What is a precise tool for checking the temp of the CPU? I did wipe the HSF stuff off and applied Arctic Silver 5 to both that and the CPU. I did hear clicks but I'm going to take it off again because I found out that I applied the AS5 incorrectly to the CPU since it's a Quad Core. So is my...
Well I just ran the Stress Test under Prime95 and my temperature was holding at 83 degrees Celcius!!! As soon as I saw you post about 80 degrees I stopped the test. I'm using Intel TAT to monitor the temperature. Is that the most accurate tool available?
I wasn't sure of this but what is the highest temperature this processor will run on? I would like to know what an unsafe temperature would. I wasn't able to find this on Intel's site though some claim it is there. Does anyone have a link to it or know the temperatures?
I failed to previously mentioned that I upgraded my BIOS as well. My room is a bit warm as its on the 2nd floor. So there's no chance there is something wrong with the processor itself?
As my thread title states, my Q6600 G0 runs pretty hot (in my opinion and after reading some other posts).
Here is my build:
Antec P182 Case
Asus P5K-E Mobo
Q6600 G0 (with stock fan and AS5 applied)
G.Skill DDR2 800 4GB
Rosewill 600W PSU
EVGA 8800GT
150GB WD Raptor...
I'm pretty sure the problem isn't with the hard drive because video does not come on. I'm thinking either the processor has gone bad or the motherboard is going bad. I have experienced this in the past and am pretty sure it is the processor. I have two removable hard drives (one of which is...
No I haven't but I don't think its the power button. You see I hear the CPU fan wind up but the HD does not come on and there is no signal being sent to the monitor. I have to turn it on and off several times to come on.
It has to be either the motherboard or the processor. I recently replaced the PSU because that was the most obvious thing. What do you think the culprit is?
I've been researching LCDs to buy one and there's something that has been bothering me. Everywhere I've read, it says LCDs are better for your eyes because they have better refresh rates. I made a comparison the LCD I ordered (Imagequest L90D+) which has a max refresh rate of 75hz. My 21"...
Im in the market for an LCD and I've been looking on ZipZoomFly and Newegg's websites. Does anyone know if they allow you to return LCD monitors that are defective or have dead pixels? Or do you directly have to send it back to the manufacturer? I looked on their websites and it seems you are...
I recently bought a Belkin USB KVM. It has worked great for the last couple months. Lately, however, when I try to switch to my other PC, it comes up for a second and then switches to my primary PC. I can still hear that the PC is on. The first problem I started noticing with this PC is that...
Well I built my dream machine but its been a nightmare. It all started with World of Warcraft errors. So I attempted to reinstall and kept getting blue screens. Now they were random blue screens. I ran memtest on it and it returned with no errors. So I proceeded to swap everything out. Still...
Well the PSU I had received praise all across the board. They said it was one of the best, if not, the best. I looked in Event Viewer but didn't see any significant problems.
I built a new PC over the weekend. For the most part its awesome....when its not locking up. I've had it lock up about 4 times now. Once on the Windows boot screen, once on the desktop and a couple times in World of Warcraft. I don't know if its the RAM, video card or some other issue...
Thanks Trashman! I looked in the manual but just wanted to doublecheck. Now regarding the front USB connections, it looks like a plug goes in there ( the one that matches the D Bracket USB). They're 9 pin connectors but I have 5 separate connectors for USB. Care to help some more? :)
Hey guys working on my new machine. It's been so long since I upgraded, I think I've forgotten some stuff :) Anyway I have a couple questions.
1. How do I run my RAM in dual channel DDR?
There are 4 slots: 2 green and 2 purple....which ones do I put them in to make the memory run...
Here is my dilemma :) I bought a PS/2 KVM switch (misread advertisment). I have a PS/2 keyboard and a wireless USB mouse. I have to buy an adapter to make my USB mouse into a PS/2 mouse. Now if I run this into a KVM switch, will it work?
Will I have to reactivate everytime I re-ghost my computer? I'm keeping all the same hardware and I was wondering that if I came across an error and had to reimage my machine, would I have to reactivate my version of Windows XP?
I just got my eVGA 6800GT video card and wanted to know if I installed a KVM switch would it reduce performance or image quality on my PC? I read somewhere that if you run a video card through a KVM switch, it lowers the image quality. Any truth to this?
I'm the soon-to-be proud owner of a eVGA Nvidia 6800GT. At $400 bux this thing is a monster. But from the reviews I heard its been worth it (just worried that I got AGP instead of waiting for PCI-E). Anyway I guess this question is directed to any 6800GT users. What drivers would you recommend...
no everything is stock and untouched. So its definetly the video card then? I have had heat issues with the card. Like it would randomly reset my computer from overheating so I had to take the side case off.
I first want to make a point and let everyone know that I never had this problem until I installed my Turtle Beach soundcard. Now I randomly get this funky looking screen. I don't know if its a hardware problem or maybe conflicting driver issue. Could be something as simple as a bad cable. I...
yeah but i can't get it to work...i tried sound recorder to no avail. it works in TS but just sounds like crap. like a lot and i do mean a lot of background noise. speakers are far from microphone as well...
I have been trying to setup Teamspeak on my computer so friends and I can communicate during gaming sessions. However they said I break up a lot and basically sound like crap. I tried headphones with an attached microphone and a regular stand-alone microphone. They said both sound bad. Do...
