's budget, but for anyone else considering one, I'd recommend it. I don't have D3, but HL2 is butter smooth. On 3DMark03, I get 50% higher scores than with my old desktop, an...

    My 3DMark03 score

Not sure if you are bragging, or complaining? I would say that is a very good score. '03 is very vidcard dependent. I have a laptop, and only get 8000+, on a good day.

    XP2600 to Mobile XP2500?

I.e., I have changed out a mobo before, with all that entails, but not sure of what I am trying to do here. :) I have an Asus A7N8X rev. 1 mobo (333 fsb) with an XP2600+(Tbird) running at 2.1 Ghz. Just bought a Mobile (Barton) XP2500+ to swap out (I hope), as per a suggestion in the mobo...

    Asus A7N8X

Well, this sounds good. So I've just ordered the above, plus a small tube of AS5, from newegg. I may be back in a week or so with some pleas for help, as this will be only my 2nd major (to me) upgrade. ;) First was putting in this board, taking out an old Slot A asus board.

    Asus A7N8X

I've been to Asus's website, but just became more confused. I have about the oldest Rev. board there is, and the bios is the one that came with the board. Right now I am running an XP2600+ (Tbird) w/333FSB. Trying to upgrade this machine a bit without having to replace everything. My...

    Very best notebook?

Get a Sager 9860, and it won't cost you $6000, more like 3-4000. And you'll have the fastest DTR there is-all the rest is lagging behind.

Widescreen LCD monitors: why not to buy one

Also, in some games (I play 99% flightsims), you can go into the .config file, and set your resolution, for that game, manually. I.E., I have a laptop with 1680x1050, and Pacific Fighters doesn't natively support that res, but inputting that value into the .config file results in a "normal"...

I want the best gaming laptop available.

Here is the bestest, fastest beast you can get right now: Sager 9860 I have it with 3.6 Prescott and 1 Gig RAM, 3DMark03=7250+ Aquamark3=43000 Factory settings, it can be o/c'd quite a bit. Oh, much cheaper than AW, same notebook, or dtr.

Need some help finding a laptop with the right features

The fastest gaming notebook in the world right now is the Sager 9860 (which I have ;) ), do a google. It is awesome, and based on the Clevo 900 mobo with the Nvidia 6800 Go GPU. Stock, no tweaking at all: 3DMark03=7250 Aquamark3=43000 When o/c'd, those scores rise quite a bit...

Please tell me this isn't going to harm my monitor!

OK, Nineball9, I understand that explanation, thanks alot. First time I've ever had one of the "wallwarts" go bad. :frown: At least I won't fry the monitor, right?

Please tell me this isn't going to harm my monitor!

I have an Envision EN9110 19" LCD monitor. Earlier this morning, when I plugged it in, the AC to DC adapter would not work. Aaaaarrrrggghhhh!! The rating on this adapter was 12vDC out, at 5 amps. The only quick replacement I could find (with the same type connecter, etc.) is 12vDC out, but...

    AVG corrupted!

Thanks for the replies. Not so interested in ways to restore it's functionality (I did that by using System Restore, like I said, and then ran the latest updates), but rather in why it would happen in the first place. Bad sectors on the HDD maybe?

    AVG corrupted!

This is the 2nd time in the last couple of months, that when I turn on my machine, I get the warning that AVG has been corrupted. The only way I know how to fix it is to run System Restore (XP) to the last restore point I have. I update Windows, AVG itself, and AdAware and Spybot religiously...

i need a joystick, what is the best

A vote here for the CH gear-plastic, but heavy plastic-industrial strength. CH makes controls for real life airplanes, and their sim gear is fantastic. Progamming is as simple or complex as you want to make it; I don't program at all, just use the default assignments. The Cougar seems to be a...

    Best Joystick?

CH Pro Fighterstick, Pro Throttle, and Pro Pedals, all USB. Fairly pricey (but you can shop around), but about the best rig going, IMO. (I haven't had any experience with Thrustmaster Cougar, but from what I've read, it is a good system IF you spend about the initial cost again in aftermarket...

Poll: How smooth was your first build?

Installing the AMD CPU heatsink was stressful-not because it was hard, but because I had read so many warnings about it! Turned out it was a piece of cake. Only other thing I messed up was failing to enable L2 cach in the BIOS. Oh, and I had a hard time getting all the LED and fan monitor...

    Upgradable GPU's

My first computer was a laptop (380Mhz and ATI Rage Mobility Pro), and almost immediately I began to lust for flightsims that all but overwhelmed the GPU. And I was really disappointed when I found out I couldn't uprgrade anything but the RAM. Now some mnftr's are touting "user upgradable...

    Pasting super long URL's

I just pasted a link on another site, and it was so long that it caused my screen (1280x1024) to have to be scrolled sideways. If I post big images, I know how to reduce them so that they are reasonable in size for all viewers. But how do you do that for links (in a forum)? Like, I've seen...
