That error ocurred when I ran memtest in windows. I just ran it by booting from CD and it ran perfectly with no errors for like five hours. Does this mean it is certainly a driver problem?
Just ran memtest for about 4 hours and made 10 passes with zero errors. I turned off the reboot option when I get an error message so now Half-Life 2 just crashes desktop and farcry demo crashes and reports an access exception. Could this be related to directx problems somehow?
Just ran memtest for about 30 mins until it got to 190% with zero errors. When I clicked "end test" the system rebooted and gave me the same error. Any ideas?
Whenever I run Farcry or HL2 demos, after about 2 minutes or so, I hear a beep and the system reboots and upon the next boot says I have recovered from a serious error. The technical details section included these files in its error report...
Farcry and HL2 demos always crash on my pc and either reboot or crash to desktop and remove my wallpaper with a blue screen. I have the latest drivers and scored a 58000+ on Aquamark. Here are the temps I got from my DFI NF4 UT bios:

I've tried to reinstall it several times but when I get past the copyright agreement and click next to install it instantly goes to the "finished" screen and says it is done.
I'm having a problem running some games like Farcry and HL2 demos, so I ran dxdiag and under the "system" tab I noticed it had my directx version listed as directX9b. I've downloaded the directx9c version and installed it already so I'm confused now. I'd appreciate any answers or suggestions.
When I try to run 3dmark03, I get a small error window that says "direct3d initialization failed". Any ideas what this is? I have the latest catalyst 5.3 drivers for my x800xl and I have DirectX9.0c as well.
Diablo, you seem to have the same motherboard as I do. Did your vid card impede the mobo fan from working? If so what did you do? Also, can you go into detail on how each slot operates independently.
Yeah, it works, but I was just trying to find out if it was common for a vid card to bang against the motherboard fan in such a way and what is usually done about it. For example if I wanted to add a second vid card, would I remove the mobo fan or relocate it or what?
I have a DFI lanparty NF4 and it has 2 pci-e slots for video cards. Does it matter which one of these slots I plug the card into becuase I was not able to use the PCIE1 slot due to the fact that the motherboard's fan was being impeded by the end of the card.
Currently the card is installed in...
OK it's in. Thanks for the help, Ike.
BTW, there are 2 pci-express slots for video cards. When I insert the card into pcie 1 the end of the card causes the fan with the DFI logo on it to become immobile. (Pic)
Can I simply insert the card into slot pcie3?
Sorry if I am asking too many...
OK. This manual is not the one that shipped with my mobo but thanks anyway.
The HSF that is pictured on page 27 with the three prongs and the metal arm is not the one that came with my processor.
I'm afraid to say that the manual for this mobo isn't very good as it doesn't have a step by step on anything. Only a quickstart guide and some other stuff. If anyone has the lanparty NF4 ultra d mobo manual feel free to tell me which page you are referring to.
I have a mobo that supports dual channel RAM and I have a gig of this Corsair RAM.
Should I snap it into DIMMs 1 and 2 or is there another setup that I can go with?
BTW, does it matter if the black arm on my HSF does not look like the wraparound in the instructions? When you say to hook it under this part, are you thinking of the arm being like an "L"-shaped device?
Thanks Ike. As for the orientation of the HSF, there is a small black locking arm on it. How should this be alinged? If I were facing the processor head on so that it was right side up and the locking arm is to my right, where should the clip with the black arm be on the HSF?
Hi guys, this is my first build and I have a question about installing the retail heatsink and fan on an AMD athlon 64 3200+.
I'm installing it on a Lanparty NF4 Motherboard and I've already snapped the processor in and locked it in place. I'm just having trouble finding which way the...
I'm building my first rig and I wanted to know if I should use as many standoffs as there are holes in the motherboard. If the mobo has 10 holes, should I use 10 standoffs or is that not neccessary?
thanks
I ordered all my stuff today. Thanks for the helpful advice, guys.
Here is what I went with:
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ winchester - $190
Memory: 1GB Corsair Value Select DDR PC3200 - $97
Video: ATI Radeon X800XL - $294
Mobo: DFI Lanparty UT NF4 Ultra D- $137
Case: Antec Sonata...
I've read some reviews on Newegg saying that this drive is loud and that clicking can be heard when it seeks. I'm not a quiet freak or anything but I just can't stand loud clicking whenever I do so much as open a new window. If this clicking is barely audible I'll buy the drive.
Can anyone...
By the way, should I get the OEM processor that comes alone for $180 or the retail version that has a heatsink and fan for $190?
Remember I am getting an AMD athlon 64 3200 winchester 939.
-Thanks
Well, I just did a search and couldn't come up with anything about x800 pro vs. x800xl.
As for now I'll be sticking to the ati x800xl unless someone convinces me otherwise.
Thanks for walking me through all of this stuff. I've decided to go with the ATI x800xl and the UT NF4 mobo.
What do you guys think about this hard drive?
Can anyone tell me what they would change about this so far:
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ winchester
Memory: 1GB Corsair Value Select DDR PC3200
Video: evga 6800gt
Mobo: Epox 9DA3+
Case: Antec Sonata w 380w psu
HD: Seagate 160GB SATA
CD/DVD: NEC DVD-R 16x
After doing research on this site and taking a look at several of the "systems buyer's guide" stickys, I've decided on the specs for my first DIY system build.
Here they are:
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ winchester - $190
Memory: 1GB Corsair Value Select DDR PC3200 - $97
Video: evga...
